I'd say put a silly value on him and if teams dont meet it just keep him.6 points

Maybe, but Joc Pederson was also supposed to be traded to the Sox. Too bad that move never happened.3 points

The comparison to Hamilton is ridiculous. Abrams hit tool is light years ahead of Hamilton's. I am not sure why so many here are afraid of high school players who are good athletes. The reality is that the Sox haven't many high school kids and certainly none this high so you can't really say they can't develop them.3 points

If the FO agrees with you we will extend Colome and Abreu soon. If they think the window is further out they are massive trade chips not unlike Eaton and Q. We are in the catbird seat IMO.2 points

Yes, let's avoid acquiring a top 50 prospect for a RP because the last similar trade has not reaped immediate benefits. BRILLIANT I SAY, JUST BRILLIANT!2 points

I'm sorry but there is absolutely no way a guy named Spencer Torkelson becomes a valuable major leaguer2 points

I've been barking up the top 50 prospect tree for awhile and have taken a lot of shit on here for it. If he doesn't implode I am 100% confidient we will get something in that range.2 points

I would do the same. I guess maybe we can say we are going to spend big on it in the offseason considering we have all that Machado money to spend. Damnit, now I kind of want Abrams again. F it, reverse auction and take whoever goes further under slot.2 points

It’s just one dude that keeps posting about it over and over so it seems like multiple people2 points

Jason made the comment during a game broadcast about the Sox inching toward .500 and then sliding back. To me, one explanation was obvious and that is the lack of depth in pitching. A team can't go into a long winning streak with a weak rotation. And right now Lopez has me concerned, and he was supposed to be reliable. Then there was the ugliness in Minnesota. Right now I'll just enjoy the winning streak. Just please, no more trading for prospects.2 points

This is a weird take given that the Sox developed Tyler flowers from an incompetent back stop to a + backstop.1 point

Catching metrics are about as reliable as Adam Engel with an at bat in a big moment - especially this early in a season. McCann has been, by most accounts, one of the better defensively catchers in baseball this year. A catchers defensive impact is so difficult to measure. It is one of the few things in which I'll actually accept "eye tests" from scouts on.1 point

I like Bleday a lot. Think he's going to be a really really good ball player. That said, I think almost everyone the Sox have on their board I like. Most all of the guys can make an impact on both sides of the ball, with the lone exception being Vaughn and in his case, that hit tool is special so I get it if they go with them. For once in a long time, I literally don't think they can go wrong with who they pick.1 point

Can’t explain why but I usually want the Sox to pick a HS player but I can’t get myself excited about Abrams1 point

quoting an old post but I agree with this sentiment. I don't like Toll roads, but right now EVs don't pay a gas tax despite being harder on infrastructure than the equivalent size ICE vehicle (EVs are really heavy).1 point

Guys speed is good. And Abrams has a good hit tool, he makes a lot of contact and has good feel to hit. He does the things people claim to love in this forum like go the opposite way when it takes him. What he hasn’t learned to do yet is translate the power into games, but he’s in high school, is likely to fill out, and has a sixty raw power grade. I really don’t understand how this forum is so traumatized by the few high schoolers this team has drafted in the last decade despite being the most heavily college focused team in the league. Notice we aren’t particularly good at drafting! check out the top 100 lists and how the top 30s are filled with HS guys and INTL. Them going up against better competition at younger ages has made many better prospects.1 point

As much crap as I give Renteria (well deserved in my opinion) if he can get this rag-tag bunch to .500 or so for the year he deserves some Manager of the Year votes. I mean the pitching staff is in shambles, the clean up hitter is batting .180, the "superstar" prospect is at .220 and they are almost last in defense. Yet somehow they are two games under .500. I don't know if that says something about the Sox or about the league in general.1 point

Was at the game...4-0 on the year now. Crowd wasn't huge maybe 18-20K?, but they were definitely into the game where i was sitting..good to see. There is a noticeable different vibe with this team, mostly because they are winning more games this year. Ricky tried to screw it up by leaving Banuelos in there too long, but Marshall bailed him out. I know he is NOT a good OF, but Eloy is a joy to watch out there as a player. He really enjoys playing baseball and doesn't take himself seriously, which I appreciate. Once we starts playing well it will even be more fun to watch him play. I also heard him on the post game on the radio, his English is pretty good for a young player coming over. No matter where they finish, this is definitely a fun team to watch compared to last few years.1 point

Really interesting Draft post went up at FanGraphs. Very good read on some draft strategies/proclivities/trends as well as grouping up certain player archetypes and breaking down the differences of particular players that fall within them. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/introduction-to-the-2019-draft-board/1 point

Nope. Not affiliated. Just the opinion of one writer. Have you looked at prospect lists though? Some of the OF's aren't doing well currently but it's one of the strengths of the system. Eloy, Robert, Gonzalez, Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford, Steele Walker, etc. They have lots of guys. That's all it means.1 point

There is nothing "dumb" about fans wanting to see good baseball and caring about winning games. When you explain how other people only think about the little "micro" unimportant things...makes you sound like a pompous A**.1 point
