  1. Today could swing the standings in a significant way. Cleveland plays a double header with Detroit while the Sox have the Twins. Looking at the pitching match ups for this weekend gave me pause. Matthews has pitched very well his last three starts. Also don't like the Saturday one either. This weekend isn't going to be easy especially given the issues on offense the last six games. Fingers crossed they can figure things out. Next nine games against mediocre teams are going to be important with that series in Cleveland just around the bend.
  2. Braden really needs to improve in RF.
  3. Just a matter of time before Tigers completely choke away this game. Gonna have to take care of our own business at some point if we want to win the division. Might as well start tonight.
  4. Magic Wand Night and board favorite Friday Night All Access Fedde vs. Matthews Let's use our collective power to awaken Mune out of his slump.
  5. Just admit that I was right and you were wrong 🙂 No reason to dig in further.
  6. Colson, Mune and Vargas all hit their 30th tonight.
  7. Back to 7 over .500 . Would be nice to sweep the Twins. Every mini win streak goes a long way to winning the division. Keep chipping away that magic number. Bombs away as Colson and Vargas both hit # 30. Braden got the double dutch Montgomery's HR threat going with his 6th.
  8. Good bounceback. Can't let a team like the Twins mess with us.
  9. He plays like someone who has never played out there before
  10. Braden just needs to make these plays
  11. I'm pretty sure Vasil just does a magic wand wave on every pitch.
  12. It gets to a point where you just bench him
  13. Those are the kinds of plays you attempt against a dead Twins team, not against the Red Sox in the postseason...just eat the ball
  14. Nah, you aren’t gaslighting your way out of this. One person has been here projecting all of his s%*# on to Ishbia with zero evidence of any of it being accurate. In fact, it keeps getting proven false and made up fantasy. They are 100% due all the strays they catch, and it isn't you.
  15. 3 points
WS clinches a playoff spot behind Umberger's strong start, a 3 IP save from Jake Curtis, and multi-hit games from Wolkow, Mogo, McLain, and Jeral Perez
  16. If BNSF sells to Ishbia, I wonder what the chances of getting a metra stop there would be. Feels like a no brainer. It would be fantastic to have a metra stop right next to the stadium. The existing Halsted St BNSF stop would be about a 15-20 minute walk from the stadium, which isn't awful. A dedicated stop would be perfect though.
  17. Awesome outing for Hagen
  18. Fedde kinda looks like Chad Powers
  19. My guess is that most people who wanted Mune moved down in the lineup did not mean from 2 to 3.
  20. Pretty rough tbh, but still all there. Made a joke how it was 85th birthday but the odometer really reads 110.
  21. I’m not saying no we cannot do this any longer I demand a roof. I’m saying that if it were me designing this field in some crazy scenario where I had some say in the matter(disclaimer: I don’t) I would like to have a retractable roof. if I were to have a say in this matter ( I don’t) I would also try to make sure that retractable roof allowed for views so certain parties could marvel at the views.
  22. Not sure they look that much different to me outside of the hot streak vs. COL/LAA. 5 shutouts in their last 20 games, feels like this place would burn down if the Sox were going scoreless 25% of the time.
  23. Kyle Teel...starting tonight
  24. Tigers sweep the DH and Sox win tonight I can feel it in my bones.
  25. Cold (without rain) is fine as long as you are properly dressed. It's the insane heat that gets you. I went to a game at Globe Life Park years ago in the middle of July and I could barely make it through the game. (Granted I was probably dehydrated from all the beer) Domes are fine for AZ/Tex but I don't see the point for us unless they are able to somehow make it feel like a full open air stadium when open like 77 said.
  26. Going to quote just this part for emphasis, but the making s%*# up to be mad about is at insane levels in this thread.
