  1. I have no regrets on trading Crochet. Only had two seasons before free agency, limited track record of success, and significant injury history. I wish him the best but it made no sense for the Sox to hang onto him given how soon he hits free agency and how little sense it would make for the Sox to give him a long-term, high-dollar extension like the Red Sox chose to. Whether these particular players pan out, I don't know. That's the occupational hazard. But trading him was the right decision and the perceived value of the players the Sox received exceeded my expectations.
  2. Shriffen: Rojas is the pros pro. He shows the young kids how to play. He says this team is similar to the Az Dbacks team he was on. Everyone loves Josh Rojas Rojas *rolls into double play*
  3. Can we sent Vargas to Milwaukee instead of Arizona?
  4. Give Teel a 1b glove, call up Lee, and let Quero catch almost all of the time.
  5. He was out there for the statue yesterday. I saw a video of someone telling him "thank you for selling the team."
  6. In defense of Getz, Robertson was on the way to Charlotte but Elko hurt his knee and Robertson had to make a u turn.
  7. Danger Will Robertson. You suck.

I’ll also add Iriarte is basically a NP now, Eder regressed until he was DFA, and Nastrini turned into a disaster. I’m not expecting perfection, but the track record is starting to look a little frightening.

Schultz and Smith have both regressed. Is it time to question the Sox pitching program? McDougal went to an outside pitching lab to fix his issues. I don’t think you can just assume Bannister is a genius.
  10. I suppose this has already been discussed, but does anyone know why we are playing this Will Robertson kid? Are we just required to plug in a player with platoon advantage at every position even if he sucks? I guess the playing time given to Rojas suggests the answer is "yes."
  11. Regarding Vargas, Statcast would indicate he's been getting some horrific batted ball luck during the recent tough stretch. Not that Statcast says he deserves to be running a 1.000 OPS, but quality of contact would make you think you'd hardly call it a slump at all. I still like his swing decisions so I'm not super worried about him yet. Shane was having a lot of good luck in the early going, but to me the biggest thing that has changed is he's not getting much use out of his changeup. The results are worse than before and he's throwing it a lot less. The rest of his arsenal is generally unremarkable so he really needs that pitch. I don't know if the issue is that he's lost the feel for it or he's just foolishly giving up on it for some reason or another.
  12. After Misiorowski got named an All-Star, Houser deserves it if more AL pitchers drop. Legit great signing from Getz.
  13. i’ve been a sports fan for over 55 years and i can honestly say i’ve never seen “so many top prospects” just completely fizzle out like we have seen with the White Sox prospects from 5 years back!!! You would have thought at least one would have become a consistent all star, but no, all became total bust!!
  14. And to think, the brewers don't even have ryan fuller.
  15. Sosa: .272 / .722 Taylor: .221 / .692 Vargas: .219 / .682
  16. Just like Sale. Damn if these fools knew how to run a team, keep players happy, and pay well, they could have a starting rotation/depth of Crochet, Sale, Rodon, ReyLo, Cease, Giolito. I know some of those dudes are hurt or haven't been at the top pf their game this year (Gio's been good lately), but so many damn good arms have come through the south side and we just trade them all away because we suck.
  17. Three years at 100 losses is fairly impressive. Not easy to do.
  18. I love how Lip only shows up to the minor league forum to let us know a prospect is struggling. I don't even have to read the post.
  19. If him suddenly playing well means the Brewers can actually win that division over the Cubs, (which I don't think will happen in both cases), I won't complain about it. He just wasn't getting it done with the Sox.
  20. Yikes. Doesn’t really feel like a Top Ten system anymore…a lot seemingly rides on McDougal and the draft now now, after the Houser and Tauchman trades. Between Vargas Meidroth Quero Teel and Colson…are any of them even close to “for sure” things for the 2028-29 White Sox? Exactly holding that 54-108 pace recently.
  21. Robertson was already with the team. He was getting called up regardless though Elko IL made the for what part easy.
  22. Another game, another shocking display of awful offense. It shouldn’t be this hard to homer. Also, Meidroth continues to plummet towards a sub .600 OPS
  23. It’s funny when Getz thinks he nabbed a steal and calls them up quickly.
  24. So far the Jays made a good move with DFA Robertson.
  25. Been saying that for over a month.
  26. At the midway point, Crochet puts an exclamation point on his half with a CGSO 3 hitter. He's now tied for second most fWAR behind only Skubal, and clearly one of the four horseman that exist today: Wheeler, Skenes, Skubal, Crochet. The clear cut best arms in the game. Meidroth has regressed quite a bit, but Teel has looked solid. The outcome of this trade is going to come down to Montgomery who has been toolsy and successful for level and age but hes regressed a bit. For me, it's still a significant loser given the age and status of Crochet. He is a rare talent that does not come around often.

I did not realize McDougal went to an outside pitching lab. That does not seem great.

Joe Doyle posted his final mock. Subscriber only. https://futurestarsseries.com/mlb-draft-arquette-holliday-angels-arnold-willits-nationals/ 1.) Nationals - Kade Anderson (Notes that a high contingent of high level scouts think Willits will be the pick.) 2.) Angels - Eli Willits 3.) Mariners - Seth Hernandez 4.) Rockies - Ethan Holliday 5.) Cardinals - Ike Irish 6.) Pirates - Aiva Arquette 7.) Marlins - JoJo Parker (Says one of Willits/Parker/Carlson will be the pick here) 8.) Jays - Billy Carlson 9.) Reds - Jamie Arnold (Also would be interested Doyle.)
  29. I have the same love for Josh Rojas that I had for Joe Kelly
  30. Rojas has got to go. Consistently awful

I don’t particular like how they handled Schultz last year.
  32. Schultz about to pitch in Futures Game. Montgomery 0-2 so far batting 2nd. Nevermind, brought in someone else
  33. I like the Sox new city connect jerseys less than the 83s, and I don’t like the 83s. Glad they’re wearing the pinstripes.
  34. Sign him up, I need someone to root for in Charlotte
  35. I think the stat-heads look more at bWAR for pitching because fWAR is more based on expected production than bWAR is. It's amazing they're 9th in bWAR paying 1/10th the salary that some teams behind them are.
  36. Nor do they buy stadiums and always get someone else to pay for it

For me, it's a hope, not a worry, that the rumors are because of assumptions, not real information.
  38. Might not need Chris Getz getting cyber bullied by white sox twitter into trading players anymore

Gonzalez is 2-4 with a double. Seems promising.
  40. Sox should have sent Tanner McDougal to the futures game instead. That guy is on fire. He also has the natural ability to make the jump to the Majors. Add him to your follow list.

Former White Sox player who also played for and managed the Cubs has died at age 87. I remember him in his only year with the Sox which was 1966 but he will be famously remembered for his classic rant against Cub fans in 1983. May he rest in peace.
  42. Guys, it isn’t worth arguing with him. He has been doing the same dumb rope a dope game for 20 years. He lives in the past and has blinders on for the present and future
  43. Some clear measurable changes made prior to that hot stretch. He has a 118 wRC+, and he's on a 3+ WAR pace despite the tough start. The Sox need 3-4 win players desperately, and Vargas is trending in that direction.
  44. The White Sox will always win this trade regardless of what happens simply because they would never have signed him to an extension and he would have walked for nothing after 2026. Having an ace for two 100 loss seasons really means nothing. The options were trade him or take a comp pick. They chose the right option.
  45. I thought the package was basically fair, though it would have been nice to do better on the back end of the deal. But that being said, measuring this trade two weeks into the season based on MLB stats only is absurd. It will be years before we REALLY know what we got back.
