Not long after we acquired Doyle, I commented somewhere on here about how fidgety he was at the plate. I think I phrased it as him looking like an amateur golfer who watched way too many YouTube swing videos. He had a dramatic toe tap, moving his body a ton pre-pitch like some sort of routine he felt was necessary. He looked awful. Now? Hes SO MUCH QUIETER in his stance. More upright, very slight toe tap, is not draining concentration from the pitcher by concentrating on some dumb movement. He looks like a completely different hitter. For as much s%*# as Getz fairly gets for the Castillo debacle, I think this Doyle move is going to prove to be a real winner, not only through this post season but also by adding another 20-30 dongs to our lineup next season. Huge props to the hitting staff for apparently fixing this kid.

Mine have been that I want to learn about the game I'm watching. Steve Stone gives good insight. Hawk and Wimpy were great in opening the player aspect of the game up to the listener. Schriff doesn't project much knowledge. If he played college ball, he should at least speak like a ball player.

Exactly. Eight playoff appearances in 11 years for Cle. 8 playoff appearances in 9 years for Milwaukee. 6 in 8 seasons for TB. That compared to the Sox 8 playoff appearances total over JR's entire 45-year reign. Thank God the Sox were able to catch lightning in a bottle in 2005, but that doesn't excuse how infrequently they've made the playoffs in the wild card era.

Truce. The playoffs are a reality now. The Sox are in it, we all just watched a young, fun team do something none of us could have truly predicted. Let’s bury grudges, arguments, resentment until the playoffs are over. That doesn’t mean don’t argue, that doesn’t mean put on a happy face about everything. That means things that have been going back and forth for 8 months stops until the playoffs are over. Forget what that person said in March, ignore the doom predictions made after the brewers series, and for gods sake let’s keep getz employed for a few more weeks. I’m not calling out anyone in specific, I am certainly guilty of both being incredibly pessimistic and bringing up old s%*#. It doesn’t have to be forever, let’s just enjoy the end of this summer ride into October and try to be a united front. Deal?

Yep, no one expected the Sox to compete for the division, fell just short but it was a fun ride, despite all our bitching, moaning and complaining. It's what we do as Sox fans haha

84 wins is a helluva accomplishment. I figured 84 would have a 4/5 chance at Divison a month ago and 85 would 100% have done it. Give the Tribe credit they took advantage of some breaks and got to 85. Glad some guys could be rested today and we knew last night instead of going for it today and not getting it. I give us a 60/40 chance to win the Astros series. They are not a good team and we've played better baseball the last three weeks.

Hit him 8th or 9th and hope he doesn't come up in a big spot. Maybe he'll run into one.

So good to see Mune with his swing in sync heading into the playoffs. That 6 week layoff probably messed him up, he would most likely have 45 homers right now if not for the injury.

I agree with this. It was a fun season. Remember the Sox shouldn't even be here yet. I bet no one here had them getting over 80 wins. The general consensus was around 68-72 wins

It would be a bad and demoralizing idea to do that to a young player who also helped get you there. You have 8 other guys out there, plus he's not a liability on the field. Of course he looks more lost since he has little MLB experience. We've gotten into this habit thinking young players are a finished product.

AL west comes down to tomorrow and with all games starting at the same time both Texas teams should have to use their best pitchers out of the pens to secure a victory. I think I'll root for 2 extra inning games.

Of course I'd love to play either of those teams again because that means we are in the AL championship series

I think we actually match up with Houston well. We just happened to get the Astros at a bad time when they were hot. They have bats but I would favor the white Sox. As long as the bats show up, we should be fine. Astros walk a lot of hitters.
