  1. Full Stop Here: Jason Benetti left the White Sox because they wanted him to leave. Brooks Boyer pushed him to go find another job. If there is anything I hate, it is revisionist history.
  2. Stone tells everyone how great the food is, yet there is about 2 menu items he would eat. If the team didn't like how Jason ate, why didn't they stop the promo? The downgrade to Schriff is like firing Terry Francona and replacing him with Pedro Grifol.
  3. Not quite. He hasn't gotten hurt yet.
  4. 3 points
I think a "train" to describe the people who had confidence in Gonzalez would look something like one of those one man manual pump carts used in the old days on a railroad line.
  5. The whole Eating on the Air thing is absurd. No announcer eats on the air of their own. They get told by their bosses (looking at you Brooks Boyer) to do promos for stuff in the park and make it look amazing for what it costs. Blaming Jason for it is ridiculous.
  6. On the replay of the Murakami homer, it was just a long pop up
  7. People need to get over the Giolito stuff. There were a lot more reasons not to go after him IMO than reasons to get him.
  8. It's going to be awesome if Roch lives up to the hype and dominates in Chicago. Get those northwest side Poles on the Sox bandwagon.
  9. Is dancing for dubs going to make a comeback this year?
  10. Look at how Harry Caray helped turn the Cubs from the slightly more popular team in Chicago into a totally dominant juggernaut in this market within a few years. Having a good PBP guy vs. a bad or forgettable one DOES matter. To the Sox credit, they later had Hawk Harrelson as a very effective and extremely memorable voice of the Sox who definitely helped connect fans to the team. Jason Benetti isn't in the same league as Harry and Hawk as far as larger-than-life personality goes, but he was shaping up to be a very solid (and hometown) voice of the Sox for decades to come. But, you know, look at how he eats! And some curmudgeonly Sox fans hated Sox Math!!! Good riddance and bring on someone who doesn't know the nuances of baseball and can't pronounce Bill Veeck's last name to be our next PBP! Loyalty over competence - it's a recurring theme with this organization. It's very easy to see why the Sox are an afterthought in Chicago and #30, well below #29, in the league in revenue. But hey, at least a small segment of the Sox fan base is happy.
  11. I just don't see much evidence we've reached a "fun bad" stage. When you have 3/5 of the rotation held down by scrubs and 4/9 in the daily lineup same I'm not sure you can call that fun bad, that's just bad.
  12. I feel terrible for Murray. That is tough for that young man. I wish him the best. I guess one silver lining is it wasn't Antonacci or a top prospect.
  13. A good broadcaster enhances the viewing or listening experience and helps connect fans to the team. A poor, bad, mediocre one does more damage in these areas than you might think.
  14. They are all going to be sitting. There is no way they play tonight.
  15. Are you suggesting you forgive Bennetti for having to follow a HoF'er? Because he did, Jason followed Hawk...and Scriffin is following a future HoF'er...Bennetti will be in the HoF! Bennetti is AWESOME!
  16. As a Sox fan though, I am glad Bennetti is gone. The toy shelf, Sox math, eating sloppily during broadcasts...I don't know if he pulls any of that sh1t on NBC. Some fans do not like Schriffin which I understand. However, it appears that he has been trying to correct mistakes and make changes as he learns on the go. Look, he has a tough job following the Hawk, a hall of fame announcer. That and always having to demur to Steve Stone - an odd match in the booth. Look, if we win games, who gives a sh1t.
  17. Can I interest you in more bunting and utility players instead?
  18. Acuna has been the second worst defensive CF'er in baseball so far. This idea that he just has taken a few bad routes is nonsense. He's been dreadful with his arm and his routes, and I was very high on him defensively. I was simply wrong and he's no where near a viable defensive CF'er.
  19. "What does that mean to the Guardians, who take raw talent and guide him to the big leagues, through a plan that sees him navigate position changes (second base, shortstop and third,) to become a family man and hometown hero in Cleveland? It means they have one of those “good, solid young men” DiBiasio speaks of. A family man, A man of character. The kind of man who can lead the Guardians to greatness through perseverance, hard work and loyalty." “Your highest paid player better be your best person,” said DiBiasio. The Villager Newspaper OnlineCleveland Guardians Share Secrets to Success - The Villag...The Cleveland Guardians are one of Major League Baseball’s most successful franchises. Year after year they finish close to the top, making the playoffs and giving fans plenty of thrills. Competing inWhen's the last time this last sentence was close to being true for the Sox??? Grandal Benintendi Robert (didn't remember Charlie Montoyo's name or who he even was), TA, Jimenez, Moncada, Lynn, Keuchel... Kimbrel and Giolito were probably the closest to that description over the last decade. There weren't many. Burger, too. The White Sox are usually loyal to a fault, but for all the wrong reasons. Not lining up with the values listed here for being deserving of two way loyalty/trust. Whether it's Mune, Colson, Teel...pick your foundational piece to build around that will be a White Sox for life and give them that first $100-200 million deal. Maybe it's Cholowsky? Or even Braden or Bonemer. But you need to pick someone or the ship will continue to founder on the rocks. The face of the franchise. There hasn't really been once since TA and Abreu. They forced it on Andrew Vaughn and it simply didn't fit.
