  1. Not sure im seeing what you both are. His xwOBA is actually slightly higher than his actual. Nothing flukey about his performance or output in my opinion. If anything, he's been incredibly unlucky running a 226 BABIP. While he wont run an iso of 314 more than likely, he also wont run a 226 babip. He's also been a +++ defender. Kid is a 4+ WAR player with just the power and defense.

  2. In 2012 they didn't draw 2 million fans after being in first place much of the season. They did a marketing research and and it showed how expensive it was to come to a White Sox game. They were charging Wrigley Field prices. Since then they have lowered the prices on alot of things. They have family Sundays, discounted food on Tuesdays. They've made it more affordable for the average person. You won't go broke going to a White Sox game like you do at Wrigley Field. In 2022 the White Sox drew over 2 million fans with a team that won only 81 games. There never going to draw like the Cubs do, but they will draw decently with a winning team.

  5. That clinches the season series too with win #7 vs. the Twins. Tomorrow will come down to whether they can get to Taj Bradley for the third time in 4 starts. Such a weird situation for him lol, will probably be relieved to be done with the Sox regardless of how it goes.

  8. Baldwin is trying to learn 7 positions, of course there are going to be growing pains. Stick him at one position and I'm sure he'd look better, but that defeats the purpose of his versatility. I don't know why we are complaining a rookie being used as a swiss army knife isn't a gold glover everywhere he plays.

  10. Frank Thomas is one of the 25 or so greatest hitters of all time and a top 50 type all time player. Comparing him to anybody else in the world is going to be a tough ask. Colson has 2.3 bWAR so far. That is really good for a 22nd overall pick. Check out the overall results so far from that first round, he's near the top with a lot of busts so far. https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/index.fcgi?year_ID=2021&draft_round=1&draft_type=junreg&query_type=year_round

  11. His performance so far, extrapolated out to about 590 plate appearances, puts him on pace for 63 HRs. Obviously, he's not going to hit 63 HRs in a season, but 35+ is realistic. Along with improving (and already good) defense, he'll be a very valuable player. Of course, it's all about health, health, health.

  12. Robertson was DFA by the Blue Jays in July and the Sox acquired him for cash considerations. Benintendi is not even a 1.0 bWAR player due to his poor defense and still mediocre bat. His high priced salary is what makes him not worth his performance.

  13. Sure, this video could be nitpicked to death and most of the stories are more than familiar to '70s Sox fans, but overall pretty entertaining, and the jacket "mystery" gives it a unique angle. Video

  18. It'll be a long slog to win back market share in Chicago, that's for sure. The new owners will have their work cut out for them (both on and off the field) and the Cubs aren't going anywhere as far as attracting fans goes. The one thing that irked me about the 2012 attendance numbers is that some of JR's mouthpieces went public with "attendance shaming" Sox fans for not supporting the team enough even when they won. I'm thinking of Don Cooper, specifically. Typical Reinsdorf PR blunder and "blame the fans" mindset that we've been dealing with since 1981. The next owners can start off by realizing the fans are NOT the problem. Sox fans are as loyal and diehard as anyone. As @WBWSF noted, making games affordable to families will help. The good news is that the Ishbias have offered affordable concessions at Suns games. Something like that would be a good start. But IMO, they'll have to do more than just make the Sox a discount alternative to the Cubs if they want to be more than an afterthought in this city.

  20. Everyone you mentioned outside of Fuller has been around for the Cease, Santos, Mena, and Booser trades. They've let Robert's value atrophy to hell. Those have all been bad (Santos and Mena may have aged poorly themselves, but at the time of trades, has much higher value. Crochet and Slater are good. The rest are either washes or wait and see.

  21. I think this needs to be pinned to this thread. Not trying to rain on the parade. His power has been incredible and overall it’s been a very impressive debut, but it could/will get ugly really fast and then we’ll start getting the “bust” comments again. Fortunately he’s getting valuable experience and has time and room for much more growth.

  22. https://www.si.com/mlb/guardians/opinion/mike-clevingers-actions-have-severely-complicated-his-place-in-the-indians-clubhouse The guy isn’t good enough to be worth his issues. Yet, the Sox keep signing him.

  25. 200+ makes it seem longer. But they've lost a f*** ton of games the past 2 years, haven't they Missed this one, watched the first two innings in replay, probably not gonna finish it. Shoutout the Twin Taylors. Shoutout Brooks, he's been great since they recalled him.

