Gets to retire at Nationals Stadium where he first made a name for himself.7 points

Hey guys thanks for keeping me company over the season. I appreciate you all even tho we don't always agree. Hope the off season brings us some better hope. Have a good off season guys. I'll peak in once in a while. Again thanks! And stay safe7 points

Dude's a consummate professional, and had a bunch of clutch hits. I'm sure he set a good example for the youngsters. I wish him well in his retirement.6 points

Im going glass half full on this one. Winning on the road is not easy in the NFL, no matter the opponent. And winning in general hasn’t come easy to the Bears lately, so you take any W you can. They got a lot of s%*# to clean up, but a lot of guys need to get healthy too. Bye is coming at a great time for them. We’ve just seen too many of these games where the Bears are on the losing side of it. Feels good to be on the other side of one of them4 points

No one should view that 60 win mark as progress. Getz’ 2nd full year was a game worse than the team he took over. 2025 on its own gets many GM’s fired. 102 losses is really bad.4 points

Let me second that. Gamethreads are not everyone's cup of tea and some people just do not like tea, but for me they are very entertaining even when the product on the field is not.4 points

It's cool that it happens where it started for him. Probably makes it more emotional.4 points

Its funny how Getz gets no blame for Sox performance because he wasnt in charge and inherited the mess.... supposedly. Yet Stearns didnt sign 95% of the players on the 400 million dollar payroll, yet he's responsible for all of it. In fact, in 2024 Stearns barely spent much money but made some good moves and got the team to the NLCS in his first season at the helm. This year, he signed Soto and Clay Holmes and that's basically it. Extended Pete for 2 years. Stearns = responsible for everything that happened before he arrived, took team to NLCS in year one but is called a failure. Getz = not responsible for anything prior and basically not responsible for any outcomes today, even though hes actually been with the org the entire time, and he's overseen one of the worst stretches in MLB history. Hilarious the mental gymnastics people will go through here. Adding: also funny how Milwaukee continuing on successfully is somehow a negative for Stearns instead of an indicator that he built a well functioning machine that wasn't predicated on the presence of one person.4 points

Dude you are so negative about everything. Caleb is getting killed all day, doesn’t have both of his starting tackles against Crosby and still has managed to pull them back with 1:34 left3 points

Yeah but every time the season ends a part of me just gets down. No matter how bad the team is. I mean last year was probably the exception3 points

Pretty sure nobody has considered the possibility of a multi-level parking infrastructure, judging by the way that people here talk about precious precious parking lots.3 points

Vargas puts us up 2-0 with a bomb, 16 homers and a nice even 60 RBI, who would have thunk it after last season. BTW, Do any of you know that Vargas made a swing change early on in the season.3 points

And Getz had a massive hand in that smoking wreckage that he “inherited”.3 points

I would argue that KW had a hand in acquiring/developing every one of those players except Thomas.3 points

I still feel like Brooks could be our version of Ben Zobrist...maybe not as good...or half as good...but that AAAA kind of player who figures it out in his mid 20s and plays every position. Zobrist gave the Devil Rays -0.6 WAR and -1.1 WAR in his first MLB seasons at age 25 and 26. His defense is very puzzling but he has some surprising power and pretty much came out of no where. 15th rounder who OPS'd .548 as a 21-year-old in rookie/a ball...then made massive strides in A/A+ and AA/AAA. His path to MLB is an impressive one to me and I bet he could continue to get better. That dog in him or whatever. I don't think he's gonna produce a 9 WAR season like Zobrist did, but I think he could be a pretty good regular. I bet he keeps improving.3 points

I really hope Baldwin is part of the 2026 plans for the White Sox and I’m not talking about a spot player. Give him a position somewhere in the outfield and put his name in the lineup every day! Am i off on this?2 points

If anyone doesn't see 2025 as a positive then I don't know what to tell ya. Sox were 31-43 for a .419 winning percentage since July 4th which is the date Colson Montgomery came up and all the young players started playing together I shouldn't have to explain with how well the young guys looked offensively with even more on the way up next year. Shane Smith becoming a mid rotation guy as a rule 5 pick is incredible. Davis Martin is a solid back end guy. Taylor, Leasure, Gonzalez, Vasil (another rule 5 guy) all excelling. The holes are obvious on this team for next year, but this season was definitely a positive development because of who won these games.2 points

He made $27.4 million, I'd consider that generational wealth. I'd imagine he would at least take a good amount of time off with his wife and 2 young kids2 points

Goodbye 2025 season . Hopefully you will be remembered as the year that started the careers of 4 future All Stars and as the 1st step on the path to a new era of baseball. You young fans have a great era of Sox baseball to look forward to. We will have the best owner in White Sox history, which isnt a large mountain to climb.2 points

I am with you and do not understand the admiration for him here....his ceiling is a utility infielder at best. His defense is also overrated.2 points

I’m not gonna argue that the end was not a smoldering wreckage, but KW ran a successful minor league system and transitioned to the major leagues using that same minor league system to create the 2005 WS winning team. You provided the names of those players, I only pointed out that he helped the team acquire and develop those players. Getz had the same position as KW and there is very little we can point to in his time frame running the minors that resembles the success that KW enjoyed. He didn’t graduate to GM with a Carlos Lee or Magglio or even an Aaron Rowand. We saw none of that.2 points

Briefly thought Fletcher was getting applause for a double and thought the Nats fans were vicious. But that was cool for Taylor.2 points

I saw on twitter he also needs 4 PA to get the last level of his incentive bonus, so nice of the Sox to start him today.2 points

It’s pretty cool that he can end it where it started. Since it makes no big difference right now, I hope he gets the start. He played on some pretty good Nats teams and got his ring with them, that’s pretty special2 points

Counterpoint: Kenny Williams took over a team that already had Ordonez, Thomas, Konerko, Carlos Lee with Joe Crede on the way. That’s a Hall of Famer, two franchise players, an All Star and an above average regular. Getz inherited the smoking wreckage of a failed rebuild in Anderson, Moncada, Jimenez, and Robert. Kind of a big difference.2 points

Playing competitive games is all you can ask for as a fan. It's something we've been denied most of the last 20 years. It's hard to care too much about Colson's accomplishments or Garrett's last year in the face of so many losses. In a way it robs both fans and players of the bond that should be created over time.1 point
