No. White Sox didn't have an advantage last year. White Sox were a mostly a .500 team against EAST-Central-West and Inter-league. They were a .500 team against every division by 1-2 games in each direction.- 4/14 - BAL at CWS - Wells vs Clevinger - 7:10 PM ET
I thought you had a great summary in the first paragraph but I think you lost it in the 2nd one. In 2022, the White Sox finished 15-17 against the East, 37-39 w Central, 18-16 w West and 11-9 against inter-league. So in 2022, they basically finished within a game of .500 against every division in baseball. So the White Sox did not "benefit" from playing their own division since they were really .500 against every division they played. They were really a perfect .500 team.- Merkin with pretty honest assessment
Even with some minor injuries to Eloy and Moncada and a more serious injury to TA, the Sox have been hitting the ball pretty well. I am concerned about BB since the Sox continue to not be patient at the plate. But outside of Cease the starters and bullpen have struggled. I do hope the offensive will be good once the lineup is restored but further injuries will hurt because the bench seems pretty weak. The Pitching needs to come around or the Sox will really struggle since most of the starters and relievers have been up and down.- 4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series
That would be Chaim Bloom the former Senior VP of Baseball Operations who the Red Sox hired in 2019 to become Chief Baseball Officer. Bloom's new roster construction quickly developed a last place finish in 2022 and the 2023 outlook is just as bad as the White Sox. Bloom may be is on thin ice for 2023- If Anderson has suffered a serious knee injury…and team struggles into May at 14-19/13-20
I asked you the same question last week. Despite a very mediocre season last year, the Sox increased attendance by 300,000+ in 2022. While will attendance crater this year if it increased last year despite TLR and a lot of injuries? I think 2023 will see attendance up by over 500,000.- 2023 Predictions
White Sox attendance was up in 2022 over 2021 by 12.5% despite a poor showing. I think it will be up again to 2 Million this year.- How many wins do you need by the ASB to still be IN?
I think it is too early to determine that. As long as the Central is mediocre, the Sox can trend at .500 till August and then push into the 1st spot in September in the Central. However, if any Central team other than Sox opens up a large lead, then trending at .500 may put the Sox outside looking in if multiple East or West teams are having good years.- Eloy to IL, low grade hamstring strain - retroactive to 4/4
Lip: Not sure how you concluded that White Sox fans have scaled back interest in the White Sox. The 2022 Sox attendance was up over 2020. I will assume with a new Manager, attendance will be up to begin this season as well. Are season tickets down over the 2022 season? As a fan, I think a new manager will increase interest with the team to begin a new season this early . What do you base interest scaled back so far this season?- Kopech

But Kopech was still just warming his arm up yesterday as well. Hopefully next start will be an improvement.- Kopech
Let's hope so. He had a poor spring giving up 11 runs in 12 inning but you can only take so much out of Spring training results. Hopefully he shows more next start.- GT: 4/1 | Sox (1-1) @ Astros (1-1) | Giolito vs. Urquidy
Vaughn is hitting .143. Lets not move him anywhere this early.- 3/30 OPENING DAY GT: Sox @ Astros (Cease v Valdez) 6PM ESPN
Nice everyone except Eloy had a hit and the Sox had 11 for the game. Nice opening day start.- Batting Order
I would only say that 3rd is a key position which Abreu has held for a while. This is fine to start the year but if Moncada struggles early, you cannot be as patient with a 3 hitter as some other spots. I am not sure Benintendi is a 3 , as much as a 6 or 7, so I am not sure how we reassign the 3 if Moncada struggles- Benintendi: "Where I Should Be" with the Sox
Certainly money is an issue. But so is playing time/position. I think the Sox thought Beni would be the full time left-fielder where the Yankees thought he was more apt to be a platoon guy. I think he has a great chance to be an everyday outfielder.- 3/8 Sox vs Royals, 7:05PM CT, Bally Sports KC
He was pitching left-handed tonight.- 2/26 Game Thread White Sox @ Angels - 2:10 Chicago time
Just a reminder about Spring Training games, especially in Florida. Most teams limit training games to home teams. So if the Red Sox are playing the Yankees in Tampa, the Red Sox will limit "MLB " players from travelling 3 hours back and forth to play a 3 or 4 inning game before they start subbing. Instead most of the "MLB" players will work out in their own facilities and play the next day at home. Only games that are played close by or because a certain player( especially a starter) needs live competition see "MLB" players spending 4-6 hours riding a bus to games. Red Sox Saturday played mostly minor leaguers Saturday on the road and mostly starters yesterday at home- Leury not on OD Roster per DVS
"I've seen Leury play for a while. Leury's a talented player. I haven't spoken to him yet. I find this strange. I would think a new manager would have had a conversation, even if it was brief, with every member of the 25 man roster the first few days of camp. Even if it was just a hi, a handshake, and a welcome aboard. Worse case at least a cell call to say hello.- 2023 26-man roster as of TODAY, updated after each transaction
Let's hope Colas has at least a decent spring or the plan becomes more complicated- Grifol on instituting new team culture, Robert tutoring Colas in FL
But supposedly he was a better manager hammered than when he was bright and alert.................- 2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
I would add the starters as well. If you can't/won't move the prospects, then the next move is to try and trade a starter or two to improve the overall roster. Maybe last fall, 1 or 2 of Moncada, Anderson, Vaughn, Eloy, Robert or Hendricks could have been moved to try and improve the overall roster without affecting the SP. Now, Abreu is gone, so Vaughn probably has to stay and Hendricks has health issues so he can't be moved as well. Maybe that is too much work on the Front Office to try and trade Anderson, Robert or Eloy and try and create a better overall roster.- The White Sox over/under for 2023 wins is 83.5
I don't think 90 wins, but I would say 87. - One step closer to the basement!
