Ramos getting called up

Recommended Posts

Ramos must be so pissed. He knows he needs more years in MiLB but here he is rushed to the majors. Pay raise. Plane rides. Big crowds. Ok, maybe not the big crowds.

He's angry because he knows he won't be in Chicago for long, but instead he'll ultimately be in Nashville.

Robert should be back by middle of June. Moncada should be back by middle of July or maybe late July. No rush for Ramos right now he has at least 50 games ahead of him at 3B before a decision needs to be made. Ideally Moncada would get hot as the DH/3B and then be traded for anything.

Robert will be back well before the middle of June.  He'll on a rehab within 10 days.

If you’re bringing Moncada back into the lineup, the most asinine thing you can do IMO is to move him from 3B. His defense at 3B is his biggest asset at this point. If he can come back before the deadline, you showcase any strengths he has so you can maximize returns if possible for a trade.

Yeah, just play Ramos at 2nd until Moncada is gone.

Then Ramos could play 2B for 2 weeks, and if Moncada isn't traded, Moncada moves around the diamond, and the Future plays 3B.

Yep.

or, more realistically, Ramos comes down to earth when the league figures him out. He then goes down to AA or AAA to work to patch those holes and make adjustments.

either scenario works for me.

Would like to see Ramos play some 2b. I’m optimistic that we have a pretty good infield coming up with Montgomery, Gonzalez and Baldwin joining Ramos in a year or two, but I wonder how they all fit. I would guess Colson moves to 3b and Gonzalez sticks at short, so it would be nice if Ramos could play 2b

You are most likely correct.

Hopefully he's excited about a chance to earn a roster spot and stick with the club. Out with the old, in with the new.

It's like mountain climbing, climb high, sleep low until you're acclimated.

I'm done with Moncada as a fan. Wish they'd let him do a minor league 3-game rehab then when teams see he's OK trade him for ice cubes. Get rid of him please.

Moncada won't be traded. No one is taking on that contract with that injury risk. Even if it is just half a season.

That's the goal. With his salary, likely meeds more than just 3 AAA games to show he is the same elite defender at 3B

The Sox can cover his remaining salary for this year and the $5 million buyout to move him. There would be no risk for the other team if that’s what happens.

Maybe the rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube, just pluralized like Roberts.

Years ago, the Rockies had a journeyman player named Pacheco who was up and down a bit, and when he was called up the reporter asked what the biggest difference is, he said better food and walked away.

It seems obvious Ramos will stick around even when Danny Mendick returns off the 10-day injured list.

“It’s not obvious,” Grifol countered.

OK. Never mind.

“He’s got to continue to play,” Grifol said. “This is not a four out of seven (series). This is a long haul. He’s doing really well right now. We’re taking it day by day with him. We’re not going to be quick to evaluate — ‘He’s staying the whole year’ or ‘He’s going down.’

“That’s not how this process is going to work. Right now he’s doing everything he’s capable of doing to show he belongs here. He’s putting good at-bats together and playing good defense, but at the same time he’s extremely young. This is his first taste of the big leagues.”

This feels weird to type, but that kind of makes sense.

Ozzie was talking about how big a dude Ramos is at 6'2 225 yet is still nimble. Ramos was flashing some leather last night showing he is capable at 3rd.

Also Ozzie said when Moncada comes back he should go to 2nd base.  Fine with me.
