  1. The best offense in the AFL vs. the best pitching could have been an interesting battle, but Glendale's defense didn't show up today and obviously a bunch of Rays/Guards prospects will take advantage of that. Cousin was comically unlucky in his 2IP. Two runs scored on an error in the first, and then two more on a second error, a swinging bunt that traced the 3B line, and a passed ball in the second. No K's, but he also only gave up decent contact once, maybe twice. The defense definitely seemed to miss Ramos and Burke. The Mets prospect at 3B had 3 errors alone. Leasure also had a run score when the catcher threw the ball into the outfield... Even with 4+ unearned gifted to them, Peoria's 8 runs total is actually the lowest they've been held to so far...so there's that? Decent game for Colson, he was 2-5 with solid defense and smart baserunning. Ramos didn't get on base, but did get his first RBI. The pitching would have looked better if the IF could make routine plays, or the OF knew which bases to throw to, or the catcher could deter runners....Glendale lost 8-3.

  2. October 7, 2001 - Sox All-Star outfielder Magglio Ordonez became the first player in American League history to have a season with a .300 average, 40 doubles, 30 home runs, 100 RBI’s and 25 stolen bases. His hit against the Twins in the fourth inning went for his 40th double and the record. October 7, 2005 - At Fenway Park the White Sox won their first post season series of any kind since 1917 by beating Boston 5-3 to sweep the A.L.D.S. in three straight games. Paul Konerko’s two run home run gave the Sox some breathing room and then pitcher Orlando Hernandez saved it. Entering into a bases loaded, no out, one run lead situation in the sixth inning of game #3, “El Duque” got two pop outs and a strike out. It was an amazing performance in a pressure packed situation.

  3. Sounds like Andy Barkett is out too. Some of these guys may turn out to be part of strong orgs, we don’t know. But kudos to Getz so far for recognizing a house cleaning was due for even if it means we still have grifol/getz

  4. I can’t stomach to read the article, but the one thing Chris must acknowledge when he goes into this offseason is there is no path to winning in 2024. None whatsoever. That point is key because it should impact what he does in free agency and the trade market. All potential moves must take 2025 & 2026 into consideration. Don’t trade any prospects for win-now pieces. Don’t go out and sign a C tier free agent to the largest contract in franchise history. When adding stop-gap/transitional pieces, focus on guys that have a profile that might warrant something at the deadline if they actually pan out. Try to avoid multi-year commitments as much as you can and push for team options where possible. Most importantly are two specific things: Seriously listen on a Cease trade this off-season. No reason to keep him around for what will still be a long shot chance of competing in 2025. He needs to be moved between now and the next deadline. If the offers are there in the winter, don’t hold and risk an injury. Do not rush the key prospects. The farm is still in bad shape despite an infusion of talent at the deadline and we need to take our time with these kids. Approach the off-season as if the minors will be providing little help in 2024 and stick to that plan until one of these kids forces the issue.

  5. You realize by taking a “pass” on Conforto, we are now stuck with an ever worse player on a 4/$64M deal. I wish an $18M option was the only headwind left.

  6. Lynn is probably gonna start game 3 for them. The Dodgers' starting pitching is a mess.

  7. A weird day when removing White Sox personnel leads to a defensive collapse.

  8. Id pick up the option on TA. I don’t think he’s nearly the clubhouse issue some insinuate and there’s no where to go but up after his 2023 season. Sox have all sorts of $ to spend and no one better to take his spot right now. But I admit it’s no longer a no brainer and definitely interested to see what Getz does. If he moves another direction, I understand and wish TA the best. I suspect he’ll have a solid bounce back 2024 no matter where he is.

  9. He's always been accurate and he's always had great ball placement, that's never been the issue with him (except that throw on the run to Herbert last night that was so bad he broke Herbert, but that was an anomaly. 3 yards to the left and that's a huge gain and probably a TD). WHEN he's able to identify the throw, he'll let it rip and the throw is money. He just hasn't always been able to see those throws in time or know what specifically to do on a play. It's just a relief to see that Fields, at least for now, is not actually dead in the water, and does have NFL talent.

  10. Dude is built like Randy Moss, but stronger, and plays like he is built like Simone Biles (Simone would play with more heart though, I'm certain). Biggest p**** I've ever seen in a Bears uniform. He is down there with Anthony Miller for Bears players I hate most.

