I’m so tired of this tightwad not doing everything he can to put a World Series team on the field. It isn’t fair to all of us who invest so much time and money on this franchise. Sell the team Jerry. /rant14 points

I'm just here to say: Fck this team. Fck Jerry Reinsdorf. Fck Kenny Williams and "the money will be spent." Fck Rick Hahn and the "We're saving our money so we can be aggressive when the window opens." Fck Bob Nightengale and the "Sox spent 54 million on Hendriks in 2021" when they spent 11 million because 13 million was too steep for their budget this year. Fck trading for one year of Lance Lynn and proclaiming you were "all-in" while running a payroll lower than last year. Fck Adam Eaton and his stupid face that I have to look at because the Sox are so cheap. Fck the Sox fans who have laughed the Blue Jays for "overpaying" because they actually want to win and supplement their young core and try to win a championship. Fck the Sox who likely gave Tony LaRussa 20-30% of the salary that they gave their highest paid off-season acquisition despite him being a bumbling, fumbling, stupid drunk. Fck this off-season that I saw coming from a mile away. And thank god I cancelled my season tickets when they signed LaRussa because this team doesn't deserve a single dollar of my money while they spit in fans faces for 5 years telling them when the time came, the pocket book would be open. Oh, and fck their fake pursuit of Machado which couldn't be anymore obvious now that 11 million dollars has destroyed their budget. EOM9 points

And acting like $54M over four years is this massive number is beyond laughable. I’m fucking appalled at guys like Nightengale & Sullivan carrying the water for this cheap fuck.7 points

Hopefully Jerry put money in Gamestop. Then we could sign Bauer.6 points

Oh, and fck NotCishek, PortillosBlows, and AlsBeefsShouldNotHaveCheese for all their stupid tweets which were obviously made up - not breaking news - and their constant "the sox are in on everyone" when the Sox literally didn't even talk about these players internally. Now EOM.4 points

Remember when for no reason at all the Sox fed nightengale to say they specifically NOT going to put a bid on for Harper after losing Machado? They knew they wouldn’t get him, but this made sure a fellow owner didn’t negotiate against themselves.4 points

Jerry sure likes to dangle that carrot to 2nd place finishes4 points

Leury Garcia, Reynaldo Lopez and Adam Eaton for 13.5 million seems like a poor allocation of resources if that is the case.4 points

The problem there is the slogan is power to the player. Not power to the owner.4 points

The kid is one of the top hitting prospects in baseball. Why wouldn't people be high on him?4 points

They are literally gambling an entire season on Katz being our savior with all these young arms instead of spending a measly $6M or so to bring in another starter? It’s beyond mind-boggling.3 points

So some fun facts about our rotation now that it’s final per Stone: Cease will be our #4 starter and is coming off a 6.36 FIP season where he ranked in the bottom 5th percentile for xwOBA Lopez will be our #5 starter to open the season and is coming off a 7.63 FIP year where he ranked in the bottom 13th percentile for xwOBA Kopech will be our #6 starter and has not pitched in a professional game in 875 days and will be on a strict innings limit Stiever will be our #7 starter and has a total of 6.1 innings above A+ in which he put up a 12.35 FIP while showing underwhelming stuff What could go wrong here?3 points

Jerry left the Bulls to Michael a few years ago. If jerry were still in control, GarPax and Boylan would still be there. His family is keeping the Bulls and selling the White Sox after he croaks or is too decrepit to serve as White Sox Chairman. Sox fans have reason for hope after Jerry is gone, based on the competent decisions after Jerry's stench left the United Center. The Blackhawks also flourished after Bill Wirtz croaked. This was a 50/50 town, until Reinsdorf and Einhorn took over, and destroyed the fan base and any goodwill built over the previous 80 years. Him and the drunken, criminal manager jerry dug up from the grave after 10 years of "retirement". Jerry himself said last Spring Training Tony La Russa has ZERO business returning managing, that he cannot relate to young players. Yet another DUI arrest later, and here we are. The Baseball HOF is not owned or controlled by MLB. Other owners really don't care that Jerry brought in yet another crony selection into the HOF. Jerry doesn't give a rats ass about White Sox history pre 1980. To him, the White Sox organization began in 1981, and he doesn't care what happens after he is dead, just that he dies with over $2 Billion +.3 points

The league average is 107 million. White Sox are currently at 120 million, so above average, 13th in the league, right above the Jays and below the Cubs. I firmly believe the pandemic played a major role in the Sox not pursuing more targets this offseason, like pretty much every other team except for the Mets (Padres don't count...they traded everyone) Depth is the scary thing. No doubt. But...I wouldn't say the Sox are being cheap right now.3 points

