  1. Getz made similar "happy to have him" comments last offseason and obviously did end up holding on to Robert despite the trade chatter at that time. Folks here said he was being disingenuous and would "obviously" take whatever he could get before ST ended, and here we are a full season + $20 million option later. Is he available? Obviously...for some yet to be met price. But nothing about this saga so far contradicts the idea that they are fine with keeping him if the alternative is giving him away. If they were desperate to move him for any return, he'd be gone for an A-ball pitcher and a lottery ticket IFA already. If they just wanted him gone entirely, they don't pick up the option. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that they are actually content to keep Robert if they can't get a return they like, because they have repeatedly demonstrated that to be the case.

  2. Nothing because he'd be low risk. This would be a good add who has had a few decent seasons.

  3. I love this trade for the cums. It was a big load to give up but they had to make a splash.

  4. This is true. There should be a balance there. I just think once you start calling the game with too much of your heart than your head (i.e. always leaning the Sox way on 50-50 calls), you start getting into the Schriffen territory of thinking you can sell a product to fans that isn't actually there.

  5. People are taking way too simplistic of a view on this. They are certainly right in saying we have failed to cash in on Robert for two straight years. And I fully get the skepticism that the third will be the charm. However, Robert went through some drastic changes last year and may have turned a corner with the bat. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s injury prone, but with half a season’s time it could address the other element that has impacted his value which is being a bad hitter. Not saying the juice will be worth the squeeze ultimately, but the calculus is arguably different now than it was a year ago if you believe in his improvements. All this being said, I’m not sure I see a better use of his $20M next year that doesn’t involve a significant long-term contract that Jerry won’t permit. I’d rather roll the dice on Robert one last time, try to build some momentum with the positional group, and see where things stand in July. If someone is willing give up real value for him right now, I’d certainly accept that offer. But based on what have seen and heard so far this offseason, teams don’t appear to be willing to pay up for 2nd half Robert (or 75% of that guy) even if we include cash. As such, we likely need to hold and hope he can be both healthy and productive.

  6. Schriffin acts like balls 75 feet from the wall are going over. If you don't think Jason has depth perception, what do you call the Schriff's calls?

  7. Benetti may be better at announcing football and basketball than baseball but the only thing Schriffen is better at than Benetti is SlamBall, and that’s only because Benetti has never covered it. You mention that Benetti’s “careerism” impacts the number of Sox games he can call, but mention nothing about our other broadcaster nearing retirement with only one gig who takes off numerous games and rarely even makes west coast trips. You also seem to be annoyed that Benetti wasn’t a complete and utter Sox homer like Schriffen who was constantly trying to tell us that a 100+ loss team was so good, even when they were setting the MLB loss record. That was simply delusional and makes it appear that he thinks Sox fans are complete and utter morons. Finally, how many moronic basic baseball questions does Schriffen posit to Stone each season? You would likely lose count of tracking them after a couple games. If you did a drinking game around it you would be hammered by the 7th inning.

  9. Huh. And I was told guys like him and Yoan just stopped caring after they got their big contracts. It's almost like they have a competitive nature and a passion to keep playing the game.

  10. What an atrocious savant page too. Outside of the elite GB% it's A LOT of blue... and even that seems like a huge outlier compared to the rest of his career.

  11. Viciedo actually had a very successful career overseas. But I wouldn't even worry over Eloy's career. He made a lot of money for doing a whole lot of nothing in the majors.

  13. The last 10: 21. RHP Gage Ziehl 22. LHP Blake Larson 23. RHP Jairo iriarte 24. C Landon Hodge 25. SS Jacob Gonzalez 26. RHP Luis Reyes 27. RHP Gabe Davis 28. LHP Shane Murphy 29. RHP Yobal Rodriguez 30. IF Matthew Boughton Top 5 are all 55+ grades (65 for Noah, 60 for Bones) but mostly high risk (other than Montgomery who is average risk). In the "adjusted grade" which accounts for risk, the top 5 stays the same but McDougal moves into a tie with Carlson to join the upper tier. Gonna see if there's anything new or of note in the writeups...

  14. What a weird take. If you’re not sure, you should be a homer and believe every call is the Sox way?

  15. You could just pretend he’s traded while he”s injured, and hitting .185 into June.

  16. I'm a LuBob fanboy to be sure, but I think he could be a part of this team on a new deal even if continues to hit, like, .680 OPS. His glove is too good and CF is too important of a defensive position. There's no clear replacement for him in the system. I like Ely Brown, but he's a 12th rounder who may or may not be up to the task, akin to Duke Ellis. If Marcelo Alcala keeps up the good work, maybe he's the guy, but he's only 19. We might hope to have a center fielder prior to 2030. Trent Grisham might be the only realistic FA option in 2027 to fill CF and I'm not sure I'd trust him to maintain his production. You wouldn't want to pay him $20mil for his recent level of production and injury history, but I like him a lot better than Cedric Mullins at $7mil for example. Not many center fielders have his tools and ceiling.

  17. Yeah, now that the Sox have the *checks notes* 4th lowest payroll in baseball after the Murakami signing, they must really be all-in!

