You missed a few asterisks.

Being a fan of the Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and University of Illinois has provided very little reason for optimism or enjoyment in the recent past. I don’t even have expectations of championships for any of them, either. I just want my teams playing meaningful games. I’d be happy being good enough to make the playoffs in the pro sports. Illinois being in the top 25% of the big 10 in football and basketball would be my goal. If any of them could sustain success for more than a season or two, I’m sure my expectations would change, but it has rarely happened in my lifetime. 80s Bears, 90s Bulls, 2010s Blackhawks had good runs. The Hawks were actually good in the 80s and early 90s, but thanks to Dollar Bill, I couldn’t watch them on tv, so they weren’t on my radar as much.

Guys (and gals?), take a look at your business card. If it says “White Sox Fan.” Don’t be surprised by this outcome. It’s part of the deal. In a way, it’s refreshing to know it won’t go well.

I don’t know if it’s a blessing or curse to have the free MLB tv thanks to TMobile. Every time I tune I, something bad happens.

Tex’s first post quoted in this thread describes my boys perfectly. Both very smart, but they’d always miss turning in assignments, so they would teeter at the A-/B+ or B-/C+ line in so many classes. They’d be humming along with great grades, then, boom, 0 out of 100 on a nothing assignment. I dreaded checking their grades. I was so happy when they finished HS and moved to college. Something about the college environment led them to be more responsible. I’ could own this site if I had a dollar for every time they told me, “I’ll talk to my teacher” about a missing assignment.

I don’t remember Ozzie having a 100 pitch thing, but I like it. Starters have to give innings even if it’s an bad night for them. The bullpen will burn out halfway through the season if they have to log 4-5 innings a game. It felt like TLR pitched guys every day last season.

International sporting competitions are all pretty great. Kind of hard not to get into the “USA USA” spirit and think, “These fans of the other country are dicks.” Then again, so are ours. Fun game. Turned it on in the 5th for the Bard meltdown. DeRosa left him in too long. The Turner slam was fantastic. Can’t wait for tonight v. Cuba.

If you can get a drink and something to eat at an entertainment venue for $10 these days, you’re doing pretty well.

Part 2 is also really good. Good Fisk stuff about halfway through.

Great perk for TMobile customers. I had MLB Network for a few years, and the number of times I tuned in and randomly caught them talking about the Sox could be counted on less than two hands. As an out of towner, it’s nice to just be able tune into the games and get it free.

That’s gonna get old really fast. I’m already a little tired of it.

I loved that Sox team and hated the A’s. They were such d-bags. The opening scene where the stadium was shown pre-white paint makes me wonder who thought painting it was a good idea. The nostalgic me wishes they never tore it down, but I also remember “seeing” quite a few games there with an obstructed view thanks to my Perfect Attendance tickets. I don’t know that there’s anything they could have done to remedy that. CF bleachers we’re the place to be.

It feels a little rushed to me, but it’s definitely an improvement. I wouldn’t be surprised if they agree to add a little more time. I’m also not crazy about a player getting an automatic strike if he takes a little while to collect himself in the 9th inning of a big game. We’ll see how that plays out. Overall - big improvement. Stone and Benetti are going to have to squeeze the Nationwide jingle in at 45RPM.

Reinsdorf saved some money again this winter. He can probably afford it.

McCarver was a target of the Chicago sports radio guys for saying stuff they deemed obvious, but I always liked him. RIP.

Yep. Radio in kitchen tuned to WGN hoping to hear my “parochial” school named while simultaneously watching the scroll on the Bozo Show looking for the same. Highest of highs and lowest of lows depending on the outcome.

I guess I’m missing something with the angst over the Nationwide ad. What I hear is only 5-10 seconds long on the MLB app. Is it repeated multiple times on the local broadcast?

Thanks. I guess I should have made it more clear that I think they “should” have an obligation to disclose this type of stuff… However, much like I felt with PEDs, I have a feeling they were plenty of whispers, so shame on the Sox for not doing their due diligence.
