Not much different happens with Hinch. Go back a few years earlier to an alternate timeline when the White Sox act like a professional organization and are wise enough to sign Bryce Harper when the biggest spenders could not. This is exactly what we have been doing loading up on utility players. This is 2024, not 1924. It doesn't work anymore.

For Eloy his entire stint with the White Sox centered around not having one ability. Availability. And when he was available, he was usually walking wounded. For a guy who was one of the top hitting prospects in the game to go absolutely no where during his six years year in a White Sox uniform when he should have been owning the game of baseball, both with his obvious charisma, and with his hitting ability is disappointing for most fans. Coming along and trying to talk down to everyone who feels this way, and then to drag the corpse of Andrew Vaughn who was never in his league to begin with as some sort of coping mechanism really doesn't achieve much. Bottom line: Eloy Jimenez was a massive failure and one of the faces of the Sox failure, along with guys like Michael Kopech, and is going to be remembered on the south side as such.

I know he’s 100 games under .500 in less than 2 seasons…but in no way should they jump into something too quickly by firing the guy until they know for sure it’s not working out. Like letting Pedro go without first seeing how BP goes in Oakland sounds a little hasty. Don’t want to lose sight of the big picture here—we need to focus on winning tomorrow’s MLB game in Oakland. Now if he drops to 101 or 102 games under .500, that’s totally different—we might just have to start “looking at the options” at that point—but right now?? That’s a little irrational.

Firing only KW/Hahn/Haber but leaving Getz and a lot of his cronies in place shows that this entire operation is wildly unserious. He couldn't train minor leaguers how to hit the ball. Wtf is he gonna do with major leaguers?

I absolutely believe that bringing in Machado or Harper also changes this a LOT. I think this is a more important breaking point for alternate timelines vs the Tony hiring.

Getz has demonstrated no ability to pick up good prospects in trades. Hes been fleeced in every trade.

Some of us have been arguing this for years, not just you. It is so frustrating. So if you do this, put $30M into infrastructure and have a $150M top end budget instead of $190M, then I'm pretty sure they could be competitive on an annual basis. Also the Sox are a great brand and a sleeping giant in Chicago. Jerry is completely abusing this franchise and fanbase.

Huh? Where am I "grasping for Getz's nuts"? I think he's done a pretty awful job all around. I also think this was always going to take a few years. Look, you can spend half your day on this board spewing negativity for the next however many years until the Sox are relevant again if you so please. Certainly your right. The organization is an absolute dumpster fire at the moment. But I am at least willing to see things through a bit knowing this wasn't going to be a good team in 2024 and 2025 no matter who the manager or GM were. I would have like our POS owner to make an actual GM hire, but he didn't and Getz is here and likely will be for awhile. Since I am a White Sox fan, I'll certainly hope for the best. I don't pretend to think WhiteSox2023 or I are more qualified for the job.

Attendance money definitely makes a difference. Obviously JR is (or was) running the team right now with a inflated budget from the last couple seasons and nobody is coming to the park this year and a lot of last year, and he is fine. But this is reducing and basically cutting off revenue streams, everyone that doesn’t come into the park, doesn’t buy a beer and food and apparel etc. and nobody wants to come next week because this week was so fun. And nobody is paying for parking, and less people are doing the 50/50 raffle it’s just all bad. This is a historic level of shooting yourself in the foot

The team is likely to be terrible until there is new ownership which likely will mean whoever is getting this job will be replaced before there is any chance of the team being good.

I mean, its not really that simple. Fedde has been better this year, but Rogers has been better in his career. Rogers is cheaper, has another year of control, is 5 years younger than Fedde, throws with his left hand and has more projectability. I will again footnote that I think the Fedde deal sucked, and they should have gotten another good prospect in the deal. But these aren't really apples to apples comps.

The other alternate timeline is: What if they signed Bryce Harper as a free agent in the spring of 2019? He was there for the taking, and his 13 year, 330 million deal actually seems pretty team friendly for the Phillies at this point. What difference would he have made when the White Sox window was open from 2020-2022? Would the window still be open now? We'll never know, unfortunately.

Yeah it sure seems that way. No reason to get attached to prospects and drafting because we're probably looking at a decade before they even get close to division contention. I'm coping by finding players I like in the system and hope that they find success before moving on to a contender.

I can't see a path to winning 70 games next season. Especially if they trade Crochet and Robert in the off season.
