  1. Once again this false narrative comes to the forefront. I don't know of ANY Sox fan...NONE who "don't mind" losing, tanking, rebuilding. But when you have an owner who refuses to compete, who refuses to spend money, who refuses to take any risks, who thinks players are overpaid and still yearns for a salary cap...rebuilding, tanking is basically the ONLY WAY to maybe get out of the cesspool he created. Will it work? It hasn't so far that's for damn sure but odds of a 1,000-1 are still better than zero because JR is simply not trying to win anymore. Period...full stop...end of story.

  2. I don’t think he struggled at all. I thought he looked pretty good. The first inning he gave up two weak seeing eye singles with two outs then they stole home on bad defense. He gave up a few hits in the 2nd but breezed through the third. Was throwing lots of strikes.

  3. Smith was dealing with no hits/walks (1 HBP) and 6K through 3. Got strikeout #7 to leadoff the 4th inning, then back to back comebacker grounders. He dodged the first which ended up a single up the middle, and took the second off his leg resulting in an IF single. Got checked out and stayed in the game. Picked off the runner at first, allowed a walk, then got a popout to end the inning. Easy 1-2-3 5th, done at 66 pitches.

  5. Great August for Shane. 6 starts, 33.2IP, 10 ER (2.67 ERA), 31K, <1.00 WHIP. His last two outings are the two longest of his career.

  6. Ramos was hurt in Spring. His second half has been much better. My issue with Elko is that he has massive holes in his swing that mlb pitchers will exploit. Ramos has a much sounder swing and is more versatile defensively.

  7. Here's an article about the Royals' search for a new stadium site that gives a very good general analysis of 3 types of ballpark locations (suburbs, city neighborhood, downtown) and where these types of locations currently work or could work for the other MLB teams. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46030983/mlb-ballparks-future-stadiums-kansas-city-royals-downtown-suburbs-village-model For those fans who think there's nothing wrong with Rate Field or who advocate moving the Sox out to the suburbs, here's a couple of noteworthy quotes: "If all that mattered were the aesthetics of watching a game, or the drive-and-park convenience, the Royals would stay put. But in 2025, that's not enough." "Any team thinking of making a move to the suburbs for its own Battery has to take a careful look at what is different about its market from Atlanta, which in some studies has been measured as the most sprawled-out large metro area in the country."

  9. It’s virtually impossible for them to win 63 games.

  10. They would need to go 15-12 the rest of the way to avoid 100 losses. Bet your house Greg, they’re losing 100+.

  11. My poor friend you have been Soxified into thinking a guy with a .656 career OPS who never walks is good. Not to mention a -1.0 career WAR. If that isn't sox bamboozled I don't know what is.

  12. Getz gonna Getz. It’s laughable that anyone thinks this dude is going to turn around this decrepit franchise before he is justifiably fired by an owner that may actually care about winning. Remember Jerry’s quotes about how great finishing in second place is. He has bred a culture of losing and Getz is just his latest pathetic minion.

  13. Sosa still is a complete dumbfuck when it comes to having a concept of the strike zone. Throw him enough pitches a foot outside and he will eventually swing at them. So tired of that s%*#,

  14. Getz was such a genius to make expectations so low that people don’t seem annoyed by a team almost 40 games under .500

  15. Sox seem to enjoy losing

  16. He basically skipped all the necessary development jumping to the Sox from AA last year...still very raw in terms of baseball IQ.

  17. I agree, line looks worse than the performance. He gave up 3 singles, one was hard hit. Hackenberg didn't need to throw to second on a delayed steal with two strikes on the batter and a runner at third, but he did and it cost a run. Schultz ended the inning on the next pitch.

  19. Are you sure? I thought the bullpen was middle of the pack, and have you double-checked their record since May 1st?

  22. They’d still suck. Garbage bullpen and offense rated 2nd to last place in MLB by fWAR.

  23. Exactly. Tauchman will be back next year. He’s going to get his salary arbitration and his daughter’s same doctor care. He’s happy. Benintendi already signed for millions that he isn’t earning. Neither of these guys are likely going to b1tch if you give them some time off in yet another horrible losing season to get some other outfielders some playing time. And if they do b1tch, who cares? They won’t be around for the next competitive Sox team anyways. So fuggem if they actually do b1tch. And people can argue that Fletcher, DeLoach, and Robertson are garbage. I won’t disagree. They probably are. But we already know for sure what Benintendi and Tauchman are — one is an overpaid pile of suck and the other is an old, oft-injured, average at best right fielder. Stop wasting at bats on these guys… Getz is simply terrible at managing a roster, considering his team sucks, he has plenty of flexibility to do whatever he wants, and he has an owner who is on the way out and is never going to fire him. And yeah, when I first googled Will Robertson, Duck Dynasty bullshit came up. 🤣

  24. 7-20, 10-17, 9-18, 13-14, 9-18 we probably have a 11-16 left. Something like that. 59-103

  25. But seriously, why are you drafting a guy that you quickly give up on as a starter that high?

  31. Yes, but every single team relies on "veteran leadership" to set the tone in the clubhouse. Part of roster building is to keep the number of true psychopaths to a minimum, not pad out a lineup with them.

  32. Yikes, I haven't been paying much attention to how he's hitting, but .200 since August 8 and .170 since August 16. We've seen this show before.

  34. Update: At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 5-11 7-9 4-12 7-9 10-6 3-13 Total: 45-83, on pace for 57 wins.

  35. Why would anyone defend Getz? Ishbia will not be promoting from within a failing organization. That I am certain. I'm also certain no one will ever be clamoring for Getz to run their baseball team in my life.

  36. Conversely, if they play at that .420 rate the rest of the way from today, on (42-70), they'd go 21-29 the rest of the way, or finish at 63-99. Their difficulty of schedule has dropped from 3rd hardest to 12th hardest, rest of the way.