  11. Game 5: GDD vs. PEJ (Gameday | Live Stream) We have a stream today! Good timing as Cousin makes his first AFL start. Off day for Burke, Montgomery still in the 2 spot, but Ramos (DHing tonight) is now batting 5th. He's hit in every game he's played so far, so maybe that leads to some RBI opportunities.

  13. I think him and Ray Nitske (sp?) Were 2 of the baddest MF in their day

  14. We have 1 1/2 SPs and only a couple relievers…$1.7M for Touki is probably a no-brainer.

  15. Veras working with some familiar faces: He went 1-3 batting second and playing LF in a preseason match today. Old friend Micker Adolfo was playing RF. Two more old friends with Gigantes Del Cibao on the other side...Leury Garcia batting leadoff and playing LF, and Hanser Alberto batting second and playing SS. I bet they have some stories to swap. Leury hit a 2 run shot. In more forward looking developments, it looks like Johan Dominguez will be getting in some winter ball innings as he continues to works his way back from TJ. He's on GC with Hanser and Leury, and threw 2IP in his preseason start today. Other winter ball tidbits: Fittingly for a guy who hopes to return to Chicago, Colas is a bull. He hasn't appeared in the preseason yet, likely because the new dad is spending some time with his family (congrats to them!). Luis Mieses and Moisés Castillo are also with the Toros. Juan Carela is on their roster too, but I don't think he's expected to pitch. Lenyn Sosa might play in Venezuela again, but if so it will be later in the season.

  18. I would pay it for both of them, especially Crochet. Crochet has real talent Clint Frazier, on the other hand.... If they don't pay for Touki, they'll pay $10 million for a "proven veteran" fifth-starter type who is no better than Touki is.

  20. Coffey made his first appearance, 1 IP 1H 1K and 1 BB that came around to score. Colson with a 2 RBI single to tie the game in the next inning. Burke has a pair of walks and a HBP, Ramos is 2-4.

  22. Game 3: GDD vs. SCO (Gameday | No Stream) The Dogs picked up their first win, 7-1. Burke led off with a walk and SB before scoring on a 2 out hit for the first run. He also had a single later in the game. Montgomery and Ramos got the day off, and no Sox arms pitched. Game 4: GDD vs. SCO (Gameday | No Stream) Burke, Montgomery, Ramos are the top of the order again against Phillies #14 RHP Christian McGowan.

  24. I fully accept my admitted Cub hatred makes me a biased source...but am I the only one who has felt like he's on crazy pills throughout this oddly celebrated Cubs season? They went out and signed a bunch of free agents; I figured they'd be around .500. They ended up a couple games over in a shitty division and fell apart down the stretch, not unlike last season for the Sox. In other words, who cares? But there's this exuberant feeling around the team -- even after the choke. I just don't get it. It reminds me of the Bears offseason. It was conventional wisdom that things were "going really well" even though an unbiased outsider would have a hard time finding an objective basis for optimism. The cool thing to say was "the White Sox should just let Ryan Poles run the team" ...like the architect of the 3-14 Bears was this proven winner. Probably the same set of fans driving each phenomenon, now that I think about it -- I am hit hard every Fall by the realization that I'm now sharing a team with Cub fans. OK, rant over.

  26. pick up his option, hope for a rebound and then trade him at the deadline. I dont get why you would just let him walk this year. We have so much money coming off the books and nobody worth looking at in the minors (Montgomery isnt ready) at SS.

  30. I mean. Expect more of this. This is a rebuild even if they aren't saying the word. These will be the types of additions we see this offseason. Time to come to grips with it.

  31. Someone go look up yellow…. $500mm+ of our money was flushed down the toilet. Add up every one of the boards posters tax returns plus their entire family for years and we wouldn’t sniff $500mm in taxes. It was given to yellow becasue the ceo was friends w trump and was part of his “economic” recovery board. A total gift. They get a new fleet of trucks, go bankrupt. And reorganize the other side w a better Balance sheet and a better fleet. in between time they won’t pay their pensions, their worker comp claims, etc etc. nobody will care still. There’s so much corruption that the citizens don’t even fight back anymore. It’ll just continue to grow https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/yellow-corp-fails-to-pay-into-pension-fund-triggering-possible-strike/ar-AA1e4GdT