  20. Yeah, but have you seen the way he eats?
  21. It would be great if the Sox organization would take a serious look at why teams like the Guardians have been so successful over the last 3 decades at developing top-level talent over and over again while the White Sox have certainly not. Unfortunately, I suspect the powers that be at the White Sox have the same mindset as some Sox fans and just say "2005>1948". If that's really the case, it's no wonder this organization is a total clown show that has taken their advantage of being in the #3 market and turned this team into the one that is #30 in revenue.
  22. One of the biggest scouting whiffs I've ever seen. Given his comments on him switch hitting is it possible he really had no idea who he aquired? baseballsavant.comLuisangel Acuña Stats: Statcast, Visuals & Advanced Metrics(2026) Avg Exit Velocity: 88.1, Hard Hit %: 37.3, wOBA: .210, xwOBA: .269, Barrel %: 3.4.5th percentile in range with 98th percentile speed is crazy.
  23. Awful AnnouncingJason Benetti hailed for 'redefining' broadcastingBrodcasters includingJoe Buck and Ian Eagle praise Jason Benetti after Benetti's ascension to the lead broadcast role for MLB on NBC.
  24. só is being a White Sox fan in general in terms of opportunity cost for time/$$$ invested…where’s the payoff?
  25. It's a great show. After Sorkin left with the conclusion of Season 4, the show goes down in quality in Season 5 and 6, but the race between Santos and Vinick in Season 7 is a nice change of pace and ends the series well. I've re-watched it all the way through probably 4 or 5 times, all timer for me as well.
  26. Even as a kid I noticed that his standards seemed to vary based on skin color. He was constantly on Chet Lemon for being a "hot dog" and Lemon was a damn good CF. May be related to the time period he played for Boston.
  27. If he plays well, Quero might be the guy optioned when Teel comes back. Whenever the f*** that is
  28. Looks like Robert is back to normal.
  29. The Mune signing was about a close to universally loved as anything on Soxtalk.
  30. WAR really should include the sexiness factor, agreed
  31. Well we're even lol. Except I haven't invested hundreds of hours of fighting a one man war like (Don't) Quixote for a return to glory on the northern side of 35th Street. Ishbia will die before that happens. He's not a billionaire hedge funder due to making rash ill-advised investments. And are you War Machine or something? Will you finally wave the White Flag when the first pylon penetrates the earth at the 78?
  32. Wait, weren’t Tauchman and Slater considered good acquisitions by Getz just one year ago?
  33. You make no sense whatsoever. It's argument for argument's sake, at best.
  34. I do believe the part about the Sox not being Roch's preference.
  35. Embrace the Basement isn't much better... And no more cracks about SD? You won't find any Padres fans exchanging 2019-2026 places with the White Sox...despite no WS. Reminiscing over 2005 won't help the Ishbias to develop a new generation Sox fans...unfortunately.
  36. Those "3rd best record in the last 12 years" banners hang forever.
  37. But also third best record in MLB over the last 12 years. White Sox are 29th or 30th. By that standard, being Marlins' or White Sox franchise fans since the 1990's would be much more rewarding??? Certainly the much more efficient allocation of resources. At least we're not the Mariners Padres or Brewers then???
  38. You mean the guy who ran around the bases backwards for his 100th career HR ? Piersall sounded like a few guys here always talking about he was critical because he had higher standards. He didnt like 1 handed catches of fly balls. He was fired for being too critical of players by the Sox in the booth and for the same reason coaching the Cubs. His higher standards included being ejected from a game in 1960 for running around in the OF waving his arms trying to distract Ted Williams. And that was Williams last season as a player.
  39. Piersall would have lost his mind watching Acuna play center.
  40. Trade didnt suck.Robert hasnt been 2023 Robert in a long time & it's likely that was his outlier season. Hasnt been worth $20M for over 2 years. When this year is over he'll make money appropriate to his stats, not as much on potential.
  41. He's a bit depressed since he got whacked the bad way.
  42. 1 point
  43. Yeah, because they are older. Vlad Jr. got paid so much due to youth and potential, but yeah, will likely bottom out on that massive deal. You are comparing a 26/27 year old to Schwarber who signed an extension in December at age 32 and Alonso who signed with Baltimore at age 31.
  44. Acuna making an error with Getz in the booth is the White Sox moment of the year
  45. Humble? No way. Soxmath........Condescending+arrogant= Benetti
