GT 6/30 Twins @ White Sox 7:10 PM CDT

Recommended Posts

White Sox will be looking for their 3rd straight win and 2nd against the Twins after a nail biter in the series opener concluded with a White Sox 7-6 victory.

Tonight's game will feature Bailey Ober pitching for the Twins and Dylan Cease for the Sox.

Ober is 0-0 with a 4.64 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. This will be Ober’s second career game against the White Sox.

Cease is 6-3 with a 3.81 ERA and 96 strikeouts this season. Cease is 0-2 with a 9.18 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his career against the Twins.

On a side note we'll see if there is any drama carried over from the War of Words between Josh Donaldson and Lucas Giolito.

LET'S GO !

Obviously we need to score a lot of runs to beat the Twins who can really hit the ball. I hope Sheets or Yermin can pop a 3 run homer. How about a blowout win for a change?  A two run lead into the 9th no longer seems that comfortable.

Was it Ober when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Since Yermin can't hit anymore, I'd just prefer Hamilton in CF and Goodwin in RF. DH Sheets. The Vaughn-Goodwin-Sheets OF may be the worst defensive OF in the majors.

This bit sponsored by Oberon, official wheat beer of the Chicago White Sox (except for Jose).

Yermin knocked in 3 runs on Sunday. and has hit in three straight appearances (4 for 9). Worth repeating the outfield from yesterday, or swapping Hamilton (the Sox fifth OFer) for Goodwin (DFA candidate in July/August) in the lineup.

Of the Sox pitchers, I don't believe any had a more dramatic decrease in spin rate, outing over 2021 average, this month than  Dylan Cease's last outing against Pittsburgh.

Dylan Cease vs. Pittsburgh (first game for Dylan after inspections began)

  • Four Seam Fastball -259
  • Slider -185
  • Knuckle Curve -148
  • Changeup -104

Wonder what comments Josh has in store for tonight, or if Cease's lack of sticky may hit Josh in his big fat mouth.

Love the early game thread, thanks.

Random baseball observation...I was reading a little ditty this morning about Ohtani taking over the Home Run lead...so then I looked at the standings and the Angels are under .500...how frustrating must it be these days to be an Angels fan?....superstar talent and they spend $$ but have been getting nowhere lately.

Not that I should feel sorry for another fan base....speaking of other fan bases....screw the Twins and the horse their fans rode in on...let's bury these asshats for the season!!!!

Love that Song!!!!

Not to be critical, but if they made one of the girls in the beginning a redhead, that would've turned up the video to 11.

Alright, here is a redhead, Kari Wuhrer, and Ken Ober's two other sidekicks, Adam Sandler and Dennis Leary. Yes youngsters, you read that right.

And for those interested in White Sox baseball, June 4 game highlights include a few pertinent performances:

  • Billy Hamilton's defense is more important than any offense Brian Goodwin theoretically provides.
  • On a warm day with the wind blowing out, Nick Madrigal can go yard.
  • Yasmani is a first ballot HOFer.
  • Jake Lamb is not an outfielder.
  • Making outs on the bases is stupid.
  • Healthy or not, Evan Marshall is a borderline AAA/AAAA pitcher at this point.
  • Yermin Mercedes is clutch and should continue playing with DH Eloy out.

Always liked Kari Wuhrer back in the day.

Among guys with 30 or more AB, Zach Collins is 2nd on the team behind Grandal in OPS vs RHP in the last 30 days, so yeah, let's sit him.

Mercedes and his 500 OPS since May needs to be in there

I like this idea. You are right it is a horrible outfield with Goodwin, Vaughn and Sheets. Case in point Goodwin and Sheets both misjudging flyballs last night.

Every day someone doesn't like someone in or out of the lineup. You're always dealing with short sample sizes when it come to all these guys. You can play who is hot, you can play matchups  , you can play better defenders , you can play guys in slumps you want to break out of them. There are no perfect players . Anyone in the lineup can be the hero or the goat on any given day. Hopefully enough of them do enough good things to get a W.
