  1. I caught slaters HR and made in memoriam video. Today was a good day

  2. Everyone here defending the Burger trade lost. I won the message board argument. Acknowledge me.

  3. Yoan, Timmy, Robert and DRose were all on the field today and not a single one of them started limping!

  4. A sincere wish that all Sox fans have a good season, something to be proud of again instead of constant embarrassment. Miracles sometimes happen, the 1977 "South Side Hit Men" and the 1990 "Doin' The Little Things" White Sox come to mind. I'd absolutely settle for a season like those two. As far as the organization/franchise/front office/players? I hope they are still playing meaningful games after Memorial Day. Play Ball! ⚾

  8. For god's sake. I last looked at this thread yesterday evening, and there's still a damn argument about a guy that has nothing to do with who the thread is about. I can't wait for the season to start later today, and we can argue about how badly the team will suck. Back to the subject at hand: I imagine some team will claim Canario when he is waived later today. Not sure it will be the Sox, but there's really no reason not to.

  9. This is easily the least looked forwarded to opening day in my life. But with low expectations comes the opportunity of fun

  12. Getting an infielder to pitch in game 1. You guys all owe this juggernaut of a team an apology.

  13. Stupid Benintendi. All we needed there was a deep fly ball, not a 3 run homer

  14. NUMBER ONE OFFSEASON TARGET PAYING OFF

  15. Which guys? Jankowski? He will be DFAed within seven days. Tauchman has been a legitimately productive OF for the last few years despite every poster here calling him “crappy”. Slater was one of the best hitters against LHP from 2019 to 2023 and was almost certainly a recommended “buy low” target of Fuller’s. I wouldn’t have added Taylor with the other two vets already in place, but Taylor is an elite defender who put up 2 fWAR/season from 2021 to 2023. Fletcher, Colas, & DeLoach can’t even hit AAA pitching in the second most hitter friendly park in AAA. People are demanding Getz be fired for losing 121 games last year and then turn around and complain about him adding what should be a 2 win RF platoon vs. the -2 wins they got out of the position last year. At this point, people will whine about everything. The people who were applauding the additions of Eder & Fletcher when first acquired are now throwing hissy fits about Getz being a total idiot for trading for them in the first place.

  16. The White Sox as constructed aren't a major league team.

  20. Today was my 55th straight Opening Day. They're always more fun when the White Sox win. I'm hoping Montgomery and Teel or Quero are brought up and if they produce this team could really be good. whI'm hoping that Montgomery and

  21. Sosa becoming a solid regular and Beni having neutral trade value relative to his contract sure as hell would help jumpstart this project. Burke looked OK imo but he got away with a lot.

  24. Man, I envy this guy. Just happy to be watching White Sox baseball. Not posting away like a dork on a message board bitching about everything.

  26. I've never said a bad thing about Slater ever. #1 target for a reason.

  27. The way to improve a terrible team with no outfield talent is to acquire young outfielders and try them out. Giving at bats to old vets may add a couple wins for this season only but does absolutely nothing for the team long-term.

  29. Getz gutted the pro scouting function after making this trade. If anything, this is a bad look on Barfield for recommend Fletcher over McCarthy.

  30. Because Fletcher, DeLoach, & Colas aren’t major league caliber players. They aren’t even young anymore for those who think they will suddenly figure things out at the major league level despite being bad at Charlotte.

  31. This is most alarming to me. Everyone is hanging their hat on all these changes and hirings being made behind the scenes and here we are DFA'ing people this regime just traded for one offseason ago.

  33. Also while we're at it, the Cease trade: Soft-throwing righty that needed Tommy John Hard-throwing righty with control issues that needed Tommy John 30-year-old reliever that has been DFA'd Young CF prospect, but didn't hit above .200 at A+ ball "Best package offered" EDIT: Got Berroa and Iriarte mixed up. I've got my issues with Iriarte, but he is obviously a lot higher ceiling than Berroa.

  37. Woof. Surprising choices. At least Getz appears willing to admit his mistakes. Hahn would have held onto Fletcher for several more seasons (though I'd rather play Fletcher than the shitty vets they signed).

  38. Happy Opening Day! The Day we are all equal and everyone still has a shot. Enjoy the positivity in that and the celebratory bunting hanging from the rafters... I'll be at the Rangers game seeing Jake Burger hit a bomb off of Garrett Crochet. Go Sox!

  39. This is probably the worst Opening Day roster I have ever seen. Robert is a legit mlb player. I'm not sure anyone else is a lock to be i the league two years from now. Here's an interesting exercise: would you be SHOCKED if this player was DFA'd in the next three months? Lee - No Thaiss - No Vaughn - A little Sosa - No Amaya - No Vargas - No Benintendi -Yes Robert - Yes Slater - Kinda Jankowski - No Taylor - No Baldwin - Yes Maton - No I think there is some upside in guys like Lee, Sosa, and Vargas. But if things go horribly wrong, not a lot keeping them in the league. Amaya, Maton, Taylor, and Jankowski -- I would be shocked if they're not DFA at some point. Slater is owed some money, so that's why I'd be a little surprised.
