  1. What made anyone think Colas was even close to ready for the show? Dude looked overwhelmed by major league pitching. How does that get better in Charlotte?
  2. Who the hell is proclaiming Jake Burger as the future of the team? Colas is almost 25 and sported a 50 OPS+ in his first 25 games. That is no bueno. Highly unlikely he turns into anything to write home about.
  3. Dude sporting a -0.9 WAR according to Baseball Reference. Colas turns 25 this year as well. I'm not sure he will ever amount to anything in the big leagues.
  4. All those years of tanking down the drain with one AL Central championship to show for it.. Absolutely insane that Hahn and company are still employed. This organization is completely up shi$ creek with no paddle.
  5. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Oscar Colas is almost 25 years old. Dude is older than Tatis Junior. Let the kid play and flame out.
  6. Highly highly doubt Grifol gets fired this year. No way is JR paying him and Tony to both sit on the couch at home. I could see Grifol getting axed or "reassigned" during the offseason though.
  7. They are addressing the horrible play now so they don't have to in a few months. This is all about fake accountability as you say. As the season progresses, and the losses pile up, apathy and exhaustion will set in with both the fans and media. No one will care enough to even ask these clowns much of anything, and they can turn on their out of office responder and hit the links come mid summer.
  8. 90 is 100% a lock at this point. The real question is do they completely implode and lose over 100? It could happen with a few trades and a few more injuries. I also suspect Cease gets shut down sometime in August to preserve his arm for next year.
  9. Grandal isn't going to bring back much and should probably be traded before he gets hurt again. Grandal to the Yankees or Mets makes some sense.
  10. Agreed 100% The day Moncada is off the White Sox can't come soon enough. Eloy as well. It's time to dump them for pennies on the dollar and move on.
  11. This dude is having major back issues. Maybe he will be back by all star break? What a complete and total bust.
  12. I really hope something leaks out about what really went down with the Machado negotations one day. I agree that it was all a dog and pony show and there was never any intention of signing him at anything close to market rate. I'm sure the Sox offered something like 150 million over 7 years but that's like me offering 700K on a lake front mansion in Winnetka.
  13. You get an A on your term paper. Good use of primary sources to back up your claims. I hope you will consider enrolling in White Sox Angst and Frustration 102 next semester.
  14. Bump. Maybe 90 lossess was too optimistic. 100 losses looking like a real possibility here..
  15. Thanks for pulling these stats. The Sox are playing out the old saying "you can't win a division in April but you can certainly lose one" in real time. In a just world these clowns would be relegated on May1 and the Rosemont Hot Dogs ballclub would be brought up to take their place.
  16. You nailed it. This year is actually evidence that Tony got the most of the ballclub the last two years. The team has completely imploded now that he is gone. Let's see the almighty list! Please include the fan fiction where a different manager has the Sox beating the crap out of Houston back in October of 2021. I also hope there is a list going for Pedro. That list should be getting quite long already. Although I'm betting that despair is settling in and such a list is just an exercise in futility.
  17. The Cleveland Browns are actually a pretty good comp for the White Sox in terms of how their respective rebuilds turned out. It wasn't that long ago that the Browns were on the cover of Sports Illustrated and considered the next big thing in the NFL. Although I think the Browns may have actually won a playoff game so I guess their rebuild was more successful. Need more coffee. Not sure how I saw Browns out of Brewers. Please give me a mulligan for this Caulfieldesque post.
  18. or maybe it is a combination of the players and the organization? There were warning signs for all 3 of the big extensions ( Moncada, Eloy, Robert). It honestly feels the early extensions were a smokescreen in some regards. Hahn knew that no major free agents like Machado or Harper were coming. He could say most of the $$$ was already spent on extensions as a cover for JR's alligator arms.
  19. Dude made a bad career move taking the Sox gig. It will likely be his first and only manager job.
  20. TLR was a bad hire and a problem. However, his every single in game decision no matter how small was criticized beyond belief last year. There were entire threads dedicated to archiving his every in game move and then a bunch of piling on by posters. There was a faction of posters around here who placed 100% of the blame last year on Tony. That was the narrative the Chicago sports media was running with all offseason as well, that Tony was the problem and that a new manager and coaching staff would get this team back on track. . Most of the biggest TLR haters have gone awol now that their favorite punching bag is gone, however. You nailed it. The players assembled for this team are just not that good. There isn't a manager in the history of the game who could have won anything significant with the "core" assembled by Hahn. Rick Hahn has been in over his head as general manager of the White Sox since his first day on the job.
  21. The next rebuild, if it happens, is gonna take a lot longer than 4 years. A good 6-7 years of tanking seems about right.
  22. Ha. Quebec has the best poutine in Canada in my humble opinion. Maybe Montreal will get an expansion team down the road and MLB can bring back the Expos!
  23. Old friend Chris Bassit on the bump for Toronto. Dude always pitches well against the Sox it seems. Tonight gonna be a rough one but the Sox can get the next two.
  24. The narrative last year was extremely loud on how awful Tony was. Every loss was Tony's fault and Tony's fault alone. Entire threads were dedicated to archiving every questionable decision/move he made. Some posters were making WAR calculations for managers out of back of napkin math and credited Tony for at least 8 or 9 losses last year. Hell, one guy ( Balta something or other) wrote an entire thesis in a response to me that Tony was solely responsible for the 2021 ALDS beat down from Houston. A lot of those posters seem awol this year. No more easy punching bag for them I suppose. The Tony era is over. The stench on this team belongs to everyone in the organization.
  25. The Rays had an off day yesterday which will help them set up their pitching and gave them time to scout the Sox. Hope I'm wrong, but have a feeling they are going to have a solid scouting report on Kopech and will pounce early and often tonight.
