  1. Well sure but he'd easily be one of the four best DH on the Sox.

  2. Colas HR #3. He is in beast mode.

  4. I think they finally have a top down approach for hitting development and have also gotten more modern. Seems like for a stretch the onus was on the player to figure things out themselves or proactively seek help from their hitting coach. I think the function under Barkett & Johansen is much more proactive.

  5. Damn if you damn if you don't. LaRussa not using his 2 best horses to close out a game gets highly criticized. Uses them today, 3 runs and counting. At some point, players need to perform ?

  6. No Vaughn today, but more Sheets! Unless I missed an injury, fire this fucking clown!!

  11. Nice outing for Kelley 4.2IP 4H 1ER 2bb 7K 76 pitches, 45 for strikes. He's been steadily improving.

  12. Rick Hahn had about as bad of an offseason as any executive has ever had that thought they were playing for multiple championships. Only Lance Lynn's knee saved him from total failure as he lucked into Cueto. Clean house JR. You are farther along than the Bulls. Hiring someone who knows what they are doing can get you back on track next year. But Rick ,Kenny and Tony have to go bye bye.

He's been the Barons announcer for over 30 years. Life long dream for him and just like the minor league player that loves the game and plays as long as there is a chance....

  14. Yes, let us wildly celebrate a triumphant series split at home, successfully gaining no ground on a team they need to pass in the standings.

  15. Barons win. Colas finishes 3-3, 2HR, a single and a walk. Now hitting .458 with a 1.417 OPS at AA. He's been on fire ever since, according to Barkett, he made a slight swing adjustment. Is it possible, and I really don't want to get my hopes up, that the Sox minor league hitting coaches are actually pretty good? They helped Sosa make a leap and Colas has clearly gotten better as the year has gone on.

  16. I don't think you can add another 1B/DH type to this roster. Any LH bat that gets added has to be someone that can actually play the field.

  17. That’s a steep price to pay for Benintendi ?

  18. "Soto is way better than Colas at the same age" caused me to find out that Soto is actually 2 months younger than Colas! Colas might very well be the young savage we're all hoping for, but obviously Soto is on a completely different level from him and every other prospect in baseball. He'll be one of the most valuable players ever traded if & when it happens.

  19. Sox win. Rough weekend for the megaposters, they mad. This thread only being 14 pages at the end of the game says it all

  22. Cease had his worst stuff in months and still went 6-0. He’s so damn good now.

  23. Ya I mean one guy will go 7 and give up at least 5 and the other guy will most likely go 6 with out giving up anything. It sucks to be the guy who only goes 6.

  24. If TLR had a brain, he’d do the opposite of what this training staff recommended him
    3 points
  25. That's an interesting theory. In this reality, TLR never forgave Jerry for canning him and their "friendship" was just the long con so TLR could ruin the rebuild and mess up Loretta's Lounge. Revenge is a dish best served in its own seating area. I like it.

  30. There are so many parties to blame for this disaster of a a season, but Hahn is chief amongst them with one of the worst off-seasons in recent memory for what should have been a legit championship contending team. A big part of that is his failure to build quality scouting and player development functions, which has stalled our pipeline of talent and has lead to poor acquisitions at the major league level. There have been some improvements recently (I like what Shirley is doing in the draft), but it’s too little too late IMO. It’s time to hold the top decision maker accountable and that means Rick Hahn has to go.

  31. Off day tomorrow and still no Yaz or Vaughn in the lineup.

  32. Why the heck is AJ Pollock hitting 3rd against a righty? The urgency to put pressure on Bieber just isn’t there from Tony. He’s in a tough spot because this team has like 5 DHs and he has to rotate them, but for Pete’s sake, Pollock is one of the worst players in the AL vs. RHP.

  33. Hahn definitely loves his old guys.

  34. The Sox have never paid anyone $75M. What would make people think they’d commit to paying Soto the $500M+ he’s looking to be paid?

  35. Calling an entire group of individuals classless isn't being a "kindler, gentler soul". It's being a judgemental, politically correct, holier than thou, douchebag. So calling that individual a halfwit is actually being kind.

  36. You’re nuts. I am not trading for 6.5 cost controlled seasons of Robert for 2.5 very expensive seasons from Soto.
    2 points
  37. Doesn’t sound like Washington is serious about moving him. The request probably includes Robert. Without him i I am sure AV, Montgomery, Cease/Kopech, Sosa, Mena/Vera and Colas all involved. Just isn’t worth it IMO unless they can do something like AV, Sosa, Mena/Vera and a lesser 4th price.

  38. Yikes the venom is real. Is a person in today's society really a halfwit because he wants people to treat each other better ? I disagreed with the guy in the game thread but only because I think the Sox deserve the same scorn they show the fans. Maybe the real halfwits are the ones who take all this a wee bit too seriously and can't think rationally and put things in perspective.

  39. Some halfwit in the game thread called sox fans classless for booing and chanting fire Tony

  40. Considering tonight was his lowest pitch count of the season, probably not. He has 3 games over 100 and 1 at 99 out of his 7 starts this year. Although i personally didnt hate the decision to pull him after 6, I would have preferred he'd gone with someone other than Ruiz.

  41. 100% agree. Renteria was absolutely a better manager.

  43. What's even more embarassing is how much shit talking the Sox, especially Tim, were doing. "They gotta go through us." "Change the Game." Tell me, what are you changing about the game? Nothing good. Tell you what, the game is humbling you. You aren't above the game. No one is. And guess what, they're going through you. Like a bulldozer.

  44. How did JR miss what Tony did to the DBacks?
    2 points
  45. Sure why not, but...we all knew what the Sox needed. First, another starter as for some reason they didn't even want a draft pick for Rodon. So they get Velasquez. They need a 2B. So Big Energy gets the call. They are very right handed and need someone who rakes RHP. Pollock is their answer. They need more bullpen help. How about an injured Joe Kelly. Teana sign guys that don't work out all the time, yet you could see the logic in their signings. These work out just like anyone would have expected. It should cost multiple people their jobs.

  46. its mind boggling how bad of a job he has done over the last few years. Could it have been better with a different owner? Sure.. but when you get outclassed consistently by organizations with much lower payrolls you have to look at how the money is getting spent.
