  1. You don't get to play this card, you are the one that brought your unsolicited opinions to the board and you are the intolerant one on the board. My best friend is homosexual and I trust him with my life and I would appreciate if you would keep your incredibly wrong and hateful opinions to yourself for the entirety of your continued membership to this site.

  3. disciplined? The ump union will probably want to give him a raise. their response to the machado ejection was bush league. right now one of the biggest problems in MLB is the ump's union and I'm more often than not a union guy.

  7. Tilson is the better player. I love how they keep trotting Cordell out for matchups when he can't hit RHP or LHP.

  16. Robert 0-2, now down to .303 with a free falling OPS below .850

  17. Teams who compete year end and year out spend big bucks. It doesn't always work out, but they are mostly in the contention conversation. Those frugal spenders tend to be the one hit every 5 to 8 year wonders and playoff flameouts.

  18. Interested to see @Look at Ray Ray Run's thoughts. He was completely right about Sexton last year when I thought he was doo doo.

  19. Actually its good to have on base guys at the end of the batting order as well, especially in the 9 hole, just not as good as the 1 and 2 spot, so that way the lineup can be turned over to the top of the order. If we have free swingers, players who like to hit a HR or K, should be in the 6th,7th and 8th spot. Tim Anderson has shown he is more of a free swinger.

  20. No reason to be mad about Yoan. He had a couple of hits the next night.

  21. Yeah, I don't like the way Law acts publicly sometimes but when he's talking baseball he's a great evaluate. In the past, he was off with his analysis on pitchers but It seems like he has evolved away from bucketing pitchers based on their mechanics. I do have some doubt with his draft reporting because a lot of people don't like him but in terms of just evaluating players - with consideration for of his knowledge operations/labor/etc. - he may be the best.

  25. This shit again? Plenty of other teams have used the exact same ploy to get what they want, and succeeded. It not new or unique . The Sox are in Chicago, they will be for the foreseeable future

  26. Just to clarify. The sox were never "close" to moving there. It was never anything more than a bargaining chip. It's amazing how many took that threat seriously.

  27. 28.15% strikeout rate - 13th in total strikeouts for all of MLB which is nice to see him come down from the most or one of the most. This has been an "A" season for Moncada. I never would have dreamed he could hit for this high of an average / OPS over an entire half of a season. I was thinking .270/.820ish this year. Yoan is my favorite Sox player, and the advanced stats look good and look like this is for real, but it's still too early to tell what type of total package he'll be with the sample size.

  29. Like LaRoche, Robertson, and Melky a few years back? The Sox have already played that game and lost big time. Go get Rendon and/or Cole. If Cole goes to the one of the big boys trade Madrigal and another piece for Zach Grienke.

  30. Chuck Tanner has the managerial record for consecutive last place finishes. Obviously, the better the roster, the better the manager. Bad players make smart moves not work. Good players make bad decisions work out. Good players win, bad players don't.

  31. Kyyle has proven my point in his last post. SI1020, Im happy to stick with baseball and that is what I was doing until they started to negatively comment on my faith for no reason but to silence me and comments I made on a thread months ago. I get it though, everyone is a little on edge after the Cubs had us whipped up.

  32. It’s futile to question stupidity. And yes, Renteria should be fired and replaced with a competent manager. However, his eventual replacement will likely be Omar Vizquel, whether that’s a good thing or not.

  33. Big time. Just looked up his stats. Any idea where he is starting this year?

  34. Tilson is much better and should be playing most games regardless of whether the starter is right or left handed.

  35. I actually can’t remember how to spell his name, but I’ve been following this outfielder from AA. It’s like Luey Robertson, or something like that. Seems to have great speed, but also hits for power. Plays center field.

  40. Mark my words...Madrigal would come back to haunt us.

  41. I'm not that worried. His stuff is still there. His velocity is still there. His fastball command has escaped him the past couple starts. I'd rather see him go through this weird funk in the minors, fix it and come up with confidence when he reaches the majors. Kopech had a more extended, more worrying funk in AAA before going on a dominant stretch. I don't think Cease is hurt and I don't think he has the yips or anything (like Hansen possibly does), so I think he'll be fine.

  42. We were told he is the most major league ready hitter in his draft class and would be gold glove caliber right now. Has great stolen bases abilities and his strike outs are practically nonexistent. Teams need guys who can lay down bunts, hit behind the runner, steal a base and catch the ball. The Sox have Jimenez & Abreu who are good power guys but just adequate defensively. Moncada, Anderson & Robert are 5 tool guys and not many teams have 3 of those. Guys like Madrigal will be just as integral to wins as any of the other players I've named. I'll stick with my opinion that two good starters and a right fielder are what is needed for Sox competing for the WS.

  43. You already have Madrigal coming up soon to handle 2nd base for the next 10 years. Forget spending money on what we don't need and spend it on pitching and right field.

  44. I'm probably in batshit crazy PlayStation mode here, but a couple bullet points.... Moncada is the best hitter on the team and should hit 3rd. Abreu isn't a 3 hitter. F$%& pride. He is a power bat in decline, and should bat cleanup. Eloy is at his ceiling a prototypical 5 hitter on a great offensive team. We don't have a prototype OBP/Speed leadoff hitter, Anderson needs as many ABs as he can get so he can have the most impact for the team. So... Anderson McCann Moncada Abreu Eloy Everyone else on the team is replacement level or below so who cares who hits where after the 5-hole. I'm gonna go back to my day job now and stop with the armchair baseball managing.
