He does seem like a fun guy ☺️ Some notes from (various translations of) his media session: He's getting along well and having fun with teammates and staff despite being nervous at first. He says everyone has been really nice. Answered "every day" when asked what has been the most fun so far Says the added attention doesn't bother him since he experienced it in Japan too. He wants to keep improving his English, and has to improvise with gestures at times. Has taught teammates some Japanese phrases. He talks with Imanaga, Suzuki, Yoshida, and Ohtani regularly. Ohtani has been encouraging. They haven't decided yet exactly how many ST games/innings he'll play before leaving for the WBC. Looking forward to facing Skenes and Skubal in the WBC since they are reigning Cy winners. Still working on getting more comfortable at 1B, is committed to improving as a defender. The swing change has been in progress since November, and is aimed at adjusting to higher velo in MLB. His goal is to be a big home run hitter here as well. Yes, he got asked about bidets (from both US and Japanese media) and he wasn't shy at all in answering. Has told teammates about the many benefits, including being better for the environment by using less TP Likes to go before a game, and likes to feel clean when he plays At one point he was talking so positively about bidets that a press member joked it sounded like promotion. Mune suggested a bidet sponsorship and when he got laughter in response clarified that he'd be seriously open to it.3 points

I cannot believe the shamelessness of some people in this thread that are telling on themselves. Bidets are literally life changing and save you money on TP. Imagining you nasty motherfuckers with skid marks in 2026 is fucking wild. No amount of wiping will clean you fully. I atleast hope you use wet wipes... that is the bare minimum... /rant2 points

100 more runs, 25 more homeruns, 20 more saves, starting pitching about the same as last year would probably get the Sox to 78 wins . Can't have a bunch of career years. Need to save some for Schultz, Hagen Smith, Braden Montgomery, Bonemer, Antonacci, McDougal, Oppor, Billy Carlson and 1:1 pick years and any others who pop up. The only one I really hope does great is Murakami since I doubt Ishbia wont arrive in time to white knight him an extension. Might get 2M attendence and more sponsors for CHSN. That might be the only way JR opens the wallet a bit and even then I have no idea how much because of the looming labor snafu. You can't really talk much about the future with a 90 year old. If Pope Power works no telling what Jerry's kids do. No matter what, they need to sell to Ishbia. Edit: Meant to quote @Chick Mercedes re:the everyone having career years .2 points

We've leveled up from HR/swing counts to clocking Mune's 115mph exit velos in BP 👀1 point

Shingo Takatsu sighting! Reportedly told Mune how great Chicago is before he signed, and also went to dinner with him last night1 point

You don't need a new account with a VPN, you could just renew with your current subscription. Before you want to use MLB.TV, you would just need to turn the VPN on to another location (I use NordVPN and have a few random US cities saved to bounce between depending on what I'm trying to watch) and once you're connected to that open the MLB app/MLB.TV.1 point

The blackout BS is so stupid. I live in eastern NC. They consider the Nats and Orioles my local teams that are 5 hours away. Our cable provider does not even offer MASN that carries their games so there is literally no way for me to watch them. So I miss about 10 sox games per year on mlb TV. One thing you can do to get a cheaper price on mlbtv is to join the mlb retired players association for like $20 per year. They give you a 50% off code for mlbtv. And you support a good organization. Done it for 2 years and need to do it again1 point

I like Roch, I dont want that to be taken the wrong way. I'd take him first as of today too! I just think it's possible he could be supplanted or matched as a prospect over the next few months, and he's not a generational talent. I also do have serious qualms about him playing in the Big10 and the meaning of that production. Burress, Garcia, LeBron, and Emerson are all really interesting prospects - I think if Strosnider has one of the better seasons in college this year, he might be my pick! He's got more tools than Roch. I think it'll be hard for a HS player to make a jump in a way where he's the clear best player given the quality of college talent this draft but who knows?? https://x.com/MLBPipeline/status/2022434094454575116?s=201 point

I know you don’t like that people are already penciling him in as the #1 pick, but where do you stand on Roch as a player? Is there someone else you prefer at this point, like Emerson or LeBron?1 point

His swing looks good in live BP so far. If he can have even a reasonable contact rate, he’s gonna put a hurt on a lot of baseballs.1 point

Motor skills and consciousness probably cut off around 89 wins.1 point

I’m going to predict 78 wins while I have a few beers in me. Why not. Done being down on team. Everyone is having a career year like the Mercedes era, but Tony’s not around to traumatize anyone1 point

Now that I’m here. It’s time to unburden my soul. It always bothered me. For your sakes… I pretty much know most of you don’t put paper down on the seat. Bidet only does half the job of a clean rear end I assume. So you proud bidet people only cleaning your innards, and soiling your outermost bits are suffering from a great delusion.1 point

That's clearly a low-end bidet. Actually looks like the model I have in my RV. Doesn't even plug in, so the seat is cold, and the water is colder.1 point

A thread about bidets and no @caulfield12 for his expertise. What a wild era of Soxtalk.1 point

I'm sure it's a proper Toto with all four and maybe music and/or white noise. One of the best things about traveling to Japan is that it makes you realize that every toilet you've ever sat on has been garbage, and opens your eyes to a world of toilet functionality you never knew was possible. One of the worst things about traveling to Japan is getting on a plane and coming home, condemned to wander a world of sub-par toilets with full knowledge of what can be. (Luckily you can buy Japanese style toilets for your house now.)1 point

Who says I’m annoyed? I’m indifferent to the bidet. I used one when I went to Japan. Interesting novelty but seemingly pointless. Your butt doesn’t need water to make it clean. If you get s%*# on your arm or face, it’s a different matter. You’d use soap too. No one’s soaping up their butthole I suspect. I’d echo that other guy’s point that if your asshole is a fuckin mess after the fact, a change in diet will be more beneficial than a stream of water.0 points
-
If you actually have a good diet, get enough fiber and dont eat mounds of sugar and grease there is no need for a bidet.0 points
