  1. Makes sense to sit Teel with a day game tomorrow
  2. Not sure if posted, but going from 13k in 2025 on same day to 29k tonight is awesome
  3. Thanks for listening boys
  4. I think I'm supposed to do this again? I originally wasn't going to be able to catch this game as I was going to see the Tides/Bulls with my financial advisor where I was going to have to break the news that I dropped a few bands on the White Sox winning the division a few weeks ago. It has been rained out though so I can continue to monitor firsthand how brilliant/idiotic my bet was. Lineup below. Teel sits against the lefty. Need Burke to go deep in this one.
  5. Hell of a start by the Cleveland starter. Best line is the BIG FAT FUCKING L NEXT TO IT. SUCK IT GEEKS.
  6. Vargas due for a bomb.
  7. Brooke is an angel, and I’ll be damned if I sit here while you besmirch my future wife like that.
  8. Top prospects can be a loose term here. They can trade out of their top 25 and have their top 5 or so off limits. They could easily add a veteran starting pitcher that isn't committed beyond 2026 and not give up much.
  9. Depends on what you mean by "moneymaker". Not as much year to year profit, but this franchise cost $20 million in 1980. Today it is being sold for $1.8 billion. If JR hadn't run this like a rundown laundry mat, this could have had a valuation of something like double what is is worth currently.
  10. What a huge win that was, prevented the first 4 game losing streak of the season I believe.

Did anyone watch the postgame show. Ozzie and Chuck, yes Chuck too, were, as much as they could be, really complaining about Venable and his game choices. 1st of all they gave these stats (this is from memory, but pretty sure these are relatively correct): Grant Taylor has an ERA of 1.07 when he pitches in the 9th closing. But an ERA of 3.90 when he’s not closing. Now this is really nuts: Dominguez when he’s not pitching in the 9th has an ERA of 0.77. But when he closes in the 9th, his ERA is 6.06 with 6 blown saves. (Again from memory) Ozzie was angry! He never said Venable he said “they” but he clearly meant Venable and his staff. “They can see these stats the same as us. What are they doing?” He said it twice: They can see these stats the same as us. Why? You know, Ozzie is 100% correct. Looking at those stats, it’s so obvious what Venable should and should NOT be doing. Then Chuck Garfien, nicer than Ozzie and using “they” again questioned pinch hitting Gonzalez right before Antonacci. (Not sure how he said it but sorta this): Gonzalez was 0 for his last 25. Why would you put a young player who is 0 for his last 25 in that position with the game on the line? Really, what was Venable doing batting Gonzalez there? He was clearly overmatched. I think that choice was worse than his bullpen decisions. 0 for his last 25 and you throw him in there against an outstanding closer. Really, if you look at those stats, there’s some pretty obvious first steps to fixing our bullpen problems.
  12. Sox and Braves still the only remaining teams who haven't had a 4+ loss streak this season
  13. Many here had this team losing 100 games again this year. Most of the sports listicle media had the Sox ranked 29th or 30th coming into the season. People couldn't resist pointing out that we were looking at a historically bad OF. I would say that Venable has this team playing above their heads. I think they're really a glorified .500 team who may will themselves into the playoffs. The team just came off of an insanely good run against the best teams in the game. There's a bit of letdown. They're missing a huge presence in the lineup in Mune. Pitching depth evaporated in the last year. He's running with a 3 man bullpen, and a 2-1/2 man rotation. Venable makes mistakes. I'm starting to come around to flipping Dominguez and Taylor. Pinch-hitting Gonzo today was weird. But mentioning Venable in the same breath as Grifol is outrageous.
  14. NEWCOMBE THE MAN nice job by Burke too. Bats need to get going but we'll worry about that tmr!
  15. Walked home to see my son had the game on…started cooking the tacos and guacamole and was making the spicy margarita just in time for Miggys homer!
  16. Your first place Chicago White Sox have matched 2024's win total in June. Their win% at home (68.4%) is T-1 in MLB. Their win% in the division (63.6%) leads the ALC. Burke has been great in these last two starts. He set a career high for whiffs in any two game stretch.
  17. Burke understood the assignment. So did Newcomb. Finish it tomorrow.
  18. Huge to get this win using only 2 pitchers after the bullpen has been taxed the past 2 days.
  19. This broadcast is a mess. I'm muting this s%*#.
  20. Are we watching the same game?
  21. Kenny loftin had a career 372 OBP John, and he had multiple years over 400. That's why he led off.
  22. I think the difference is that we have watched Jerry run the Sox as a for profit entity, keeping costs as low as possible, and it still 90 X'd over those 46 years. If he had done it right, this franchise is probably double that value, which far outpaces the SP500. I think people are ready for the latter, because this sure didn't work.

