Slater, Rojas, Capra and all of the other vets that were brought in that are now gone have just been fucking terrible. Tauchman is the only one doing literally anything.3 points

Beckham made a good point. Enough of this one day in the lineup one out for Teel and Quero. They're never gonna get red hot if you keep interrupting their rhythm. Their lineup is better when they're both there. Let them play.3 points

The people that hired him while dumping Benetti have to maintain that everything is good and getting better. If they admit at all that he sounds like a out-of-his-depth cheerleader, then it’s all downhill for Schriffen starting immediately3 points

And yet it got 2 likes. Even if he got the name right it's still a ridiculously stupid post that only you had the guts to say anything about . No one can prevent injuries in human arms when there's constant stress that throwing a baseball requires and certaining not biomechanic guys. It just shows a gross ignorance of the purpose of biomechanics while somehow acting like biomechanics is a bad thing and Getz trying to modernize is a waste of time. This place is so toxic .3 points

There were, and still are, and abundance of issues with this franchise. But good God Pedro Grifol might actually be the worst manager in MLB history without exaggeration.3 points

I was thinking about all the bad draft choices the Sox have made lately and thought.....is the worst one Jacob Gonzalez? I ask that because he seemed to be a non prospect almost immediately after being drafted. What were they thinking with that pick?2 points

The guy who owns it is the problem with this org.2 points

You are seeing long term. They need to get lucky drafting a difference maker and not one who is only good every 5 days. Losing is a habit.2 points
-
Exactly, you need to stop this culture of losing and have the best chance of winning games. Even the Rockies put together a little winning streak but Venable with these asinine lineups isn’t giving the team a chance.2 points

Get him an extra look at the top of the lineup? If they can get him hitting at all, he's a power threat.2 points

Dear Sox fans, if we weren't fielding a shitty team, you'd love our shitty announcer. White Sox Fever.....CATCH IT!2 points

Sox came into today with a 4.20 team ERA and a -69 run differential and I need someone other than me to be aware of this NICE statistic2 points

Spot on, the hiring of TLR II followed by the hiring of Grifol just about destroyed the franchise, we are still cursed with the ownership which will hopefully be rectified soon. Even though we still are bad it’s encouraging to see the current players hustling and busting their butts, some credit has to be given to Venable and his staff as just a year ago we still had Grifol in the dugout with a lot of players with bad attitudes.2 points

Pretty good debut for Wikelman. The stuff looks legit. Tough on the debut to come out for another inning. Wonder if they’re gonna give him some run.2 points

As of now I would guess Shane Smith. There are WAY more good corner players and you need a ton of pitchers2 points

Aaron Trunt is the White Sox biomechanist and he's doing great work. Do you have an issue with using biomechanics?2 points

Harold gives me a first hand glance into the incompetence of the white sox with his takes and opinions and im grateful for that. No one hates quants in baseball more than Harold.2 points

Hawk was an ELITE play by play guy until around 2010. Then he declined rapidly and hung on too long. People mostly just remember the silly things he said at the end of his career but Hawk knew baseball and he had an air of authority that Jason and John never will. Jason at least wants to learn and obviously has an excuse for never playing himself. John claims he was a scholarship pitcher that blew him arm out and never played again. That is 100% BS. Nobody that played DIII let alone was on a scholarship would know so little about the game. John calls the game like an alien. He doesn't get anything about baseball.2 points

I would hope that would happen but I'd be very surprised if it took place. Was told by a high ranking front office employee that the Sox think Schriffen and Stone have never sounded better and are working together very well. This person also said they thought the Sox have the best broadcasting team in baseball on the all-access Friday night telecasts. They were also very enthused about what McKnight and the female reporter (sorry I don't remember her name) are doing and contributing.2 points

The picture hasn't changed because they keep promoting from within the same disfuctioning organization. Getz was a part of culture, scouting, player development issues yet he was promoted.2 points

Going from Renteria, for whom it seemed like players would run through a wall, to drunken baseball corpse who napped in the dugout probably throws a monkey wrench in the whole accountability and professionalism part.2 points

Hawk called games as a passionate fan of the White Sox. Schriffen sounds like a guy who is artificially trying to be an over the top fan about everything positive that happens. I get that he can't just sit there and bad mouth the White Sox the whole broadcast but I also don't need to constantly hear about how good something is going right now when in reality, its not. I mean just yesterday we had to listen to him glazing Altavilla and his changeup mere moments before he lost the game.2 points

Schriffen symbolizes all that is wrong with this franchise and how it's being run into the ground by Jerry Reinsdorf. No, he doesn't affect on the field performance and I could live with a bad announcer if the team were on their way to winning 95 games, but he is a perfect reflection of how Uncle Jerry has run this team over the last 15-20 years.2 points

The Hagen Smith reset, Noah Schultz mechanics, Colson Montgomery reset and Miguel Vargas hand shift. It’s not all biomechanics but the departments are all working together for the first time ever.1 point

10 homers isn’t that many. It just feels like a lot because that’s how bad the team is.1 point

Can either of you help me understand the great work the Biomechanics group is doing? I'm surprised to hear that limiting injury isnt one of the goals of the biomechanics department/team. I agree its not the only function, but id expext it to be a component. A lot of people doing great work in the organization, it sounds like.1 point

Nobody suggested having a biomechanist was a bad thing and especially not "modernizing". The point was Getz hires a new one every year to replace someone who was touted as an upgrade. And nobody suggested it was only arms. We've had a ton of soft tissue injuries too. Maybe these guys' studies provide great data and the training staff doesn't know how to implement the data. Maybe the data shows that Taylor's extension is more likely to lead to injury than not, although there plenty of anecdotal evidence that may not be true. Who knows why we've had so many injuries (of all varieties), but something isn't working somewhere. Maybe Herm just got lucky all those years.1 point

Disagree. I still didn’t like Benetti even when the Sox were winning. Honestly, it feels like Schriffen would be even more annoying if the Sox were good but at least you could deal with it.1 point

there was a time he attacked one of his players in the locker room. You'll get it. It was when he managed the Reds. It's is a trend in modern day sports where a manager or coach is now the tallest midget. The smart ones know when it's time to quit. The soap opera of the Sosa era was well hidden.1 point

I've been called a lot worse by better individuals so your words bother me not an iota. I don't hate JR, have met him twice, we've exchanged nice letters. I hate what he has done to this franchise. Regarding my profession I can separate my duties and responsibilities in those areas with my fandom. They aren't connected.1 point

What's the URL, flyingsock doesn't work anymore I was banned there once for a week for saying a player played like a girl, and apparently that was mysogyny or something. I directly pleaded to FarWest to please preserve the archives, since it was one of the few boards that had real time reactions to 9/11, and tons of other 2000s nostalgia. That stuff grows more valuable as time passes, but I thought it was nuked. Those early 2000s threads provide a glimpse into a forgotten world that you can't get thru conventional media. Home movies would be the closest, but even then, there aren't 50 people sharing their unfiltered thoughts like in a message board thread. IIRC, richard roeper and len grobstein posted at WSI, as did Nancy's replacement.1 point
