My wife told me 3.5 is actually huge. So I'm feeling pretty good about this division lead.

Big series win for your first place Chicago White Sox! With 61 wins, they have surpassed 2025's win total with 45 games remaining. They have 8 series wins, 2 splits, and 3 losses since last hosting CLE in June, despite the season apparently being over (at least) twice a week during that time. They lead the CLE season series 6-4, which means just one win in the remaining road series to secure the extra edge. DET won and MIN lost, so suddenly the Tigers have ridden an easy stretch of their schedule into 2nd place with the Sox 3.5 up. But DET and CLE face off next, which means one of them has to lose ground (and barring a sweep, both will still be under .500). Twins will be hosting the O's. Congrats to Hagen on career win #1 in his debut.

Have had some tough opponents/starters since the ASB: @TOR, @TEX, HOU, NYY, @TBR, @BOS, CLE. Finished 11-11. I take that every day.

He was using his best relievers to hold Cleveland at bay and hoping the offense would make it a less pressure packed 9th as opposed to using Richards earlier, giving up a run(s) and making the 9th dicier for whoever.

I think it was a tough call for Will but it worked out. Do you make Tanner, who has shaky control and no experience, go for the save in a tight game? Or do you go with Richards who has mostly gotten the job done mostly via smoke and mirrors? Knowing there's a risk that if Richards has a bad inning, McDougal has to be the one to come in for a very high-pressure save. Ultimately I think the plan all along was to try to hold Cleveland there while hoping the Sox could get a little insurance to reduce the pressure at the end. I doubt Grant was available. You're going to show your ass at some point when the bullpen has to cover 8.

All that matters is the W right now. Huge series win.

PCA couldnt make contact with a tennis racket the last half of last year and for a decent part of the beginning of this year. It's crazy to make statements about a guy a year into his big league career as if there's no room for improvement.

Smith was going to be 15 for us on FutureSox list that comes out tomorrow. Gabe Davis was 12 and Mason Adams was 13. They have two top 25 prospects in baseball but the system really isn't very good otherwise right now.

I’m as big a critic of the way this team operates as anyone. But I believe that the Sox are going to spend some money on this team if the talent arrives, endures. But they’re ahead of their schedule right now. It is what it is.
