  1. What in the f*** are you talking about? I watch every game and I’m also not some dinosaur who doesn’t understand how basic statistics like BABIP work. This isn’t very hard pal…Peters a has a .378 BABIP. The highest BABIP in a full season since COVID is .376. If you think Peters is going to post the highest BABIP in baseball over the past six years, especially given his minor league profile, then you aren’t a serious poster. In the future, please keep your little pout fests in the 78 thread.
  2. Let's hope that those in charge have the best ability to determine when Braden is ready for the promotion. That said, if he's ready, it's fun to think about the following potential line up, after the All Star break: LF Antonacci !B Murakami 3B Vargas SS C. Montgomery C Teel RF B. Montgomery 2B Gonzales DH Pereira / Benintendi CF Peters
  3. So many on here panned the grichuk signing. Can't believe I am saying this, but another getz gem
  4. Do you know what "regression" means? It's not a putdown of Peters to say he's playing above his underlying metrics. I'd bet he's not going to be a 5-WAR, .800 OPS player going forward. Right now he looks like an average major leaguer (2 WAR) on a heater. That's good.
  5. Yes, it's gratifying to see that the front office recognizes the importance of line up balance and the value of left handed hitters. It's not rocket science. Most hitters hit pitches from the opposite side better than from the same side. As we know, that's because the breaking balls are typically of the "back door" variety, when coming from the opposite side of the plate. That allows a hitter to keep his front shoulder closed, and avoid bailing on breaking balls. Combined with the fact that there are far more RH pitchers, than southpaws, it's obvious why left handed hitters are so coveted. This current Sox roster has a nice mix of both right handed and left handed hitters. Braden will further enhance that balance, if he can be effective when batting right handed. So far, his splits don't suggest that to be the case. That might be the most important reason to keep him in AAA.
  6. 3 points
Hagen’s velo has been better today FWIW. Touched 96 in the 4th.
  7. CLE loses 10-0 and they play the Yankees next. Just stay within striking distance.
  8. I asked AI on my phone where Roch would play if the Sox chose him and they said absolutely SS because he was the best all around SS prospect since Troy Tulowikski and experts all say at 6'4" Colson will need to move over to 3B....I told it to f&*%ing shutup....and it asked me to not use such language.
  9. You are a terrific poster CWS but please.. I beg of you.. do NOT do that condescending "pal" b.s. like Ray does.
  10. Getz is way better than Hahn at picking up guys from the clearance section.
  11. As I said in my original post that apparently triggered tray, even with regression he’s probably a good strong side platoon option for CF and +2 win player. His defense and speed are that valuable.
  12. Thank you. I love Peters, but the batted ball luck will normalize to some extent at some point.
  13. Just unbelievable. And he fell? He's not even old! What a terrible loss for the sport, for the City, for the fans, for his family of course.
  14. so tired of our C tier hitters blowing all the ABs challenges on obvious strikes, and guys like Vargas who probably has the best eye on the team never challenging anything
  15. He has been quite the find! Great job on that acquisition.
  16. That's why you don't bunt in the 5th inning against a struggling pitcher and ball them out.
  17. Grich is on this team until the end. No one is taking his spot.
  18. Would be great if it builds confidence for the rest of the lineup that sticks when he returns
  19. His OAA metrics in CF is absolutely elite and Getz values defense and speed. Peters isn't going to be displaced anytime soon and whatever his bat provides is gravy.
  20. Right now? No one. Maybe Montgomery snags some playtime there when he comes up, but there's no one in the organization that's going to take his spot this year.
  21. He's most likely a 4th outfielder, but he's earned his playing time for sure.
  22. Neither team was challenging much at the plate yesterday either, but I thought maybe it was because the HP ump was so ripped that they were intimidated
  23. The pitchers coming up through the system all have great stuff, but have no idea where it's going.
  24. 100%. Saying someone will regress doesn’t mean they are bad. Peters has been a godsend for us in CF and looks like a key piece of the future.
  25. Sandlin may not be long for this game. Tyler Davis better start gulping Gatorade right now.
  26. This is why the Sox can’t piss away all of their offensive opportunities. Probably gonna take 10 runs to win this game.
  27. I thought that one had just enough carry, but guess not.
  28. Feels like the opener strategy has worked pretty good this year no?
  29. Not a fan of hitting Meidroth in the 5 spot. He’s not an RBI guy.
  30. Hey, give me a break! I've been out of commission for 2 weeks, I'm behind on the state of the team! :)
  31. The best ability is availability, and Peters definitely has it in spades over Luis
  32. Will be interring to see the length of Pereira’s assignment. This second time around, Hays was supposed to get nine games or so at Charlotte. Everson is only at two games so far and only one in the actual field. Realistically, he gets another week in Charlotte and a total of eight games, which would have him ready for the road series against the Yankees. Would they try to rush him even faster for next weekend’s series against the Dodgers? Rehab duration wise that would only be 5 games, which seems very unlikely. More importantly, if the Dodgers rotation holds, we’ll face three RHP in Sasaki, Yamamoto, & Sheehan. While I think he may be an upgrade over Rikuu against RHP, his most obvious benefit is against LHP and I wouldn’t consider rushing him unless it was for that need. Also, FWIW, the Yankees are currently projected to have two lefties face us in Rodon & Weathers. Again, that’s the series I would expect Pereira back for.
  33. I like this better than tickling a ballsack which is what I thought lol. I’m gonna go with bidet.
  34. Crash Davis needs to give this kid some lessons on getting interviewed. "That it was cool. This place is cool, so it's a cool place to hit a homer. "
  35. Congrats to Gonzo on his 1st major league homerun.
