The problem is that “better than a year ago” is “better than the worst team in history” which is just the bar laying on the ground for you to trip over. there is a long long way to go for this team to get competitive. Hell, there is a long long way to go for this team to be merely mediocre5 points

I’m really upset, Jerry Reinsdorf’s White Sox are now 162 games under .500 the last three years. I’ve been a Baseball and Sox fan since 1952 and without a doubt the White Sox since 2022 are the worst team of my lifetime. Reinsdorf has to go down as one of the worst owners in the history of the game, this cretin in his 44 years of ownership has just about destroyed the franchise where it’s the laughingstock of Baseball. I’m amazed that there are any Sox fans left at all and if he isn’t going to spend money this off-season and truly try improve the team then it’s going to be another long year in 2026. What’s more amazing is that this man has no shame at all, in a perfect world, Reinsdorf who is a disgrace to the game would be forced by MLB to sell the franchise but unfortunately that will never happen. The man lied to us after the 2023 season and said he would improve the club. Instead they lost 121 games in 2024. Hate is a horrible word but I’m sorry, I hate this man and what he has done to my team.5 points

But how many of those people got GM roles without doing job interviews? It just shows how superior his vision is. Checkmate.4 points

I am with you, Mighty Mite. I've been a Sox fan for a hell of long time, and I have never seen the franchise in this bad a shape. Every fan knows his team will have bad years, but there is no excuse for this. Yet, JR wants a stadium donated to him. Just leave town, Reinsdorf.4 points

These lefty relievers are hilariously bad. Venable also really sucks at his job.3 points

No matter how you splice it, Getz is terrible at his job and this is an awful baseball team. They've dropped the bar so low that people are "excited" because they actually have a few MLB caliber players. Colson and Teel look like dudes. Smith a nice arm imo. The rest don't belong as full time MLB starters. After that, it's a bunch of having to dream on a guy... or someone that needs to do things they haven't done prior. They should have traded Grant Taylor at deadline with those prices for young controlled relivers or this off season if they're not going to start him. I'd move Cannon to the bullpen. I can't believe people think this team isn't favored to lose 100 games next year without major investment in talent which we all know isn't happening.3 points

Easy grounder back to the mound, 1 away. Solo shot to RF, 6-3... Strikeout swinging, 2 outs. Flyout to shallow right, 3 outs. BARONS WIN!3 points

We need to improve as much as we did from last year to this year, AGAIN, to merely get back to mediocre.3 points

In case you're wondering if Pope Leo has still been keeping up with the Sox...3 points

I count 8 players who played in tonight's game alone who should be nowhere near the 40-man roster come December. And of course there are several more on the 26-man. Just a stunningly thin roster.2 points

So was Curtis Meadiocre a Getz acquisition or will he just throw Josh Barfield under the bus for it again like the Dominic Fletcher acquisition?2 points

How many old bad lefty relievers did our jabroni of a GM trade prospects for?2 points

Getz getz more of the blame. He didn’t give Venable any good lefty reliever options. But yes, Venable is still awful at bullpen management. Honestly, other than being much better with the media, I still don’t see how Venable is much better than Grifol. His lineups and bullpen management are both questionable. He’s about to lose 100+ games. He just doesn’t sound like a complete and utter jackass like Mr. “Just Flush It” when a mic is put in front of his face. Venable hasn’t proven sh!t thus far.2 points

Getz would have been hired to be GM by exactly ZERO other teams, yet he was the best choice (no other person needed to be interviewed obviously) for the Sox. The standards are SO low with this organization!2 points

Oh, sorry, I forgot. Wins and losses don’t matter during a rebuild until suddenly they did for a bit but now they don’t again because they’re still losing.2 points

Shush it hater! That $15M into the Dominican facility and PD are a reallocation of resources. And it's already paying off!2 points

Depends on your angle. I would bet money that he is one of the lowest paid GMs in MLB. Is it more than most people? Sure. Compared to his peers? Hell no.2 points

The thing to remember is Getz has his hands tied as he’s working for one of worst and cheapest owners in Baseball. That being said, when Ishbia takes over there is going to be a complete housecleaning with the GM and Field Manager the first to go.2 points

Don't the Blackhawks sell out every game still? Hockey actually is exciting in person and Chicagoans know that. I assume prices are now outrageous. Wat's parking at a Hawks game now? 50 prolly? Hockey sucks on TV but is a blast in person.2 points

100th loss tonight. It's official: third year in a row with 100+ losses. These incompetent clowns should be ashamed of themselves. South Side, STAND UP!2 points

They kinda proven so far that it can. Some teams are able to create pitching, the Sox are one of them.2 points

I'll be curious to read what those who have been defending him are saying when the Sox have their fourth straight season of 100+ losses in 2026, which will be Getz's third full season in charge.2 points

The fact Getz still will have a job is a big 🖕to fans who have endured multiple 100 loss seasons.1 point

I call ‘em like I see ‘em. Disappointed in 100 losses; and really PO’d at Getz’ lackluster effort at the deadline. Not as pessimistic as most, however.1 point

Our favorite GM just matched Kenny and Hahn’s worst season of their careers with 101 losses in his second season as GM. Congrats, Chris.1 point

Counting on most of the available SPs this year was always a fools errand. Martin, Cannon, Burke, etc are guys who maybe have peak mid rotation years, but are just rotation fillers. This team needs that Taylor/Smith/Schultz group to produce at least 1 star and another good starting pitcher for this to have a chance at getting of the gound in this decade.1 point

I mean kind of. When your team is absolute hot garbage and losing these games anyways I’d rather see a great player have a chance to be great.1 point

I think the Sox have a bunch of guys all around the 55 FV tier, but for my money, Bonemer is currently their Top Prospect.1 point

Montgomery leadoff double off the top of the wall. However makes a stupid play going to 3rd on a routine GB to SS hit by Quero.1 point

Correct on both counts. Sox fans are so tired of seeing our starters pitch well, and then the bullpen just give games away. It's such a drag. I am turning this game off which is unfortunate for someone who loves watching the Sox.1 point

Argument for not bunting solidified. Well good thing not to bet this one so far lol. Long way to go against Yankees' offense though.1 point

But hey, at least they have like the 17th ranked farm system in baseball to hang their hat on and supplement all these studs here today and they hired that biomechanics guy to break noah schultz. Big wins all around.1 point

There was some discussion about Michael A Taylor's wasted money so I figured I'd post this here. https://www.mlb.com/news/jose-siri-designated-for-assignment-by-mets-tyrone-taylor-activated-from-il Mets DFA'd Jose Siri who was supposed to be their answer in CF. He barely played for the Mets but when he did, he racked up -0.5 WAR and batted .063 (.262 OPS). He's paid $700k more than MAT and the worst part is they gave up an asset for him, Eric Orze, who's pitched 41.2 innings for the Rays to a 3.02 ERA. Imagine if the Mets had Orze and Vasil out of the bullpen this season, 2 players they jettisoned for nothing. They genuinely would've been better off signing Taylor. I also might take a flyer on Siri. He has had some success and historically plays some good CF defense at the very least. Though he is a kind of a douche, got benched twice in TBR, show boats, and worst of all said the little girl who accused Wander 'pedo' Franco of child abuse was "only looking for money". Maybe f*** the guy actually.1 point

He's a pest at the plate, a menace on the basepaths, and a joy in the clubhouse. All contact/speed/defense but no slug and a small stature that doesn't project to develop future power (though he says he's working on it!). It's hard to expect his game to translate to higher levels, but also impossible not to root for him.1 point

Since some folks were ready to start speculating on how next season will be better it should be noted this team has lost 10 of 11.1 point
