I'm so tired of listening to Getz talk and do his rounds like he has accomplished anything (Other then losing the most games in history). He seems so prideful and boastful of this process/rebuild he is putting in place. He needs to STFU and talk less until his teams on the field play the type of baseball that will bring many of us back. Loser organization always doing loser things.

Going back 20 years? Okay… Well, the White Sox have been a team in existence since 1901. The Padres have only been around since 1969. That’s 68 more seasons that the White Sox have played. In 68 less seasons, the Padres have 8 playoff appearances while the White Sox only have 11 with an insane advantage of time. Let me repeat that — in 68 more seasons of baseball, the White Sox have only been to the playoffs 3 more times than the Padres. That’s flat-out embarrassing no matter how you try to justify [sugarcoat] it. I’m pretty sure this stat is also still accurate — among all 30 MLB teams, the White Sox have the worst ratio of playoff appearances (11) compared to their total seasons in existence (124). Meanwhile, the Padres have to compete with the Dodgers while the White Sox division is typically one of the weakest in all of baseball. If you think the Padres are a pathetic franchise worthy of your jokes, what does that make the White Sox? Finally, what does your last sentence even mean? Why can’t the White Sox start acting like a major market team and do both — spend money AND win championships? Yes, “LOL” indeed. 🤡

Dick Allen played 9 years in Philly, not 6. He played 3 years in Chicago not 9.

Joey Gallo hit 10 homers in 223 at bats last year; he could lead us in homers. Sox are the oldest young team in baseball history. ... Seriously why not fricking bring Abreu back if Gallo is gonna get a lot of playing time? Abreu probably could hit 25 homers in 2024-25 with our Sox.

What you're losing with Fedde and Crochet you could be gaining in the number of starters who could be solid in the 3-5 rolls. There's more depth. I think there's also more depth for a better bullpen. I know it's easy to look at the amount of strange veteran arms and some of the younger arms and think of it as better than last year. It is deeper and they're going to sort through a lot of arms . Maybe Trey McGough, Shane Smith ,Peyton Pallette, Addison Coffey and others can eventually give solid contributions. They have more arms that had pretty good years last year but they are pretty unfamiliar to the average fan.

If people think Gallo is washed than I don’t even know what Abreu would be considered.

These are the types of signings they should be making. If anything, it makes the signing of other washed up vets to guaranteed deals earlier in the offseason look even more questionable.

I could see it. It is before he gets expensive. Not his peak as a performer, but peak value is a reasonable thought IMO. And if you are staring at 121 losses, than more than likely at least 100, then probably another not so good year, you are looking at the first possible year of contention, his last year of control. That is if a ton of stuff that never goes right for the White Sox, goes right. You're going to lose him anyway. We have gone from Hahn saying things that actually meant nothing, to Getz saying things that don't quite add up in reality.

This Dodgers one is particularly baffling cause they've shared Camelback for so long that Getz was a player for the Sox when it first opened. If this magical success-by-osmosis was going to happen, it'd have probably happened by now. Why didn't Chris walk over to their minor league fields in the past 8 years and figure out how to run a farm?

Anyone that thinks being a White Sox fan over a Padres fan is delusional. There is zero reason to be a White Sox fan currently absolutely nothing to look forward to until JR joins Virginia and Rocky. These are the same times as when the ABC line was the "big thing" for the Blackhawks.

Ok wait. 1/2 of February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September. Maybe October. Without counting October, that's 7.5-ish months. March and April are thus 25% of the MLB year. So basically, TJS is effectively random for most teams. Out of the last set of TJS operations done for the White Sox on guys whose names I recognize: Guys who got hurt or did the surgery right around ST: Jimmy Cordero Garrett Crochet Matt Foster Davis Martin Jesse Scholtens Ky Bush Guys who had it at some other time in the year: Evan Marshall Liam Hendriks If 25% of the injuries are associated with Spring Training, and out of the last 8 big leaguers - 6 of the 8 White Sox had them in Spring Training or right after, that is a huge overconcentration. Might even count as statistically significant as an outlier. This pattern also does not continue back into the 2010s, because guys like Rodon and Kopech were having it mid-season. Edit: now that I think about it, Hendricks basically counts as a spring training TJS also since they rushed him back from f***ing Chemotherapy to the big leagues with only like 6 innings of work, no time for his body or arm to recover.

As Balta's been saying, that's not even proof. Veterans might be working on just a single pitch...like a secondary offering they're trying to incorporate. Most of those guys aren't going to be amped to full velocity until the back end of spring training. You're going to be facing a number of AA/AAA pitchers, in all likelihood. Remember guys like Ryan Sweeney or Wilson Betemit having huge springs??? It meant absolutely nothing in the overall scheme of things...once the regular season started and you shift from AZ to cold weather/outside baseball, with all the advantage to the pitchers until at least mid-May in Chicago.

Worst contract of all time?

I don’t buy that there are when you count Meidroth, who I want up early in the year also - a guy with a .400 OBP at AAA last year won’t learn much by repeating the level. The only way I see it being no problem is if the veteran, Rojas, gets glued to the bench. The next time the White Sox sign a field general veteran and bench him for rookies will probably be the first. I’m guessing he gets his 500 PAs, which maybe leaves the others with 300-400? And that’s before Baty or someone like that and maybe Ramos, if healthy. In terms of Montgomery, I outlined this in another thread - I hate calling Montgomery up even if he has a good spring. His problems last year were possibly a back injury, hitting fastballs, and maybe another personal issue. In spring training he won’t be playing full games everyday, and he will be against pitchers who are ramping up and who aren’t yet using their best fastballs. This is a setup where he could absolutely look good in the spring and have it be a mirage. Send him to AAA, let him show me that last year was a fluke while playing everyday, and he can come up mid May. If, for example, he starts playing everyday and his back flares up again, clearly this will be a longer term problem that needs figured out, and he will be accumulating service time if he comes up and then winds up on the IL. Gimme 6 solid weeks at AAA and no complaints if he’s called up, but coming off last season he needs to prove to me that last season is a mirage.

He knew what he was walking into. This is basically year zero. You can at least see a semblance of a future team. Could not do that last year.

At that time, this dude could have ended up in jail as a real possibility. I get the thought behind this non-pick for sure. Yeah it didn't work out, but if this dude destroyed himself with the Bears, which was a real possibility, that would have been WAY worse. 8 other teams also passed on him.

Should have happened a long time ago when he was alive. One of the most electric players in sports history. Well deserved. Hope his family enjoys this forever. Anybody who saw Dick Allen play for the Sox realizes he is a Hall of Famer.
