The Sox have 35 games remaining. Currently, the division race looks like this: Twins 3.5 back. 34 games remaining, 6 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 4-3. Guardians 4.5 back. 34 games remaining, 3 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 6-4. Tigers 5 back, 35 games remaining, 4 vs. Sox. Sox lead season series 6-3. Let's suppose the Sox finish 18-17 and are able to clinch the head-to-head season series vs. all 3 of these division opponents. The Sox final record would be 84-78. Since they would control all tiebreakers, the other teams would have to get to 85-77 to win the division. That would require those teams to finish with the following record in their remaining games: Twins 22-12 Guardians 23-11 Tigers 24-11 The Sox are in the driver's seat but not in the clear yet. They basically have to play .500 ball and not collapse vs. one of the division teams head-to-head and they will almost certainly win the division. Having said that, I think it's really important for the Sox to find their stride over the next 5 weeks and start playing their best ball heading into October. Go out and take this division and build momentum for the postseason. I'm fired up for what's ahead.

Honestly? A few of you need to read up on property law and how much influence the railroads had on things like immement domain and the legal authority has to seize private property and call it "improvement" so it's perfectly legal. It's been codified by the Supreme Court in recent decades too. If a railroad wants to do something it is legally near impossible to stop.

I do think there’s a fine line to walk in which this move, though puzzling, could still serve to positively develop Bridgeport in some ways. h. jones raised some good points regarding concessions: Things like that would be great for the neighborhood, and would definitely help to make lemonade out of Amtrak’s lemons. However, unless prodded by relevant politicians, I’m not sure of Amtrak will do that out of the kindness of their hearts. I’m pulling for Bridgeport. After all, we wouldn’t be the “South Siders” without our south side neighborhoods.

So I have really enjoyed Plesac on the calls, and I think he compliments Schriffen's style better than Stone does. But there's also a part of me that fears Plesac's schtick will get old once he's been here a while and we've heard all of his stories.

Neighborhood residents should do everything they can to stop Ishbia from destroying their neighborhood, like local residents have done to stop the building of AI power centers and ICE detention centers. The appearance of a 4 story train warehouse right on 35th street? You git to be kidding me. Noise , rumbling and pollution from diesel engines? Vermin from stagnant rail cars? The destruction of the Armor Fieldhouse and Rate Field with nothing even proposed to replace them? Fine urban planning from the man from Detroit who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. I mean, fvk him. But Ishbia is Chicago's Trump, a guy who seeks to do whatever he, in his sole discretion wants to do. You want ballroom and big Arch? You get ballroom and big Arch. From his overblown mansion in Winnetka, Ishbia has nothing in common with the White Sox fan base or middle class people from the South side of Chicago or Southwest suburbs. He is more powerful than a speeding locomotive, faster than a speeding bullet. Need Kryptonite to stop this greedy billionaire from taking the South side permanently out of the White Sox.

Particularly with railroads (who control their right of way and very flexible rights to build upon their property), it's a far wiser strategy for residents/neighbors to coalesce around a list of requested enhancements to a project (i.e., please build this sound-buffering wall; we'd like a pedestrian/bicycle overpass/walkway; can you add more greenery to the borders for aesthetics; please donate $x to the community park in the neighborhood, etc.) than to think for a moment that opposing it will do anything at all. Also, it's changing from a freight yard to a larger passenger service facility building/yard - far less pollution, far less danger of hazardous materials handling; if I lived in the area, I would view that as a huge positive change.

We already know being a lifetime Sox fan means nothing if you like food while on air.

If I was a Bridgeport resident I would be angry too. Losing the White Sox will be sad and a negative for the neighborhood. That said, moving is the better overall choice for the long term health of the club.

Balls. Also, I find the “he doesn’t have a position here” lazy. If he keeps blowing up, he’s no longer here to use as a bigger trade chip for a starter with control at some point (this offseason, next year, next offseason, etc)

I hope he's replaced. He's gotten better, but he has some way too cringe-worthy moments for my liking. The "Yeah buddy" and "I See You" s%*# is too much and forced. I wish they'd get Plesac in there full-time.
