They sent him down to work on slap hitting, none of this HR nonsense is allowed3 points

Bringing in Tony completely killed the entire thing. Look how much fun they were having the year before. He sucked the life out of them by the ASB.2 points

I often wonder if it would be different if Hinch was the manager. It just seems the TLR/Grifol era was toxic.2 points

on the other hand, don't shove your opponents twice for no reason in your first game back after being relegated to AAA. or: hit over .100 in the MLB before shoving people lol. my bad, he's up to .1582 points

I think it’s more this team sucks and he doesn’t want to be here and doesn’t care.2 points

I’m happy for you that the Sox are bad, I guess. Isn’t there a PCA fan board you can go post on?2 points

I would like to apologize to @JUSTgottaBELIEVE. Robert is a fucking headcase and despite having all the tools and taking some steps in the right direction, he can’t seem to put it altogether. I remain adamant that as soon as we trade him, the other org will immediately figure out how to fix him and reap the rewards of a massive buy low. But alas, that won’t help us now in terms of trade value.2 points

Votto was a different dude. If his career was in New York or LA he would probably be legendary right now just waiting for that bust into cooperstown2 points

The Sox rank near the bottom of the league in stats like avg, obp, slugging, ops. They aren’t really improved much from last year in that regard. Now a lot of that has to do with the roster still filled with bad players, so if by improved you mean they’re 28th instead of 30th then sure, they’ve improved.2 points

I intentionally picked on specific players? LOL… Luis Robert is our most talented player, and in his prime. This is pretty much irrefutable. Andrew Vaughn is our former 3rd overall pick, and in his prime as well. They are having the worst seasons of their careers. So I will ask again, where is Ryan Fuller in this? And if you want me to also link all the MLB team hitting stats so you can see that the Sox are pretty much near last in every recordable offensive statistic, I can do that. Should I do that for your reference?2 points

I actually think this is interesting and maybe deserves its own thread. Crochet has been everything Boston could have hoped for yet they are 28-31. If he was still with the WS, I am not sure Boston would even be in on him in a trade. Also, Boston wouldn't know if they could sign him to an extension and the way he is pitching, he might want more than what he did accept. The WS end of the deal. Meidroth is a 23 yo who has a .360 OBP in MLB, 1.1 WAR to this point and is playing decent SS. In Law's updated top 50 minor leaguers, Montgomery is #20 and Teel #24. Gonzalez is 23yo, in AAA(though bullpen) 1.42 ERA but walking too many. I am not sure you get a better deal today. I kinda think it has been a win win and we know JR wasn't going to allow 170 million or more future commitment to keep Crochet.1 point

Today was already the 12th game this season the Sox held an opponent to three runs or less...and lost the game. That's wasting some pretty good pitching because of a putrid offense.1 point

Sounds right. My family has had the tickets since the early 60's as well.1 point

That's true, no one can succeed in a job when they take over for their boss who sucked Instead of prejudging people maybe give them a chance. If not, enjoy the misery for the next few years.1 point

Just a little mid-year update. Crochet is the 4th best pitcher in MLB so far, and it's between Skubal, him and Skenes for most valuable arm in baseball. Meidroth has been worth 1.1 fWAR in 33 games with a 111 wRC+. That's a really nice pace and Meidroth might be a 3-4 win consistent performer. He will likely need to find a little more contact authority or defenses will adjust and it will hamper his production, but he's shown enough for me to believe that could happen. Teel has a 127 wRC+ in AAA. Given the Sox depth at catcher, I always found this to be an odd centerpiece. All in all though, Teel has maintained his status and projection but don't believe he's taken any steps up in status. Montgomery has a 143 wRC+ in A+. I think it's clear that Montgomery will be more highly rated come mid-season update than he was pre-season. How he performs at AA will be big for his projection/expectation going forward. Gonzalez, like all other pitching prospects, can't throw strikes. If he doesn't improve his zone control, he will not be worth anything. All in all, I think the winner is still clearly the team getting the generational talent BUT Meidroth will really lift the floor of this trade if he continues on his path. We still need to see success from Teel AND Montgomery to make this a win given the uniqueness of Crochet's skills.1 point

Were they not "trying" last year? If not explain all of the veteran signings. Some are so blinded by their own Fox Mulder "I want to believe" that they will buy any line of BS they get fed.1 point

I also need these guys to prove that they're better Eloy, Moncada, Robert, TA, Kopech, Gio and Rodon over an extended period of time. People couldn't wait to jettison those guys, but they all (except probably Kopech) had a minimum of one above average season. Colson is/was supposed to be the cornerstone of this rebuild and most are now crossing him off. Ramos looked like he'd be his running mate. I'd really like to see those two get back in the mix. They aren't good yet. They're showing a pulse. Victory laps are not in order.1 point

2024: 15-41 2025: 18-38 Nobody is blinded here, this team is just as bad as they were last year so far and just because you enjoy watching Meidroth, Vargas, Quero, and Smith doesn't mean you should trick yourself into thinking this is enjoyable. This is still going to be a long miserable season with a lot of bad baseball. I totally understand how there are some more enjoyable things about it, but we don't need to pretend that this team has taken some massive leap from 2024. They haven't.1 point

You can still enjoy the like, 2-3 potential long term pieces on the MLB roster and want Jerry to wear the worst record of all time crown since that has already happened both can be true.1 point

My uncle had Bears season tickets in the early 60's. I seem to recall he said the 1963 season tickets were either $28 or $35. He did go to the Championship game against NY but had standing only tickets.1 point

Everytime my battered and bruised White Sox fandom begins to heal - and I do watch games, much to my wife's confusion - someone like you comes along and ruins it by fluffing this org because they've taken the current title holder of Worst Team of All Time and are merely improving to Standard Horrible. It's like going from Jones Soda's Turkey & Gravy flavor to Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray. No one wins until we move on up to something consistently enjoyable. But let's assume we eventually reach like, Diet Pepsi status at minimum. Don't you think those soda cans - I know I'm beating this metaphor into the ground - deserve a new vending machine that accepts credit cards and phone payments instead of one that only accepts fresh-from-the-bank $1s. Why do you hate them so much?1 point

Lmao. Tray, be serious. Nobody gets their panties in a bunch about anything around here more than you. If we merely mention the numbers “78” then you get so upset you just wanna fight people Oh boy thank god for you and reinsdorf.1 point
