Very good chance. Time to read up on undersized Sophomore First Basemen in college with no glove for the 2025 1st pick.4 points

I'm only going to check the game thread to see if the Sox give or screw @wegner out of his Italian American hat.4 points

I will miss him too and will wish him the best of luck. It's really sad this Hahn rebuild has been such a huge debacle. Gio was suppose to be one of the many key players brought in during the original rebuild, as part of the Adam Eaton trade. What the Sox fans and the Sox clubhouse and dugout culture will miss dearly...is a real upbeat, intense and positive teammate that brought a ton of fire and excitement to this team. I hope Gio kicks butt at his next team in 2024. Then once again we'll have another documented example of a former Sox player going somewhere else and thriving even better.4 points

It’s probably safe to call Moncada an overpaid bust at this point. It’s a sad waste of talent but it is what it is. He’s still the best defensive 3B on the team when he can play, emphasis on when. His contract makes him pretty immovable, but it’s not like Burger or Remillard or Romy are better. And I think we’ve finally seen enough of Burger to put any expectations of him being a productive everyday player to rest.4 points

Maybe he should have made better choices off the field (not just the baby mama thing)3 points

I’d sell him for a penny on the dollar just to get his disgruntled ass off the club3 points

Poor Tim, it's everyone else's fault he's playing so bad. Sounds to me like it's getting to him.3 points

I was wondering the same. Did Jason get fired or is there Cornhole on ESPN he needs to announce tonight?3 points

Just tuned in who is announcing with Stone and why is he so terrible3 points

Shitty teams leads to shitty chemistry but this team managed to check itself out in May, that's fucking impressive.3 points

Zero people to meet Burger at the steps. Grifol has lost this team 100%3 points

Who cares about Bummer? Score one single solitary run with the first 30 outs you got, and he doesn't touch the mound.3 points

Grifol is so clueless. It makes me happy to know the idiot has blown his one and only shot.3 points

Bummer is gonna go somewhere else and be awesome and I’m fine with that because f*** this guy3 points

I absolutely cannot wait to never watch Grandal play for the Sox3 points

Luis Robert, and Colas to a bit of a lesser degree, are the only reasons I watch this team, at this point. I think its insane to even consider a trade that involves Luis.3 points

I don't think anyone is advocating he's a build around guy.. But if he could be a 25+ homer guy, with a .800 OPS, he can be a guy we don't need to immediately upgrate.3 points

I actually think this handling of colas is pretty decent. Gave him a shot, was horrible, sent him down, bring him up with success. Not bad. You see the braves making early call ups on guys but also always letting them know they are in competition and need to improve. Vaughn Grissom was damn good last year. They took Arcia to start season over him. They had a good catcher, they traded for a much better one. It does a lot. You can't ever stop in baseball like the white sox do constantly under Hahn.3 points

The warning signs were there from day 1 with this dude. Rick Hahn got taken to the cleaners on the Chris Sale trade.3 points

Fanbase? Hell, the GM and coaching staff do it too.3 points

Who said anyone was actively looking? This was all over social media yesterday. And yeah when the "face of the franchise" is telling people/fans who are upset he's turned into a garbage player to f off, I think it's worth noting. When you thrust yourself into the public eye people will take notice.3 points

Robert is so valuable that it's hard to see the White Sox getting anyone to offer a fair return for him. 4.5 years of control for an all star is just nuts. Personally, I think the only real solution to getting out of the hole the White Sox are in is to tear it down at least to the Cease level, because their system is so weak that they cannot replace the pieces (G) that they are losing to FA. The only way they're going to make a dent in the next 2 years is to make use of assets like Cease to fill holes. But, I doubt the White Sox will do anything other than play for 2nd place in a weak central division. Hell, I'll be surprised if they actually move anyone, since doing so is the right decision.3 points

To be honest, I'm very hesitant to judge Grifol on this just because it's clear he has been handed a bag of s%*#. This is a team that was essentially built to win this division and nothing else. And the fact that they might be able to get away with that because this division is such a s%*#-show, tells you just about everything you need to know about this team. As an Arsenal supporter, I remember the whole Arteta out thing. Granted, he had more immediate success when he won the FA Cup but his first full season was brutal. Once Arsenal committed to the project he wanted, we saw results. Granted, the results that he got hinged on the Arsenal board's willingness to spend big money to get him the players he wanted. We need a clearing out of this front office. But I'm hesitant to throw Grifol out with the bathwater just yet.3 points

I’d still guess you can get someone to take on a couple million on Lynn’s contract. An experienced pitcher at the back of your rotation is almost always better down the stretch than calling up your eighth starter, and there are definitely teams at that point right now.3 points

Problem there, is, baseball is a 'what have you done for me lately?' game. And Yoan lately has done....well...very little. 3 of the last 4 seasons, under 1 WAR, for a guy at his salary, is crazy.3 points

just looked at Vaughns minor league numbers, i forget he didnt play at all in 2020. Vaughn has a total of ~60 games played in the minor leagues. Thats it. He never developed and his career looks like a big turd. Its beyond me how anybody would want to be drafted by the White Sox. I'd instruct my agent to hang up on Hahn if he came calling. Would be better to take the year and try again.3 points

I miss the days when we had the leadership of Paul Konerko, Thome, Dye, etc. Even when Anderson was going good I could tell he wasn't a leader. He needs someone to keep him in check, sadly he's never had that person on this team. His head is too big and he doesn't know how to handle criticism. Not a good combination for someone who is allegedly the "face of the franchise" at the moment.2 points

I mean yeah, they definitely picked wrong in the Johnson/Semien/Sanchez battle. Omar's a bad example since he was a starter here for 2 years. They just can't work with anyone on defense so they wanted to move on, cause they're bad at coaching. Phegley might be a better example here? Bassitt, yeah, dumb. Toss Montas in there. Luis Gonzalez. There's a lot to choose from. But I'm talking about Lenyn Sosa, Oscar Colas, etc. where they come up and because they aren't demolishing the ball, people want them gone. My dad never wants to see Lenyn Sosa again, but wants Remillard as the everyday second baseman moving forward. Following either one through the minors, you know that Sosa needs at-bats to adjust and that Remy (barring MLB growth) is likely destined to be a utility. Which would be just as cool.2 points
-
I picked those guys because I thought that was exactly what they did with them, write them off and then decide that its no big loss if they trade them. Semien? Just a utility guy, no big future. Bassitt? Only has a fastball, probably a bullpen guy. Narvaez - bad defensively, will clearly never learn.2 points

From what I've seen, Colas doesn't have the pitch recognition to be successful at the MLB level. Seems to be the definition of a 4A player.2 points

Not trading Middleton would be insane. He's a FA in 3 months. He's paid nothing. He's been really good. I imagine lots of clubs would be interested. If you can turn him into a SP prospect (won't be a super higher end one, obviously), you absolutely have to do it.2 points

AV's bat has been OK, but for a guy that offers literally nothing other than the bat at a premium offensive position, you need him to be much better than an 11% above average hitter. He's been pretty disappointing.2 points
-
He's put up 13.3 WAR and if you go $5 million per WAR he has been worth $66.5 Million. We have paid him somewhere around $37 million so far if I am looking at it right. Next season were talking about $61 million and assume he is bought out its exactly $66 million. Seems like even if he is on the team next season and is what he is now, we will have at least gotten what we paid for. All things considered, I would still consider him a bust.2 points

You continually see players come here and crater. Its not a one off, it happens all the time. Diekman threw 30 innings for the White Sox across two seasons and had an ERA over 7! Its an organizational issue, its happened too many times to chalk it up to dumb luck.2 points
