The problem wasn't the decision, it's that he hesitated and made it an easy play at the plate. If he is going to go on contact, he has to be all in. Once he hesitated and drew the SS's attention, he needed to go back. He could have even deked to try to draw a throw and gone back, but he can't be out there in no mans land on a play like that.

This is a great question that has kind of been forgotten in this season. We all know he had a pretty serious injury history beforelast year and he stayed pretty injury free in 25. We were also told that there was a mechanical change made before the season that was made in his wind up which might have taken away from his deception. He definitely lost the ability to throw strikes and get ahead this year. Is that fixable? Was last year a fluke? Was this year the fluke? Who knows.

Because of their nature, these are all handshake deals. The biggest thing that suffers if you break it is your reputation, through it has started to happen more often than it used to. IMO, there will be an international draft before this deal actually happens.

I am guessing that Ishbia self finances and makes the stadium a team asset to drive valuation.

Again, the easiest thing would be just to stand pat on both accounts. He didn't stand pat with the Bulls. He also isn't standing pat with the Sox. He's taking on risk both on the west side of Chicago, and massive risk in the south Loop. The most simple thing to do would be the status quo in Bridgeport. He didn't do that, even before the sale announcement with looking for a new park in the 78. The next easiest thing to do would be to build new on site in Bridgeport. He didn't do that in the 78 pitch, nor does he appear to be doing that with the crazy complex transaction about to happen around the south loop. That is NOT the most simple explanation.

Even Jerry trying to get a stadium at the 78 is a lot more than just trying build in the Old Comiskey parking lot. THAT is lack of ambition. With everything happening around the UC, and absolutely nothing at Sox Park, there has to be more than selective laziness.

Will be interested to see how he responds to the type of raw and upper stuff type of pitching he will see there.

An injury settlement to reclaim the roster spot over the winter makes a ton of sense. Give him his major league salary for a year, since he was going to get it anyway, and commit to his continuing medical care, and then get a MiLB deal done.
