Don't be surprised if he's good in his contract year. I wouldn't mind, obviously.2 points

He’s so much more dangerous hitting LHP than Yoan, it’s too bad his defense has underperformed2 points

If you watched the games last year, Andrus was honestly one of the only guys who seemed dangerous at the plate.2 points

Not scoring with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs? That's so White Sox. Also I'd like to take this time to make the case for Vaughn hitting 5th, ahead of Yoan.2 points

Zero explosiveness from Yoan's RH swing there2 points

If his elbow is indeed fully healthy after his injury in 2017, then there's a chance the resurgence is real. We can cite his numbers the past 4 years all we want, but if the guy played with a bum elbow all those years and it's finally healthy, then those numbers might not mean much.2 points

If yr like me, always in a time crunch, I DVR the game and fast forward all the stoppages, commercials, etc, I usually do this for football as those 30 second fast forward frames usually coincide with the ending of a play and start of another 90% of the time, I see no reason to think that it wouldnt work for baseball. I know Im missing part of the commentary and so on but the time it saves makes it advantageous at least for me But agreed, anything to speed up the game is welcome. If only all pitchers were named Mark Buehrle.....2 points

How difficult is it to catch a pop up? Double A, Triple A or on the 40 man roster for the big club we're talking about simple fundamental pop up's here. Why do the Sox seem to have issues with something basically any high school or college player does easily? The Sox have been brutal for decades, not just the past few years at fundamentals, it has cost them a lot of games. Fans have seen enough of it so they are sensitive to this area of the game. I use the term "baseball stupid" when talking about the Sox players in general...I mean who else has ever run themselves in an 8-5 triple play before? Compounding things is we've heard for years the same pap nonsense from the organization on 'how defense is important,' 'we're working on stuff in spring training' et al. Yet nothing ever seems to change. Pedro has already talked a lot about how it has to improve. OK...we'll see if it in fact does. So far it looks like more of the same.2 points

Some how Red Sox games will be 4 hours long still. Cant tell you how happy I’ll be during a week night game in attendance when I’ll look up in the fourth inning and it says 8:15 not 9:301 point

Before I go into the why, I want make something clear. The past 18 months have been incredibly difficult to be a White Sox. It started with one of the most underwhelming off-seasons in my life where Rick Hahn ignored major needs, loaded up on pricey relievers, and gave a three year deal to Leury fucking Garcia. That followed with a season filled injury, underperformance, poor fundamentals, and terrible managing / coaching. What was once one of the most promising young cores in baseball looked like it was quickly approaching the end of its competitive window. And somehow, things were made worse this past winter with another mediocre off-season where we lost the face of the franchise and found out our star closer is battling cancer. And it’s that consistent disappointment over the past 18 months that has brought my excitement and optimism for the Sox to an all time low. But sometimes when you step away a bit, you come back a bit more objective. There is still plenty of talent here, even if the roster remains flawed thanks to a GM that I don’t believe to be very good as his job and an owner that refuses to overspend to make up for that GM’s mistakes. While I’m not going to predict a World Series victory, I do think a division title will happen next year. 10 Reasons Why the Sox will win the AL Central in 2023: Pedro Grifol - There are no words to describe how bad Tony La Russa was at his job last year. Any credible replacement would represent a multi-win improvement. That being said, I think Grifol is the right man to bring out the best of this roster. Jose Castro - Similar to above, Frank “f*** the HR” Menechino was a disaster as our hitting coach. So far, Castro has said all the right things and it seems like he will prioritize utilizing the team’s raw power vs. focusing hitting lots of weak grounders. Better Health - I hate even typing this, but this team can only be healthier next year just through normalized luck. Goldy Simmons having a full off-season to work with our guys and the hiring of Geoff Head as Director of Sports Medicine will also help. Eloy at DH - The kid put up a 144 wRC+ over 84 games last year and showed why he once was a pillar of the rebuild. With the move to DH and some legit weight loss, Eloy could finally have a breakthrough season and one where he plays +140 games. Vaughn at 1B - Andrew had a 125 wRC+ through August last year, before wearing down in September and seeing his FY line drop to 113. Playing a less demanding position should allow him to endure a full season and allow him to take a big leap. OF Defense - Vaughn & Sheets were two of the worst defensive OFs in the game last year (Andrew being far & away the worst). Replacing them with Benintendi & Colas is a massive improvement. And Robert can only be better in 2023 as well. Angry Tim - Let’s be honest, this dude is mad as f*** and is already starting to think about his next payday. He is going to to motivated as hell this year and is going to bring his his A game. I fully expect him to rebound to his previous +4 win player form. A New Junior - With a new name comes new beginnings. I believe Robert is going to flash that Mike Trout lite potential next year. The 155 wRC+ he put up in 2021 is my expectation along with above average CF defense. A +6 win season is possible. The Rotation - I’m very optimistic about the group this year. We got less than five wins from Lynn, Giolito, & Kopech last year and I expect that figure to double. And while Clevinger is pure scum, I do think he’ll give us quality production at the #5 spot. The Division - Last but not least, but the AL Central is simply not good. I get the Guardians won 92 games last year, but I don’t see them repeating that despite what projection models may say. I think they’re a high 80’s win team and we can beat that.1 point

Because he also pitched on occasion, the Leury statue should be right next to the speed pitch attraction and if you break 95 mph, Rick Hahn appears to give you a league minimum bullpen contract. Jerry saves money, Rick builds the bullpen, and Leury's legacy is honored.1 point

I agree with this. Yes, the regular season is more fun when in contention and yes its great to watch playoff games that include the Sox. It is, however, soul crushing to spend an entire 162 game season putting in the time and commitment to watching probably 140 of these games if not more only to see them get unceremoniously dumped in the first round. I understand what hes trying to say.1 point

A new manager isn’t going to make an organizational difference in a few weeks when the root of the problem is the entire franchise.1 point

When the Sox got knocked out by Houston two years ago, I still enjoyed the s%*# out of that series. The Sunday night game was awesome, and I wasn’t even there. Had some friends over to watch in my basement, and it was so fun. Then I went to the game on Tuesday when we got slaughtered and eliminated, and even that was a great memory. Waking up all jacked, taking the train down there with a buddy, going crazy when Rodon got out of the bases loaded jam and then when Sheets went deep for a 1-0 lead. Sure, the outcome sucked, but I would love another experience like that.1 point

If the Sox don't at least advance to the ALCS, then I really don't care whether they make the playoffs or not.1 point

A great improvement. Let's see if there are any unintentional consequences with injuries. Hopefully it leads to better pitching and less continual max effort throwing.1 point

It feels a little rushed to me, but it’s definitely an improvement. I wouldn’t be surprised if they agree to add a little more time. I’m also not crazy about a player getting an automatic strike if he takes a little while to collect himself in the 9th inning of a big game. We’ll see how that plays out. Overall - big improvement. Stone and Benetti are going to have to squeeze the Nationwide jingle in at 45RPM.1 point

The pitch clocks and no shift were amazing. Most enjoyable game and pace I have been to since a Buehrle start. Tim and Yoan were awesome to my kids. Eloy is in shape and Colson on back fields has a beautiful swing. Like beautiful.1 point

Have to get off to a fast start to rebuild the fan interest. .500ish first couple of months and tepid attendance means the focus is on trading guys like Anderson, Giolito, Moncada, Grandal and Lynn. Still no idea what we're going to get out of Graveman and Lopez at the back end of the pen. Hoping for a hyper competitive 2008ish season minus the Quentin injury late.1 point
