This is EXACTLY why you sell high on Houser, Civale, Altavilla, Tauchman, and anyone else who gets a bite after a resurgance. I have no idea if there are still teams interested in them all, but SELL SELL SELL MORTIMER!11 points

Massive difference between these last 2 “young cores” so far is the mentality. This group gives off way more competitive, winner, having fun playing ball vibes than the Moncada, Eloy, Yaz, Robert, Vaughn group did. Culture feels far different than the last group. No clue how it winds up down the road but I think it’s an obvious difference and think it matters.5 points

I guess they're not trading him for a better package than Getz received.4 points

I have rarely listened to the broadcast since he started and my god he is so cringy.4 points

Southside Stad Up sounds better after a game like this. Although I'm still not a fan of that phrase4 points

I miss eating real hotdogs. With diabetes the issue is the buns plus the hotdog and bun are killer in sodium. No way would I ever one wrapped in lettuce or something like that.4 points

TURN THE GAME BACK ON MORONS, IT WAS ONLY THE BOTTOM OF THE 1ST4 points

I think it's been about 3 years since I truly enjoyed watching a game. I enjoyed this game3 points

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Schriffen likes Plesac more than Stoney3 points

I've never seen multiple close calls go the Sox way like this, it's almost more shocking than the offense3 points

Soxtalk: why didn’t Colson make that an inside the park home run?3 points

The more important question is how many Sox hit their first MLB triple before their first MLB HR and went on to win MVP? (The answer is two, Thomas and Abreu. I'm here for Colson continuing the trend.)3 points

Glad I didn't turn it off. I think I can count on 1 finger the 4 run comebacks the last 3 years. I apologize for being so pessimistic3 points

This is what mid rotation ceiling looks like on a bad day.3 points

He sucks. Throws more center cut pitches than 90% of SP I've seen.3 points

@WBWSF missed the boat with his letters. If only he had employed this tactic, he would’ve gotten his interview and been the GM by now.3 points

Okay, they called me back. (They get calls like this all the time.) Flexen had free agency written into his contract last year. Tauchman doesn't, therefore, Tauchman will not be a free agent after this season. So, Mike Tauchman has an arbitration year to go in 2026 before he reaches true free agency.3 points

There is the roster spot and playing time. Losing a DH from the 26-man does free up space for a 3rd catcher to get Teel and Quero in the lineup every day.3 points

I think the reality is we just need the best talent possible. There is already a core starting to form at the major league level that’s burning service time, so guys who are close to ready can certainly help accelerate things. At the same time, Getz is not trying to rush the broader org rebuild as evident by our recent draft having four overslot prep picks. I would avoid guys out of options or kids who are far away but require Rule 5 protection, but otherwise 40 man roster status is fairly meaningless to us in the grand scheme of things for at least another year.3 points

I think it's interesting that the Rays are a successful organization but I doubt any casual fan outside of Tampa could ever name a Rays player. I couldn't. They are not a sexy baseball team.2 points

Love the little league field. Longest single in existence.2 points

Quero needs to be out there most of the time with Lee the backup. Teach Teel to play 1B and Vargas back to 3B.2 points

I haven’t made hot dogs for my kids since they were young and back then they ate them just with ketchup. But I recently made my 16 year old son some homemade Chicago style hot dogs for the first time with those massive CostCo all beef hot dogs that they sell in the food court, along with diced onions, relish, tomato wedges, mustard, sport peppers, pickle, and celery salt and he loved it.2 points

Ok, ya got me. If they become franchise cornerstones, sure. But if the roles were reversed, we would be seeing Tommy Edman and Michael Kopech once a decade (at least) for the next fifty years for celebrations at the Cell.2 points

If he gets released, absolutely bring him back on a minor league deal for the prorates league min. He had so much success with the Sox. He might actually pick them over other options, if he has any.2 points

Thank you for this post and giving me more insight into the art of pitching. This right here, as an engineer and former athlete, is why I'm falling more and more in love with baseball as I age, in spite of the Sox's best efforts.2 points

Until Vargas, Perez or Albertus are contributors to a World Series winning team, the Dodgers won the trade. This is like saying the Sox lost the Carlos Lee trade cause Lee put up monster numbers for the next 4 seasons and Pods had one great year.2 points

Yep. Also, not that they are a very reliable source but earlier this week Mully and Haugh on The Score are under the same impression and discussed bringing back Tauchman as a veteran presence for next year as opposed to trading him at the deadline.2 points
