After putting the worst team in baseball history on the field in 2024, you would expect there to be some sort of improvement in year 2. There is none, and this team looks just as bad if not worse than 2024. I believe the only way that happens is if you don't know what you're doing. This should come as a shock to no one, as Chris Getz was not and is not qualified to be a GM of a MLB team.5 points

Elko will get his shot at some point this season. The current outcry for Elko cracks me up a bit. Same people will be moaning about how bad he is when he starts 5/50 with 30 Ks. It'll be interesting to see how Sox manage the catcher situation. I think Quero will be DHing a lot and Thaiss and Lee will still be catching most of the time. That means Elko doesn't really have a spot to play unless they cut AV, which we all know isn't happening 20 games into the season.5 points

Hagen Smith has struck out 4 of the first 6 guys. 25 pitches/19 strikes. So that's encouraging.4 points

When you’re hitting .139, it doesn’t really matter which way you swing it.4 points

Yep, it’s really been hard to be a Sox fan the last 3 years. The only reason I haven’t given up is the hope of new ownership and hopefully very soon.3 points

Can someone message me when all of these geniuses we hired start making a positive difference?3 points

Robert is cooked, there's no way we get anything special for him at this point. I just don't think he cares playing for this horseshit organization.3 points

Ya. They are not cutting Vaughn 20 games into the season for a guy that is like 4 months younger and almost certainly worse. I'm not an AV guy (who can be at this point?), and the writing is on the wall that this is his last season with the Sox. I don't see how he can play himself into a tender for 26. And I'm not against cutting him if he continues to blow for another 50 games and confirms he untradeable. At that point, ya cut him and try Elko. I'm not even opposed to Elko taking Matons roster spot for the time being. But your bench just gets really inflexible with 3 catchers and 2 1B only at that point, and Elko plays maybe 2 days a week. What's that accomplish?3 points

For me, it’s just wanting to move past the guys of the last failed rebuild.3 points

Were there even 5000 in attendance today? JR has effectively destroyed this organization.2 points

When a team is so terribly overmatched, it looks like they aren't giving any effort at times, because they aren't good enough. Outside of a couple of guys, that is the case for almost all of this roster.2 points

I'm not sure this toxicity will be removed in my lifetime. I don't think the fan base will ever be restored outside of a World Series.2 points

We're just as bad as last year probably worse on paper. The problems in the White Sox organization are multifold.2 points

I’ll be honest, I am starting to lose the little bit of hope I had that Getz wasn’t the shitty Farm Director that he appeared to be and that his failures were a result of being held back by KW & Hahn. I have no doubt that he’s made some structural improvements to the org, but ultimately you have to be able to marry the data and technology and turn it into meaningful actions to drive real change and I am currently unconvinced he knows how to do that.2 points

Is anyone still trying to champion that the 2025 rotation & bullpen were going to be better than 2024? lol.2 points

Upset about being traded Best shape of his life Revamped swing Former Top 40 prospect getting a chance Incredibly talented hard worker Dude got the whole platter of puff pieces this offseason and he still sucks2 points

I always thought the “he was upset about being traded” excuse was one of the dumber things I’ve ever heard. Went from no future with a team and playing in the minors to getting a full shot with a major league team.2 points

Getz is historic. He got to 100 games below .500 as a GM faster than Pedro did as a manager.2 points

What's even more sad is he's gotten playing time at lead off and clean up hitter quite a bit.2 points

I can't wait for Andrew "Cruise Control" Vaughn to get us a Top 50 prospect out of absolute nowhere at the deadline.2 points

Eh, honestly, with the failures of the people in front of him, I think giving the kid a chance, even if he massively fails, isn't a crazy ask. I think the frustration lies with doing things we KNOW don't work. I think the non-tender Vaughn crowd led by about a 90-10 margin this offseason, so it isn't surprising people are coming for Vaughn either. The Sox have a weird obversion to certain young players, despite a raging need for players who do exactly what they do.2 points

I don’t think anyone thinks Elko will be some sort of savior. It’s just that Vaughn is terrible and Maton is the primary DH. Also, Elko isn’t getting any younger (27 in December) so it seems reasonable to see what he can do. But to your point, since Quero will likely see time at DH, Vaughn is probably the guy who needs to go to make room for Elko.2 points

If you think that indicates they are close to competing, I'd have to disagree. Plus their schedule so far has not even been against competitive teams.2 points

“Trout 2.0” lol one thing I can’t figure out is why do Sox hitters peak in their low to mid 20s? We’ve seen it now with Timmy, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Madrigal, Vaughn. Given the peak was short lived in most of these cases but each hitter got objectively worse when they entered their late 20s. Does this happen to other teams too? Seems odd to me.2 points

No one saying it's murderers row, but they should put up a little more fight and maybe win some of these games that were within reach2 points

In theory and assuming everyone is healthy and on the roster this should be what's happening and in no specific order: Tauchman/Slater RF Robert CF Vargas 3B/DH Vaughn 1B/DH Quiero/Thaiss C Baldwin SS Meidroth 2B Benintendi LF/DH Drury DH/3B Bench: Taylor OF (Defense good to keep around and spot Start. Sosa 2B/1B Jones PR/Of in a major pinch2 points

I don't think that's true about the offense. They seem to have a lot more people on base this year, they just can't deliver the big hit. Vaughn, Robert, and Vargas are killing them.2 points

Even if they're not taking him seriously....why the hell not? There is literally nothing blocking anyone here. For Christ sake they just need to go full Costanza....start doing the opposite of every natural instinct they have.2 points