  27. Are you really going to continue to argue with me when I am literally providing you with the evidence you requested? Considering Clevinger has been signed by the Sox for the past three straight seasons (and not just in 2025), the incident wasn’t that long before the Sox initially signed him. Also, my post that you are contesting was that Clevinger “has had both issues with previous teammates and women.” Here is more evidence for you since you are apparently too lazy to look it up for yourself — both a teammate and his manager at the time calling him out in quotes below. I’m sure you already know about his “troubles” with women so I don’t need to rehash that as well, right? Why anyone would feel the need to defend this guy is hilarious. He’s a crappy person and he’s an equally crappy pitcher these days, but you do you I guess… https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29655827/indians-zach-plesac-says-mike-clevinger-unfairly-cast-bad-people-covid-violation

  36. Burke had a 6IP/3ER quality start with 7K for Charlotte, but got outdueled by Robby Snelling. He gave up 2 solo shots, but both were of the ~340ft Charlotte variety. More importantly, no walks. Lucas Gordon quietly promoted to AA, and had a decent outing. 5IP, 0ER, 2H, 3BB, 4K.

  39. You don’t even need to use new stats. A mediocre bat with bad defense just isn’t worth much. Right now, Sosa is basically the infield version of Benintendi. Sosa is also going to hit 20 homers but his defense is so bad he’s only at a 0.7 bWAR, just shy of Benintendi’s. But at least Sosa is still young, can improve, and isn’t overpaid. Meanwhile, Benintendi was terrible in his first season with the Sox, was a bit better last season due to a hot second half, and is now having his best season in a Sox uniform, which is still mediocre. Betting on him to continue to improve in his 32 and 33 year old seasons would not be a bet I’d be willing to take. But we get to find out anyways, all while paying him $31 million over the 2026 and 2026 seasons. The proof that Benintendi has little value is that no team would trade for him unless the Sox picked up a huge portion of his remaining contract, and I’m not so sure a team would even be interested in him if the Sox did indeed include a bunch of cash. The Sox would no doubt love to move him if possible, as we have seen rumors in the past that they would be willing to include cash to trade him. It hasn’t come to fruition, likely because no other team wants him even at a discount.

  40. Indian reservation. Pretty much the previous status quo. It seemed fine to me. It was hard to actually get a chance to gamble (harder to be addicted) and it was a good source of economic development for the tribes who did it. Like a really good one.

  43. Shafted would be him performing well, not getting called up when the need arose, and the Sox not letting him seek opportunity elsewhere. But none of that happened. He sucked, and even admits it. Total non-story.

  44. Looks good for both teams, but who can really say? Crochet could get injured, Montgomery could bust, etc. All four players performing at the major league level would make it a big success...but Crochet is one of the best pitchers, if not the best, in the league for a while if he doesn't get hurt. I think as it stands, both teams got what they were looking for. I liked it at the time and still do. Really like Teel, but didn't love getting another catcher because Quero might end up a better hitter and neither guy looks like an elite defender/game caller. Plus Korey Lee is more than serviceable as a backup. I liked Mayer and obviously Anthony as the 'big' piece. Getting Anthony would've been a huge steal whereas Mayer probably would've been an overpay (Kyle is at .779 OPS in 205 PA, Mayer at .674 in 136 and keeps getting injured). I might've wanted Bleis too, but he's had a really tough year, .550 OPS at AA. Getting Braden was awesome and I don't think Boston knew what they had with him. Still could bust, but I think he's going to show out like his brother from another mother, Colson. Wanted to draft him in the first place. His injury was overblown and I think we got a steal there. Meidroth and Gonzalez were basically just 'some guys' but really nice tertiary pieces. Meidroth has been up and down but has been better defensively than expected and still looks like a potential leadoff hitter. At worst, utility infielder who puts the ball in play and actually looks very good at both SS and 2B. tbh, I don't think it would have been crazy to send him down at some point or even start him at AAA next season depending on how spring training goes. His command of the strike zone hasn't been as good as advertised. Wikelman has also been pretty good in limited time. He's looked better in MLB than in the minors which is interesting. That seems true of several Sox players. I think he'll start striking more people out, his stuff looks good, but the walks are a little scary. All in all, I like the trade and I'm happy Garrett is doing well!

  45. While both teams are probably really happy, the White Sox got 4 players, three of which are contributing to the ML roster and the other is flying up the prospect rankings. Whenever you can trade 1 player you have no intentions to keep for 4 players who will be here for several years it’s a massive win.

  46. Yeah, he's at 1.7 WAR, and he had a pretty bad start to the year. He's on pace for about 16 HRs and 37 2Bs, with an improving glove. And again that's including his bad start. Definitely not a bench player