  27. This was discussed a while back, but a retractable roof could work IF it was a design that really opened up and felt open air when retracted. If we're talking about something that looks like the ballparks in Arizona and Texas - forget it. To play in something that looks like a warehouse during the 80% of games with good weather isn't worth it for the 20% of bad weather days and we'd end up with the same old conundrum of people complaining that the Sox stadium lacks charm. Houston's opens up to the skyline better, but they almost never open the roof even during early-season 75 degree days for some reason. In Chicago, the goal would be to provide cover when it rains and at least some relief from the cold during those early season 40 degree days (even if it's not a perfect 72 degrees inside). Perhaps today's stadium architects using cutting-edge design and materials could make that happen in a way that really makes the place look totally open air on beautiful spring/summer days. Of course, any retractable roof would add significantly to the cost of a stadium to the tune of hundreds of millions. Let's not all pretend that atmosphere, character, and even backdrop do not matter in the post-Camden era. During that time, the only ballpark built with a roof in a northern climate was Milwaukee. Seattle's roof is just to block the rain and the park isn't climate controlled and it really opens nicely. Would PNC Park and Oracle Park be top-rated if they looked like warehouses that only opened up to the sky directly above and blocked any exterior views except for some side panels? I doubt it. But the idea that Ishbia is the one that keeps pushing and pushing for an open air stadium and refusing to consider a roof when he has, in fact, said nothing at all about stadium design is just more of the same tired-old deranged rambling.
  28. Nah we are talking avoiding every rain out and also accommodating the possibility of the World Series being played in the park, and also availing the stadium for events like concerts. It’s not about being tough, it’s just common sense
  29. I mean I get the extremes, but also, we are talking about needing a dome for something that happened once in the life of this stadium, and three times in the life of the former one for the weather to be affecting the World Series. There are going to be waaaaaaaaaay more good days and views lost, versus games helped. I would even get the argument if we lived in a more extreme place, but for what you give up, it's not a net gain IMO. I have sat through PLENTY of those horrible weather games in my life, and still wouldn't trade off.
  30. Grow a sack, wizard. My son just full thickness tore his ACL for the second time at age 18 and asked his head coach to play through it for the season, just as he asked Coach Q in his junior year at Brother Rice to play through his first full ACL tear. He was politely declined for the second time. He is currently aimlessly walking around the St. Norbert College campus in frustration. Sucks but it is what it is. There’s always next year. The doctor asked him how he was even walking around without severe pain… Because he the toughest m*ther f*cker I know. And no, as opposed to the norm, I am not tougher than my son… I hate this photo but at the same time it is the most honest depiction of the most utter frustration of all time after receiving his MRI results. f*** everything. I have shared many pics of my son and his journey through football at every level. I’m sure he would love any feedback or advice from everyone on this site through his tough journey back. Sorry in advance for posting this in the wrong forum, but, yeah…
  31. maybe this organization has a false sense of fixing pitchers
  32. Nah man, October sub 50 Temps and rain sucks. A World Series game shouldn’t be affected by weather. A retractable dome would be amazing but I doubt they want to spend that dough. I have no doubt you will get your wish and it will be no dome at all
  33. I completely agree. PNC Park is always up there as one of the best parks in the league. The views are immaculate from home plate. It's so damn cool looking. They have to deal with s%*# weather there as well. This stadium has the chance to be up there with PNC. Having a retractable dome with really diminish the aesthetics and views. Give me a gorgeous stadium with killer skyline views over a retractable dome.
  34. I'll also note that, based on some of the posts I've read since the South Loop ballpark was first proposed, White Sox fans apparently will only go to games in large numbers if: the team makes the playoffs multiple years in a row the temperature is above 50 degrees the temperature is lower than 90 degrees it's not too humid there isn't a threat of rain they do not have to use a parking garage they do not have to drive more than a couple of blocks off the expressway to get to the parking lot they do not have to use public transportation Geez, we must have one of the most fickle fan bases in the league.
  35. You think Ray Ray will be there tonight?
  36. I'm shocked that Arizona is at 0 given they used Paul Sewald as closer for half the season. Same goes for the Cubs really...their bullpen sucks.
  37. It isn't about the suffering, it is about what is being given up, at least for me.
  38. I agree the open-air ball parks are the best. But if we had the terrible summers of Az, Texas, and Florida sign me up for a dome.
  39. Man this is Chicago, not Anchorage. Sure there are some crappy days, but not enough to require a dome. That's just weak sauce. Don't get me wrong, there are nice domes, but open air stadiums are just superior. Man up and act like Chicagoans.
  40. I do agree with you here. How is a retractable dome not even in the discussions? How many of our early season games are too damn cold, get rained out, etc.? Hell, the 2009 home opener was even snowed out... ABC7 ChicagoWhite Sox postpone Monday's game | ABC7 Chicago | abc7chi...
