  1. Teel can hit and can play outfield. He's obviously the most valuable. To me Quero passed the eye test at catcher; he's 22. Lots of potential And I still like Lee as a backup. Don't trade any, unless it's for a premium (and a big premium for Teel).

  2. KW was an elite talent evaluator, just ask him about it and he'll tell ya how he could really pick em

  3. That's how he found Iguchi and he publicly said that.

  4. I don't know him, but I am sure this is brilliant and the finishing piece.

  5. Weird to see the Cardinals as a bad team. My entire adult life they were a problem team, even in down seasons. Now they are constantly rebuilding

  6. Not exactly holding my breathe here for obvious reasons but he was posted yesterday. David Keller was reportedly in Japan scouting him. They hired a Japan scout which just seems gross that we didnt have one before. Anyways he hit .327/.416/.598/.1014 15 HRs last year in 69 games. RH gold glove 1B/3B. Seems primarily 1B for MLB. Yahoo projects 3 years 36 million and a 6 million posting fee. MLBTR says 4 years 64 million which is probably out of the wheelhouse.

  7. You mean the same Jerry and Eddie who almost immediately bad-mouthed and alienated Bill Veeck, insulted Sox fans by vowing to get rid of the riff raff that was currently attending Sox games, told Sox fans the team was moving to pay TV and that they'd better get used to it, and let their popular broadcaster jump ship to the Cubs? You forgot to mention that part of the story.

  8. Anyone can scout the NPB with the wonders of modern technology. But having a scout there that speaks the language, invests the time to build the relationships, respects the regimented culture and style of play...they're going to have a huge head start when those 4-5 players are posted each and every season now. They also would attend the Koshien national high school tourney in Osaka and start making the connections when the kids are just 16-17, which will eventually mean a lot to the parents when it comes to signing a pro contract in terms of that trust vs. "complete unknown or wild card" factor.

  10. We didn't have a single scout in japan until last week?

  11. This is kind of the point. If you aren't going to win every year, something other than winning has to be a draw to your stadium. Teams all over baseball have figured this out and made it work.

  12. I agree that 35th and Shields has never been the greatest spot for the White Sox, they drew well in the early years of the franchise and again in the Go Go years. IMHO biggest problem has been that there has been no period of sustained winning baseball except again in the Go Go years but even then we only had 1 trip to the World Series in those 17 straight winning seasons. They win the division once in awhile, lose in the first round of the playoffs and then we have to go through 5-10 of mediocre baseball only to see the same scenario. Meanwhile I’m pretty sure the fan base because of Reinsdorf’s miserly ways has dwindled down pretty low to where most of the metro population could care less about the White Sox. The only hope right now is Ishbia but there are no guarantees, I thought when Reinsdorf took over in 1981 that we would have a premier franchise rivaling the Yankees, Dodgers and Cardinals, boy was I ever wrong.

  14. It's odd that people don't think that maybe more transit options would help attendance, instead of worrying about parking lots.

  15. I just love being back in Chicago in the winter and have the Bears be relevant. I'll take "not as good as their record" arguments over "they aren't as bad as their record".

  16. Parking has been discussed so many times, yet the question still arises because some just can’t fathom a ballpark without a sea of parking lots. The Cubs have managed to survive just fine without acres of parking as people became more car dependent and more people moved to the suburbs over the years. The Sox ballpark model is antiquated and 30 years behind the times, and is one of many reasons why they have struggled with attendance. Yet some just can’t or refuse to connect the dots. The future of the franchise hinges on changing the way the org operates once new ownership takes over, and it also means changing the fan experience before and after games to meet what consumers demand now. That simply cannot be done without a new park that caters to those interests, or drastically altering the area surrounding Rate Field. The later of which feels like a bandaid more than a long term solution.

  17. Seems like like adjusted and they are getting hammered now. Maybe Collin’s will help but good god - Patrick Williams. I don’t know what was worse - drafting him or resigning him?

  18. I actually like what the Sox have done with the Bridge league. Good instruction in a low stress environment. It certainly didn’t hurt Bonemer. Hopefully, Carlson, Fauske, Hodge, and Boughton find similar success.

  19. Honestly can’t think that Ishbia entered into Twins discussions with a new stadium in mind when Target Field is only 15 years old.

  20. Said this on September 5th before the season started, and think it's looking pretty solid right now. Biggest takeaway for me is how much coaching matters. There were a bunch of games last year under Eberflus where they lost in such unbelievable fashion, literally found new ways to lose. Culture was rotten, team wasn't prepared, but the core of this roster is basically the same in 2025 as it was in 2024. And seemingly every close game they play this year, they're finding a way to win. I just don't think any of us could wrap our head around how big of an upgrade Ben Johnson/Dennis Allen/Antwaan Randle El would be from Matt Eberflus/Eric Washington/Thomas Brown.

  21. I'd be pretty happy if they signed him. I honestly think he may end up being the better hitter than Murakami.

  23. I think everyone is in agreement on that. It’s not trading him just to trade him.

  24. What is Querro's value? A recent top 100 prospect who generated 1.2 bwar when called up. 22yo switch-hitter at premium position. Yeah he is slow, so are almost all catchers. The fact he didn't bomb when called up I would think adds to his value so I would be holding out for a similar young player with some success in the outfield or if getting prospects a top 100 plus more?

  28. Yep, there are a lot of players better than Kent that are not in the Hall of Fame. Bobby Grinch and Willie Randolph at 2b are both much better. And while I know there are no direct links to steroids for Kent, all of his big seasons coming from age 30 on in the middle of the steroids era is suspicious (although I think he basically got easy pitches to hit because everyone was so scared of Bonds).

  29. Kent's accumulated bWAR places him firmly in the Hall-of-Really-Good, but that used to be really borderline. I think Robin Ventura has 56 career WAR, and nobody talks about him for the Hall. Kent should have moved over to 1B, but he wanted to set the 2B HR record. And he was a complete prick to the media, so much that the "character" issue detracted from his original candidacy. Oh, and there was him breaking his wrist doing a motorcycle stunt, which was not allowed under his contract, then lying about it to the media.