  18. He's a Svengali, manipulating everybody he encounters - while being too dumb to make the correct statement to the press. Like threading two needles, miles away from each other, with the same camel. Only one group of clever posters can decipher the deception. The rest of us are smitten. If you'll excuse me, I have some real property to transfer over to GetzCo. I don't know why. I just do.

  19. You used the word lie or lying 5 times in this post when referring to Getz over trading a player as if you arent fully aware that GM's and agents all dont partake in some kind of manipulative word games as part of off season rhetoric. You show way more disdain for Getz with your sarcastic blast at anything you perceive as pro Getz with your Oz reference and pretentious use of "lying" than Eddy ever shows in trying to protray a fair picture of the Sox front office. Let's just call a spade a spade . This is all about continuing the narrative that Getz is a villain and ignoring that there has been quite a bit of others buying into what Getz is trying to build . He isn't some Svengali although you seem to revel in portraying him as such.

  20. I agree. Its a game and deception is part of it. Using words like Getz is lying or Getz is a liar is more inflamatory and more Anti Getz than anything you say that people perceive as pro Getz. We should all be Pro what's best for the White Sox and it's my understanding that Getz and his staff are doing their best under trying financial restraints. Let's not pretend that there's anything more sinister going on here besides an owner extremely cognizant of preparing the team to be sold so his heirs make as much money as possible after his death.

  21. I hadn't even read what you say here before I made my post (above) that started with "3rd time's the charm ?" in which I also took a look at the big picture which is very much in line with your too simplistic look philosophy .
    1 point
  22. 3rd time's the charm ? Getz has to have a couple of objectives when it comes to Robert. A. Trade him for a return he thinks is head and shoulders above another offer. B. In the unlikely event that offer doesnt materialize, keep Robert and hope his talents manifest enough to contribute to a much stronger record in the 1st half to avoid another 100 loss season . Murakami and the promise of a full years worth and continued progress from the young hitters is not guaranteed . If both Murakami and Robert do well Getz could be looking for a much bigger score at the deadline . Then after the TDL the Sox could be fueled by pitchers returning from TJS and perhaps Braden Montgomery, Antonacci, Schultz, Hagen Smith , Oppor and McDougal.

  27. Benetti and Stone were excellent together at the beginning. By the end the act had worn thin..................Schriffen is so bad at times its actually entertaining laughing at him.

  28. The only problem I had with Benetti was too many corny "dad" jokes. Otherwise, he was great - a home-grown "voice of the Sox" announcer who could have been here for decades while getting some national broadcasts too. But, we're Sox fans and can't have good things. At least he didn't jump ship to the Cubs - which would have been yet another PR win for the North Siders as they know how to promote their on-air talent. I wonder how well liked he is in Detroit? Some talk radio blowhard ripping on him doesn't tell me what the fanbase in general thinks of him. Schriffen is simply not watchable. He doesn't belong in a MLB broadcast booth. But Uncle Jerry wants someone there who will tell us we're eating prime rib when in reality they're serving us a s%*# sandwich.

  29. The reoccurring theme of players that Getz gave millions to having to settle for pittance contracts or minor league deals just a year later is a bit unsettling.

  30. He had a 16.4% K rate across July & August. That K rate was fairly consistent in both months and radically different from the rest of 2025. Obviously there is other noise in those numbers which you are seeing. The point is him being more patient & selective was finally paying off in terms of his K rate. I’m not guaranteeing he is fixed, but it’s a noticeable change in trend that followed a significant improvement in his chase rate that followed a well documented offseason in which he used a Trajekt machine to improve his pitch recognition and ultimately swing decisions.

  33. Benetti is a much better national announcer than he is a local one. Glad he moved on, which happened because he wanted more money to do less games. Hard to blame the Sox for that.

  38. To me, the only bad thig about trading Robert now is he'd be dealt when his value is relatively low. The return will be less than optimum and most likely wouldn't help the Sox in 2026. However, do we really think Robert will be on this team beyond 2026? I certainly don't. If he plays well in 2026, and he isn't traded at the deadline, he'll get paid by some other team for 2027 and after. If he struggles again, or is hurt again, he'll stick around all season and not be re-signed. The best case scenario is the Sox hold onto him, he tears it up for the first half (and miraculously doesn't get hurt), and he gets traded for a nice return at the deadline. Do we really see that happening? History says it's unlikely.

  40. Schiff is an asskisser, which is JRs number ask. He will be here at least until Uncle Ish takes over
    1 point
  41. JR driving him away and replacing him with someone who is highly unqualified doesn't impact the play on the field, but it sure typifies how he has run this organization over the last two decades. At least when the decade is out, our team should be under new ownership. When Pope Leo throws out the first pitch at the new ballpark, I don't expect Schriffen to be there unless he bought a ticket to the game.

  42. I didn't mind watching Benetti get a little sloppy on occasion. Nothing wrong with that at a baseball game. Plus it provides good contrast from Stone acting like he would light up in flames if he even came in contact with a piece of food in the booth.
