  1. Hopefully we can win this. Weather doesn't look promising. Go Sox!
  2. Need to sign him to an extension
  3. Easy to have that feeling when you run into three outs on the bases, fail to bring RISP with no outs, and walk the universe… so yes, I’m sure you weren’t alone.
  4. I hope they prove me wrong but I cant help but feel this is the start of the Sox coming back to earth. They just don't have the pitching to contend through 162 games. If were honest none of us had this team contending this year. With the right additions the window for winning starts next year.
  5. I don't see any point in buying in any serious way. This is a developmental year and you don't know your long-term holes, if any. If there's a long-term piece out there, sure check it out. If there's some marginal moves to be made, take a look. Especially if you can improve the big league club at only the cost of money.
  6. Gotta wait, they could easily be 6-7 games out come the deadline.
  7. I'm not the one who lost eight straight in Cleveland. Just stating the facts.
  8. Today’s negative note of day brought to you by Lip Man!
  9. SIX factoids today: July 3, 1922 - Sox pitcher Ted Blankenship made his big-league debut in a big way. Blankenship relieved starter Ferdinand “Ferdie” Schupp in the second inning of a game against Detroit. He’d pitch 12 innings before losing the game in the 14th giving up nine hits. The final score was 7-6. It took place at Comiskey Park and was the first game of a double header. The Sox won the second game 4-3. July 3, 1940 – It was a wild ninth inning punctuated by a franchise first. The White Sox came up with a seven-run final frame to put away the Tigers 12-7 in a game in Detroit with the highlight being a pinch-hit grand slam off the bat of Taft “Taffy” Wright. It was the first time the Sox had ever recorded a pinch-hit grand slam. Wright was batting for Eric McNair when he sent a Lynn Nelson pitch over the fence scoring Joe Kuhel, Julius “Moose” Solters and Larry Rosenthal ahead of him. For the year Wright would only hit five home runs! July 3, 1973 – In a 15-1 thrashing of Texas in the opener of a doubleheader Tony Muser tied a franchise record with five walks. The first baseman scored four times and added a single, meaning he reached base safely in all six of his trips to the plate from the two spot in the batting order. Muser joined Dick Allen, who was walked five times in a game nearly a year earlier, along with Sammy Strang, “Minnie” Minoso, Frank Thomas and Jim Thome in franchise annals. July 3, 1976 – It was the first morning start for a game in the history of Comiskey Park as the Sox hosted Texas. The first pitch was delivered at 10:30 AM. The Sox didn’t care much for the novelty as they lost 3-0 to Nellie Briles, getting only three hits. The Sox would play another morning game the following season in connection with McDonalds restaurants Egg McMuffin sandwiches, and hammer Cleveland 18-2. July 3, 1993 - Former Sox announcer and Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale was found dead in his hotel room in Montreal of a heart condition. Drysdale, then a Dodgers announcer, worked for the Sox mostly on television from 1982 through 1987. His broadcast partner Ken “Hawk” Harrelson broke down on the air, while making the announcement during the Sox 9-6 loss to the Orioles at Comiskey Park that evening. July 3, 2012 – Sox pitcher Chris Sale earned his 10th win of the season as the White Sox ran out to a 19-0 lead and ended up crushing Texas, 19-2. An Ian Kinsler error at second base helped propel Chicago to a nine run fifth inning (seven unearned), capped by an A.J. Pierzynski three-run blast. Roy Oswalt started for the Rangers and surrendered 11 runs (nine earned) in a little less than five innings of work. Pierzynski, Alex Rios, Kevin Youkilis, and Alexei Ramírez all collected three hits apiece in the game.
  10. Yeah so I was on one last night. I was just so frustrated because we literally had no business winning that game and we could’ve stolen one where our starter didn’t even make it through 4. If this team has been anything, it’s resilient, so let’s see what they’ve got tonight.
  11. They have to, if they win 2 it will be great but will be tough. One thing is they don’t quit so there’s that.
  12. Venable says postgame that Seranthony pitched better than the boxscore looks, since ump stole a strikeout from him. On the other hand, I see Venable's actions: pulling Seranthony at the first opportunity even though failing to get an inning from him was disastrous for our pitcher usage. So, I think the postgame comments amount to a little bit of ass-kissing for Seranthony.
  13. Every game in Cleveland feels like this I swear
  14. He needs a phantom DL stint so Venable doesn't use him at all
  15. Getz couldn’t identify a good reliever if his life depended on it.
  16. Annoying loss but it's just another coin flip game that the Sox lose. They've won a lot of those coinflips too. Just keep grinding it out and you'll come out ahead. I think the Sox have at least a marginal talent advantage over Cleveland but these two losses are tough not because they are losses so much as the fact the pitcher usage is making each subsequent game harder to win. Get some more of those well-hit balls to drop and you'll come out ahead without having to worry so much about the pitching.
  17. Doesn’t get much lower leverage than that. Dominguez can f*cking get bent.
  18. Both Dominguez walks scored DFA him now
  19. Never fails Whenever Colson flubs a play, it costs us big time I love and hate Colson
  20. Inning is over if Teel challenged the last pitch to Rocchio
  21. This bullpen is good but they have just been put under so much stress becuase the lack of innings of starters.
  22. Start of another 10 game losing streak.
  23. I hope you have a good time! I mean really any experience at any MLB park is not going to be bad lol. The city just didn’t do anything for me. We found a nice park by the water that we enjoyed, was probably the highlight outside of the ballgame. But we came from Pittsburgh which is such a cool city and obviously one of the best parks in the league at PNC Park.
  24. God I just love Miguel Vargas so much
  25. 2 points
Quero HR for Charlotte, 103mph 370 off a LHP
  26. Cleveland's jerseys tonight are some of the worst I've ever seen. Get some hits against this choade!!
  27. Just stay on the base and let the bats drive you in. I am sooo tired of these outs that take the bats out of our hands.
  28. Will gotta address this base running
  29. We need the offense to make this game not even close. Our pitching is struggling
  30. And the starter of that game? Gavin Williams. Let's do it again.
  31. I think it's a positive and he's implying we win tonight because the last time we won there was exactly 2 years ago :)
  32. Can someone archive this wretched memory?
  33. Ron following the rules, 3 wins in a row to take the series confirmed!
  34. I'm assuming a lot of the relief pitchers from last night won't be available this evening. Kay needs to have a solid start and pitch deep into it.
  35. My man Ron will the self ban if the Sox lose! Love the confidence! This is what we needed to right the ship after last night’s loss!
  36. This team is going to be frustrating in its immaturity at times… but it’s going to ( hopefully ) learn rapidly and is also why they’re so exciting on other days. Go get em today, go for the series… hope for at worse a split. Get Mune back… draft strong… and hopefully get some arms before the deadline.
  37. Our best pitcher having a bad night doesn’t mean unfinished product. If it was Fedde or Kay, then it would be a bad story. This is baseball, dudes have bad nights.
  38. Flush it - get em back tomorrow.
  39. Rock is 1A and lackey 1B for me. I don't want anything to do with a HS SS that isn't generational, even if the long tail upside case is higher than Roch or Lackey the downside risk is much, much higher.