Honestly, it’s so hard being a Sox fan because I’d love nothing more than for Jerry to never see another playoff team in his lifetime, but obviously not at the expense of the players and is Sox fans. Just sucks having such a shitty owner atop the organization you love.3 points

That is an excellent allocation of resources. Sign another corner OF, sign a legitimate SP who is actually good now like as in this day and age, sign a quality bat (maybe same as corner OF) and that's a team that is still deep but also allows key prospects an open door. There's no excuse for the dorf having the kind of offseason he's had after pocketing so much money for so long, running out shit on the field. People will defend him (not so much here anymore thankfully, but certainly in the media) but he deserves total blame for this shit offseason. It's easy as pie to fill in the blanks for the 2021-22 Sox. All of the heavy lifting has been done. All they need to do is patch a few holes with short-term solutions, and they can't even do that. Fuck you reinsdorf.3 points

Never thought they’d get Cruz. It’s the lack of anything else since Hendriks which is disappointing.3 points

I'm completely ok trading Vaughn and signing someone like Ozuna.3 points

I guess we'll need Vaughn to go the TA route and try at catcher, otherwise he's going to struggle for playing time.3 points

I’d definitely love him as the figurehead of a potential ownership group.2 points

Really wish there was SoxFest this year so fans could go to town on Jerry & the front office.2 points

It might save the Twins some money, but ultimately it will also save JR some money if he let's the Twins know he won't be bidding against them.2 points
-
The worst part is Jerry is only 84, knowing our luck we’ll be stuck with him for 16 more years.2 points

Jerry Reinsdorf ladies and gentlemen. Would rather save a rival owner some money than shut up and let them believe they are in.2 points

No no no. It’s that Jerry will not let his team be a bidding prop in the media because that raised players salaries. And suppressing salaries is Jerry’s #1 goal.2 points

To say the Sox spent $54 million on Hendriks is ridiculous. Signing Cruz (or any DH) would affect the 2021 budget, to which $11 million is allocated for Hendriks. Nightengale sucks, feeding info from the Sox or not.2 points

On the bright side, the team should still be really good. I just wish they were aggressive. You trade 6 years of Dunning for 1 year of Lynn, you would think time is of the essence. Hendriks was an aggressive signing, but Eaton was a compromise, and who knows what else. I am really scared about the pitching.2 points

And here I keep waiting for that surprise in a couple days. What am I going to do now?2 points

This isn't rocket science. The Sox don't have a deep farm, but they have some quality at the top and some interesting potentially fast movers in the lower portions. They have enough for a potentially long contention window, provided they keep their pieces. All the fuck they ever had to do was sign quality stopgap solutions. That's it. The total failure and ineptitude of this organization and the cheap stubbornness of ownership should not make people think about trying to reinvent the wheel. Players like Vaughn are the ideal: young, cheap, truly excellent, under control for a very long time, fits his position, potential future All-Star and franchise piece. If you could load up an entire organization with one type of player, it is that type of player. The Sox are going to Bartolo Colon/D'Angelo Jimenez/Mat Latos/Jimmy Rollins this thing like they usually do. But let's still keep the best players because when the shit hits the fan we're still going to need to call up someone who is worth a shit. And the idea of trading a cheap asset and then signing someone more expensive -- exactly what precedent have you seen set by this organization anywhere at any level that says such a move is going to work out for the long haul? Eventually the old rat is going to croak. That's the one thing we can hope for. Until then, it is especially important to keep the Vaughns and Kopechs of the system.2 points

Cruz doesn't bother me. It's not going after another decent pitcher that does.2 points

I'm 100% down with the sign Ozuna 4 yrs, trade Vaughn for German Marquez/Gallen/Woodruff/Burnes/any elite SP strategy....2 points

If Vaughn is gonna be on the table in any trade sign Ozuna2 points

Fuck it, offer Cruz a higher AAV than Minnesota for this year and then do the Bobby Bonilla treatment. Give him like $2 million a year for the next 10 years instead of a guaranteed 2nd year.2 points

Some folks I know that are fairly connected to the Twins think Cruz is pretty much a guarantee to return to MN, FWIW.2 points

You could almost read this as the White Sox trying to cost the Twins some money and another year on a deal.2 points

I'm not even mad that the Sox aren't going to overpay Bauer, but it's absolutely pathetic they can't even put together a legitimate effort for Q, Paxton or Tanaka.2 points

If it's really just a two team race, and some of you guys think it'll be resolved today, then I'm not sure how this tweet got glossed over. It makes it seem like he's far more likely to sign with the Sox2 points