I mean, you know you have issues when fucking Schriffdawg of all people was scared about Dominguez closing last night lol
  24. Meidroth's a pro-level 2B. We're kind of beyond the period of trading everyone with value. He's your 2B until a superior option displaces him.
  25. It was also of note that even the CSN post game show did a whole breakdown on how Taylor was way better in save situations, and Anthony was way better in non-save situations. Was kind of surprised to see the questioning of the management on their own network, but it was good information.
  26. The nice thing is the Sox have built a good up the middle group with Teel catching, Colson at SS, Meidroth at 2B and Peters in CF. Now if we only had a decent bullpen.
  27. IDK, I think it would be a lot of dead time for these guys if they sat around until the offseason before being drafted. Getting it done shortly after the College World Series makes sense to me. From there, teams can decide how to use the remaining couple months of the professional season...sometimes the guys seem to just hang out at extended spring, sometimes they head out to affiliates depending on readiness.

Read it for the quotes, the analysis is basically "well, what can you do" and frankly Jim might not be wrong about that. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s%*#. We have 3 fairly reliable guys and then a bunch of wild cards. I think for now we just have to hope some guys get healthy down in the minors and then we get a addition in mid summer before the deadline via trade.

Sox Machine with a deep dive into this situation: Will Venable's late-game bullpen decisions were already c...A few minutes after getting Seranthony Domínguez off the hook by making the White Sox walk-off winners on Monday night, Sam Antonacci tried to do it again. “We signed up to play a team sport and that’

  31. I try to remind myself that he barely has any innings under his arm and is kind of learning on the fly.
  32. Changed my mind completely. Which college pitcher is the most likely to pull a Crochet and be a new closer ASAP? Seranthony has scarred me.
  33. Ozzie opened last night’s CHSN post-game show with two things I totally agree with. His first comment was he felt like they lost that game and second was that Will should swap Taylor and Dominguez ... at least for the time being. The numbers/stats are there. Right now each is better in the other’s bullpen role.
  34. I actually think this is a good bullpen but the amount of stress they've been put under this year already is unsustainable. Thankfully bullpen arms are the one commodity at the deadline that usually aren't too hard to find
  35. You make some good points especially about the comparison with Grifol. The thing is that no one knew that the Sox would be contenders so the inexperience of Venable is hurting, he is basically an OJT manager which would be fine if the Sox were a 70+ win team which most of us all thought they would be this year but right now we are contenders so when Venable makes a bad move it is magnified. Getz gave him a lousy bullpen so there’s that. My feeling since day one that the hire of an inexperienced manager was a bad move with a team made up of with a lot of kids, I thought a hire of a veteran would have been better.
  36. I don't want Chapman primarily for clubhouse reasons, but he also threw the quickest yes hitter I think I've ever seen tonight. Came in with a 2-0 lead vs. the Rockies, gave up 4 straight hits (3 singles and a triple) for 3 ER to lose the game on 8 pitches without recording an out. Some BABIP luck for the Rockies after they ran themselves out of the previous inning where they also got 4 straight hits.
  37. Attended the game tonight. Still cant access this site unless im home so I was eager to read this bipolar and manic gamethread.....it did not disappoint. Props to Murphy for holding them to just one in that situation.

  43. As soon as we get a lineup with about 6 MLB-quality hitters, we want to trade one
