Would prefer to trade neither for now, but I'd rather see Quero go instead of Teel if one of them is going.5 points

Thanks! Well I’m not a beat reporter or Jeff Passan. Just a fan. I hadn’t seen anyone in the Sox community write about Okamoto and thought people would be interested.4 points

I'd rather have someone who can play 90% of the time (position player) than Quero, a catcher who can only play 50% of the time. His bat isn't good enough to be a DH, and I prefer Teel by quite a bit.4 points

Is there a forced retired list? Like Getz could be like f*** you, you’re retiring now!3 points

Don't forget the two Smiths. Opponents can't use scouting reports if they can't keep up with who's who out there...2 points

I’m getting Cam Booser PTSD but at least this guy is significantly younger.2 points

It’s very disjointed. Her entire schtick is to tell people that she already talked about something happening. Harris is very mid. I love Grote, always have because he is just a funny guy to me, but he was thrown into the mix to save it and it’s not happening. Tough to see this show continuing through another year, I can’t imagine their numbers are good2 points

The Harris-Rahimi show is just bad. Was driving last two days and it’s just not a good listen.2 points

I think a seat at the kids' table would be a step up for the Sox. Our seat is out in back, near the dumpster.2 points

Imai Murakami and Okamoto are all well out of their price range. We might get another bargain basement deal out of the KBO, but not if it requires a two year contract. One year with team or mutual options for 2027. Fluffy pieces about possible interest in a free agent who will receive at the very least a three year deal are not worth anyone's time either....not unless they actually get a signed contract as we learned with 2 ESPN headlines about Machado being close to signing.2 points

This looks like a garbage trade but my guess is that the Orioles are just sick of Rodriguez’s injuries and probably think he can’t hold up at all. Our old friends at Orioles Hangout think it’s a horrible trade as well and are calling it the worst move of Elias’s tenure.1 point

How can that be all they get for Grayson1 point

The team with no pitching, trades pitching. Interesting1 point

"The Crochet trade turned this organization around..." Ummm...yes, if we're the quasi Titanic, except much more low profile.1 point

Not really shocked about Adams but no Pallette seems odd.1 point

Getzy is gonna make a bunch of little trades in a day or two and then go into hibernation and pray for that #1 pick.1 point

"As I thought of what to write for today, our fearless leader Andrew Mearns suggested I do a deep dive on someone who I believe to be the most divisive prospect in the Yankees’ farm system: Everson Pereira. Pereira signed in 2017 as an international amateur out of Venezuela for $1.5 million and was lauded at the time for his plus athleticism, sensational bat speed which translated to in-game power, and defensive ability in center field. Unfortunately, we’ve been robbed of opportunities to scout Pereira over a full season, as he’s never played more than 110 games in a season. There have been some freak injuries mixed in with more typical, muscular ailments – especially of late. While injuries have undoubtedly robbed Pereira of vital reps, he’s now accrued just under 1,500 plate appearances in his minor-league career." https://www.pinstripealley.com/2024/5/3/24147815/yankees-analysis-everson-pereira-prospect-top-hit-tool-scouting-whiff-power-athleticism-maddening This was written BEFORE the 2024 season btw. Pereira has slowed slightly as he has added muscle but still possesses solid speed and makes the most of it. He can steal an occasional base and covers ground in center field with his quickness and instincts. If he has to move to a corner, he has the power and solid arm strength to profile well in right field. AI profile1 point

I think you nailed it, but Murphy’s age versus Booser’s and what Getz gave up for Booser makes this move much less bad.1 point
-
Unlike the Booser trade where they stupidly gave up a live arm for a bum, I don’t care about this one since I don’t think Hernandez does anything. But Murphy’s ERA this past season was purely reliever small sample size luck. K rate wasn’t good for a reliever and he had a high walk rate.1 point
-
Absolutely have to keep both. The catcher position is prone to injuries, they can’t afford to trade one of these catchers, only to see the other one get hurt.1 point
-
I think there is a difference between maybe a starter, and an established starter, and that's why he doesn't get moved. That's where the "selling low" idea comes in. It is shorthand for the difference.1 point

Torres and Woodruff are relevant for draft as club would have received comp pick after 1st round pushing Sox 2nd pick backwards. As it stands only Dbacks (Gallen) will get comp pick after 1st. Then Cubs (Tucker) and Astros (Valdez) will get comp picks after 2nd round; all the rest that rejected were luxury tax payers so comp picks after the 4th?1 point

Looking at this from an acquiring team standpoint, are you willing to pay a starting catcher price for a guy who has his level of experience and success? If teams are not, I am not sure why Getz would be willing to deal him at a price of a part timer, or unproven player.1 point
-
+1 to this. Unless a Sox prospect or Sosa/Vargas both become big time sluggers (and absolutely can't learn LF) and force the issue, I don't see any point in giving up on the Teel/Quero/Lee depth.1 point
-
I think he's better than how he performed. I think he did good but he's more valuable than "good".1 point
-
That's my contention. Quero's played half a season in the bigs and held his own, offensively. Robo-umps take away his biggest drawback, and if a team doesn't think they can teach a first year catcher how to block better, they should sign Grandal. Quero's a top prospect who hasn't been exposed by MLB pitching. 6 years of control of what looks like a solid starter. That's not "selling low".1 point

You also have to get someone to offer you a full time starter for him. I am guessing that is what they are waiting for.1 point

Well, to be fair, all his article says is that the Sox had scouts looking at Okamoto. I ran the article through Google Translate and he isn’t embellishing. Here’s the key excerpt below. Now does that mean the Sox will sign him, especially when the other scouts were from legit spending teams like the Yankees, Phillies, and Blue Jays? I sure wouldn’t bet my left nut on it… “On this day, representatives from several teams, including the Yankees, Phillies, Padres, Angels, Blue Jays, and White Sox, were watching from behind the backstop at Tokyo Dome.”1 point
