No starting pitcher announced though sets up for Hagen Smith. Tampa throwing their #20 prospect who is 14-3 on the year and 4-0 in AA with a 0.97 ERA. Secondly, thanks to everyone who helped/participated throughout the year. Appreciate the civility as well.10 points

Everyone should be thanking YOU. Phenomenal job every year with these threads.6 points

I just think they have been so bad, people are numb. Most likely 100 losses. Even when they cherry pick the All Star break as the new starting point, they have played at a 70-92 pace. Still horrid. Hopefully something changes nexr year. When they pitch well, they can't hit, or when they pitch and hit well, they can't field, or when they hit well, they can't pitch...It's always something.5 points

Don’t forget that they didn’t interview anyone because they could not afford to waste a year. Wonder where they would be had they wasted a year.5 points

That's what i don't get. The other day he was going on about what a fun season it was and how good the team is. They could win out and have the worst record in the AL and the second worst in baseball.3 points

You literally just commented. This entire post is a fully political post dressed up in a bit of aw shucks bullshit.3 points

Edwin Diaz got 6 outs last night and the Cubs really weren't all that close to even getting on base. There's no way that any manager would play matchups to get the last outs of the game if they had a guy like that at the end of their bullpen.2 points

The Bulls are satisfied with what used to be called NBA hell. Not good enough to win it all, and not bad enough to draft high enough to get good enough. But this is money maker time. The still almost sell out. They could eek out a home playoff game or two, which is very lucrative, never get into luxury tax, which in the NBA means you get a cut of all who do, and count your millions.2 points

Nah, this is exciting. One of the most disappointing things I had ever seen was when the 1993 Giants and Braves ended with 103 and 104 wins and the Giants went home. Having so many different teams with actual stakes with a week left is fun2 points

I get what you mean. I'd say the 2022 season was much more frustrating to watch....and that made the Sox more difficult to watch in a way. This year, I had pretty much zero expectations for this team. That's still completely unacceptable. But I've moved on from frustration and anger in 2022 to resignation and disinterest now. This organization is a total disgrace to let us get to this point where we see up to 104 losses as a big step forward.2 points

I’ve been told Taylor is going to be a starter anyways so I guess it doesn’t matter. Sox bullpen has been atrocious since Hendriks was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s. A consistently dominant closer can do a lot for a bullpen.2 points

So tired the last 3 years how many times the Sox grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory. It’s a insane amount of losses.2 points

Clearly low when it crossed the plate. At any rate, some free baseball. Fun day except for White Sox and Mets not getting more pressured.1 point

Raleigh just hit #60. MVP clinched. I think that's now 11 multi Homer games, a record or tied. Suarez another homer...five tonight for Ms.1 point

Except we are now in Year 2 1/2 of the Getz regime to look at the pitching situation... What's a reasonable amount for Getz to have to spend? We might not see that until 2028 at this rate. Because he will always have either spending or injury excuses even for 4-5 years of lackluster results.1 point
-
Nope, not even if you ask three times. 😉 The Boston front office is probably salivating at the thought of making another trade with Getz this upcoming offseason.1 point

I can't believe they are bringing Schriffen back next year. I mean, I can, because it's the white sox, but even Beckham is not really taking it anymore. He basically just said "no I am not singing the stupid Jeff Vooch jingle." On another note, Beckham's gotten a lot better. I really like his style and analysis.1 point

They make such a big deal about winning games now giving them confidence and momentum for next season. Last year they won 5 of their last 6.1 point

Going to the bullpen...it's all about economies of scale. Friedman in LA has made just as many mistakes, arguably. $111 million to that pen and Scott/Treinen terrible, Yates il'ed. Not to mention the Conforto deal. And the Mets do have that lockdown closer in the post season in Diaz, to go with a really strong Top 5/6 hitters. Ofc Mets' problem is starting pitching. Rookie McLean has been really solid and earned a spot in the post season rotation.1 point

Those of us around long enough know that he's been a PR disaster almost from the get-go. He's been alienating fans since 1982 and his late partner Eddie Einhorn was just as bad if not worse. There was a brief respite in 2005 before the franchise has gone into the ditch over the last 18 or so years culminating in last year's all-time record loss total. Disgraceful.1 point
