Yeah, and there are plenty more roster spots where those came from.4 points

I always like Naylor as a player, and finding out he stole 30 bases with the 2nd slowest sprint speed in MLB, made me appreciate him even more, but there is no way that body ages well.4 points

1. Vaughn was key in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs. 2. Civale pitched innings as the young starters became tired. 3. Vaughn was important in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs. 4. Most people just wanted to dump or DFA Vaughn anyway. 5. Vaughn was crucial in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs 6. Civale was a veteran guide for the young Sox pitching staff. 7. Vaughn was clutch in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs. 8. The Sox were able to flip Civale for a prospect. 9. Vaughn was instrumental in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs. 10. The Sox only had to pay a small portion of Civale's salary. 11. Vaughn was essential in the Brewers eliminating the Cubs. My two favorite teams: The White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.3 points

Did you just mix and match first and last names of former A’s players, or are those actual members of the White Sox?3 points

Whew. A bit worried for a while that they might have to expose Curtis Mead, Derek Hill or Ben Cowles.3 points

On a serious note, there was a lot of bitching and moaning about Raleigh over Judge for MVP. Raleigh has continued to lead his team in every way in this playoffs, he absolutely deserves it3 points

That was an intense game, can’t believe they pulled it off. Weather looked nasty so I understand the nerves of just running heavy to go for a FG. I know people love broadcast talk, but Jesus that was a ridiculous broadcast. Aikman lecturing Caleb about fumbling a bad snap on 3rd and 1 (that he recovered) then not saying anything about Daniels doing the same. Ridiculous night2 points

Fun win. I despise the Washington deadskins, foreskins, commanders whatever they are. They can all piss the hell off. Lost to those bastards twice in the 80s on a way to a Super Bowl. Hawks win, Bears win, Sox did not lose. To quote Ice Cube, today was a good day.2 points

So isn’t this proof that the Sox aren’t actually “losing money” as has been stated in other threads? They just aren’t making the revenue that they expected or want. Hence the slashing of payroll to Marlins levels. Will be interesting to see the 2025 revenue numbers.2 points

My favorite part of this was Vaughn talking about going into his 4th year, and Konerko saying something like "welp, if you don't get it this year you probably won't ever get it"2 points

I lean to #1 more than #2, but it also wouldn't shock me if #2 is true in the longer run.2 points

I do love that everyone agrees that we should not have kept Vaughn, but there are two distinct camps forming: 1) Should not have kept him because he was not going to flourish with this organization, let alone turn into a key bat for an LCS team that helped bury their rival in the regular and postseason. 2) No we shouldn't have kept him because he sucked, still sucks, will always suck, this is just an aberration and Tyler Osik was correct.2 points

No manager seemed to benefit more from amphetamines and steroids than TLR. lol he managed some all time juicers2 points

I love how facing an offseason where Josh Naylor is a north star that will be talked about ad nauseum, fans are given a choice to live in an alternate reality where we went after impactful players, and are instead like "No thanks, I'll stick with Naylor chief"2 points

I love everyone destroying PCA too. Such an unlikeable player and it was one full display for the national audience.2 points

Exactly. F the Cubs and all that they stand for. It's wild some people think Sox fans should root for the Cubs and visa versa. You don't see Yankee fans rooting for the Mets do you? Or Dodger fans rooting for the Angels? It doesn't work that way folks. You pick your side, pitch your tent and that's it.2 points

I think given how bad Vaughn was here, this was the best possible outcome. He was never gonna bring us back anything valuable, so why not help ends the Cubs season.2 points
-
He criticized Caleb for everything, it was bizarre. Daniels had a pick and a fumble and you never would have known it1 point

Combined record of those teams is 15-6. For how many yards we give up, we basically need to get turnovers to win.1 point

Refs really tried to f*** us in this game. I think there were like 3 penalties that nullified a stop on 3rd down. The illegal formation on the TD, the OPI on Loveland, the offsides on DJ were all calls a lot of crews easily let go. It felt like they were looking for penalties to call. This crew had the highest amount of penalties called coming into the game. They really wanted to add onto their lead.1 point

If they win on Sunday, I think they’ll get aggressive in trying to get a pass rusher in here. Because they aren’t going anywhere with the lack of pressure they are currently generating. But the DB’s are solid, even without the best player on the team in JJ, they desperately need “that guy” to be a game wrecker up front.1 point

In DC they’re known as the Commies. NU also with a nice win as a 20 point underdog. Makes up for the Illini and yeah, the Cubs for we who were rooting for Chicago.1 point

They don’t come close to winning this game under Flus, that’s the 2nd W this year that you can see the coaching had a lot to do with it1 point

CAN NOT be setting up for a 45+ field goal with Moody in the wind and rain. This is dumb. GO FOR IT.1 point

Refs tonight have really been calling ridiculous penalties on Bears and nothing on Washington. Every positive play a flag is thrown.1 point

Low hit on Daniels by Brisker, would have ended the drive. Brisker was pushed from behind but wrapped the knees1 point

Brisker went low, but I thought the Wash guy pushed him to make him do that. Anything close, the Bears won't get.1 point

Some people thought that Hahn And Getz had the qualifications to be the GM. How has that turned out? I never viewed MLB as rocket science. I think some fan like myself would do a decent job as the GM. If I was the GM and turned out as bad as Hahn and Getz have been I would resign.1 point

Just like everyone in the original post, even more roster detritus from our GM.1 point

I'm more jealous than bitter about the Cubs - they still have a decent farm and free agents will play for them1 point

We're still debating whether we Sox fans should give him a B for playing a good game of checkers. My guess is that the 4D chess with Vaughn is a total one-off thing.1 point

See that's the problem. TLR should've gotten Eloy Robert and Moncada on the good stuff. Definitely some HGH to help with muscle recovery.1 point

My two favorite teams?.................. The White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.1 point

There's not much evidence he and Dave Stewart did a good job in AZ a decade+ ago. Summarily fired. Same with the Angels for TLR...1 point
