This s%*# of rotating Quero and Teel everyday needs to stop. One catches and the other DH's every single fucking day. Get rid of Slater/Tauchman/Capra/Rojas and bring up a 3rd catcher. For the love of God, our former leader of player development is on the shortest of buses.3 points

Vargas's WAR this season: 1.7. Those other guys combined: 0.7. what r u scratching your head about, Fedde has a 5 ERA and is expiring, Kopech doesn't play and is expiring, and Pham is just some guy3 points

His motion and him having to dial it down a bit, I just can't see him having the same success but it certainly is possible2 points

Whenever I think of Getz working that Fedde, Kopech, Pham trade, I imagine Getz as Jack in “Jack and the Beanstalk” and trading his livelihood for the magic beans (Vargas).2 points

seems as though he's the only one putting other posters down. I would certainly be curious about his knowledge of the Bible because I think I took the "Christian perspective". It's also just a baseball game, but that guy Kershaw fundamentally misinterpreted scripture in order to be hateful to people. He should be more critical of divorce, the New Testament and Jesus specifically is much more clear about that. These Christians should try to act more like Jesus, frankly.2 points

he's a hall of famer, but he's done and he's a douche. sox are kicking him out before the 5th inning tonight.2 points

A salary cap would require the owners to open their book on revenues and requires a fix spend. From all analysis ive done on this impact, it would benefit the players. That said, because the union is disproportionately representing the unions biggest earners, it wouldn't surprise me if this is a battle. Generally speaking though a cap comes with a floor and it greatly helps the mid-level/avg player at the expense of a few guys not being able to push the billionaire status. Im highly skeptical ownership actually wants that though given that they're currently paying the lowest share of revenues to players among the major sports exactly because they dont have a cap.2 points

I do check out box score just to familiarize myself with some of the name since we hear about them signing them it's pretty quiet until they actually play. So even though I probably won't comment much on DSL and ACL games I do appreciate the quick and easy access to the box scores. 🙂2 points

Not being one of those who just complain and try to bash Getz, but really having some optimism for the future. I would say (right now, at this very point in their development) in Vargas, Teel, Meidorth, healthy Tauchman, and Quero; that the Sox have five position players better than anyone they had on the entire roster last year (Well, maybe not a healthy Benitendi).2 points

Konnor Griffin climbs all the way to #2, and I cry on the inside. Hagen slips to 78, but Caleb Bonemer is 71. Schultz (24), Teel (35), Braden (53) are the other White Sox on the list.2 points

He's getting close to his high in innings. Probably has never had a workload like this. Hopefully it's just a wall he's hit and not the league figuring him out. 16 ER last 11 IP.2 points

Just two of us, forcing my wife to go up to Chicago for the weekend lol That is typically what I do most of the time. Just not sure which game to go to at this point. We come in Thursday evening and leave Sunday morning so not sure if I want to go to a late afternoon game which would basically take up the whole day by the time we get back to the city. Weather looks pretty decent so far for an afternoon game especially if we get shaded seats.2 points

Vargas, Tauchman, Slater… Their stats are dropping as fast as Robert’s desire to play baseball for the White Sox.2 points

Sosa for Bell still gets my shorts in a bunch as well as the aforementioned deals. While every team has this type stuff in their annals, the Sox have perfected the art.2 points
-
Rodriguez threw another 4 IP scoreless (and hitless) today, so that's up to 18.2IP, 17K, and .069 average against.2 points

You said Vargas was hot for 50 games this season. Does that outweigh his larger sample size of his Dodgers days, his time with the White Sox last season, along with the 33 games this season that you referenced? Not in my book. Also, I’m not sure how guys like Bart and Canario have anything to do with this discussion considering they would have been near free acquisitions and served as bench players, not a full-time starter like Vargas that trade value was used to acquire. But please show me my post where I called Bart and Canario potential hall-of-famers.1 point

It’s funny how when a player’s traditional stats are mediocre, people jump to WAR. And we have yet to see if he’s actually a 3 WAR player. The dude is back to his usual slumping self. Vargas, Rojas, Slater, Taylor… Second worst record in baseball… Yes, let me praise The Great Wizard GM Getz. 🥱 If you can magically trade Vargas for a top 100 prospect, go for it.1 point

Excuse me, reading is an art form. I was commenting on Bell's TOTAL RBI's for both the 92 and 93 seasons when I made the chopped liver comment. "Generational talent?" Sosa had that potential but at the time he was turning into the head case he'd later clearly show with the Cubs and again bottom line he wasn't getting along with Hriniak who correctly had more say in the organization than a player who was basically a rookie in 1990-91. Sosa was a fraud and a liar, end of story.1 point

The fact that teams have to hire capologists is one of those things that I find highly amusing.1 point

When Pham left the Sox he was one of the team’s best hitters. .266 BA, .710 OPS. This year he’s doing poorly, .230/.601 but still better than players such as Brooks Baldwin and sadly, Don Luis. When Fedde left the Sox he was the team’s best performing pitcher. 7-4 with a 3.11 ERA, 4.6 WAR. He may not regain that form, but if we’re talking potential value… Last year with the Dodgers Kopech went 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA. This year he’s pitched 7 innings with an ERA of 0. Currently he’s on the IL with right knee inflammation. Kopech still should be an ace. For them, we got Vargas. I hope Vargas matures into a top player, but so far the trade still looks lopsided to me.1 point

3 WAR is an above average player. Vargas was a top 40 prospect, and we're starting to see why. He pretends Vargas isn't a promising player because that would destroy his narrative that everything Getz does sucks.1 point
-
but why is the question "why didn't we get a superstar back for a some objectively mediocre players?" Vargas is seemingly better than any of those guys and is also under contract for a while. I dunno why you don't think he's a promising player. the current pace is still like 3 WAR, is that not, at least, "average"?1 point

Statcast has 5 hits on 53 balls in play to the opposite field (.094 AVG). For comparison, .385 BA and .792 SLG when he pulls the ball.1 point

"Miguel Vargas’s batting average on balls hit to the opposite field in MLB is .125 (12 hits in 152 at‑bats)." I asked the chatgpt and its source was MLB.com1 point

Sosa wasn't getting along with Walt Hriniak, the Sox hitting coach and as history has shown his "transformation" is an embarrassment the Sox didn't need. It's unfortunate, he had talent, in 1990 he was the only player in baseball to record double figures in doubles, triples, home runs, stolen bases and outfield assists. He had the makings of a five-tool player but all he wanted to do was try to hit home runs. Oh and regarding Bell he drove in 112 RBI's in 92 and 64 in 102 games in 93...not exactly chopped liver.1 point

Eh I don't know what kind of announcers you're expecting for a bad team and jaded fanbase. We're at the point that no matter what, we whine about everything. There is no pleasing , placating, nor soothing us. Is there such an announcer that exists for this fan base that would be universally accepted as decent ? ".Here's the pitch Vaughn hits a ground ball to short for the 50th time this season . The Shortstop could run the ball over to 1st base and still get Vaughn out. Good Lord he's slow. Sit your ass down. Why are you even in the lineup ? Why you even on the team. What is Venable thinking ? What was Getz thinking ? What in heavens name is Reinsdorf doing ? That brings up Louis Robert who is 0 for 4 with 3 K's. He used to be La Pantera. Now he's just a p****... cat. Why can't we have nice things ? Meowww. "1 point

The DSL Sox threw a (7 inning) no hitter and won 5-1. They did have 8 BBs and a HBP though, the latter of which came around to score.1 point
