I think it's time for a Ja Rule Demolition Night.
  2. It’s SLUMPBUSTER TIME, baby!!! I have come out of retirement for this one day only to create this game thread that will put an end to those scumbag Guardians! It’s over, you vile scum…
  3. Hope all 4 of these guys involved ultimately have long and successful careers with this franchise.
  4. I don’t feel like commuting to Wrigley.
  5. Is the reliever laughing now? Eat s%*#.
  6. I think that's harsh. He's young there's a lot of room to grow. Not comparing the 2 but I still remember that a rookie Dylan cease could not be trusted to pitch in game 3 of the playoffs. People wanted him gone too at that point and thought he would amount to nothing.
  7. Soxtalk presents completely plausible scenario where manager takes heat for players and finds a clever way to buy time for his pitcher to warm up. Know-it-all shits on it and takes the pessimistic view every time.
  8. I'm with you on this one, Bon. Seems like Will is far too sharp to have done something like this accidentally. (Disclaimer: I have zero qualifications to render this opinion. I'm just a guy sitting at his laptop, in the kitchenette of his efficiency apartment, having a cup of Casey's "Darn Good" coffee, and thankful for this brand new day.)
  9. Back to 3 up in the division, good vibes tonite with Ozzie’s jersey retirement!
  10. We've avoided what would have been a disasterous Cleveland sweep....but a series win would truly be sweet.
  11. I thought he hit that one out that was foul. But then I remembered it's Romo and how he has no pop.
  12. That was probably the biggest game of the season for the Sox up to this point.
  13. Romo in a 7-80 slump. No way Haase can be worse
  14. I'm sorry for my slander towards Chase. He's a legit ballplayer.
  15. That from Chase reminds me of the old school guys saying walks are overrated because sometimes you need to get a hit in this AB and that might mean swinging at a pitch outside the zone
  16. I’d rather have Pierzynski catch tonight than Romo.
  17. What in the f***? In what world do you DFA him over Joe fucking Rock?!?!
  18. Romo is going to run into one tonight. Sox win 6-3.
  19. The season comes down to who the mods choose here. That’s how important tonight’s game and this thread are. No pressure at all.
  20. I think since the Sox were in first place ( with even a small cushion) , they should have been more aggressive in getting at least one "good" starting pitcher. The team and the fans deserved that but I don't think "management" felt the same way.
  21. The Sox have totally jacked up Noah. The good thing is the offseason is almost here and he is still young with high end stuff (despite Sox jacking that up too). Prior to this start we had seen some progress but he also doesn’t have ability to go deep vs big leaguers. Get him down there with a simplified game plan and give him some extra rest beteeen starts to keep building up his durability and momentum. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him up in September out of the pen and then a good mini refresh in the offseason with a much sharper game plan. I will caveat - at this point - there is plenty I’m pleased with by the Sox, but I think they need to strongly consider shake ups on the pitching development / coordination side…cause it has been nothing but a massive series of failures.
  22. No, I don’t think the Red Sox are cheating. Whoops, wrong conspiracy theory thread.
  23. Not only would it have been incredibly odd for him to come out to talk to Noah that early, but that Bove just let him walk out there is kind of telling, too. That important game was about to get away from us in the top of the 1st…if ever there was a perfect time to “accidentally” force your flailing starter out of the game with no one warm in the pen, that was it. ETA…if he forgot Bove had already gone out there, why didn’t he send Bove out again? Have we ever seen Will make the first mound visit of a ballgame, much less in the first?
  24. I could start a Go Fund Me for Mat if you think that would help.
  25. Yeah he could be taking the heat. He wouldn't admit that he purposely did this. The whole point of this theory was to avoid the embarrassment of short leash for Schultz.
  26. Why would you DFA Thorpe? First, there is still some obvious fat on the 40 man roster. Joe Rock, Tyler Davis, & Tyler Gilbert should be amongst the first guys to go. Second, he has all three options remaining and worst case scenario can serve as important depth AAA role to start next season. Obviously it would be great if he could force his way into a rotation spot sooner, but he can still play an important role regardless.
  27. If a dude drives home drunk but doesn’t hit anymore, did he not make a mistake? No big deal, right? Victim or not, you still made a grave mistake that was a totally uncalled for and was just sheer incompetence from a manager in the dog days of August trying to get this team going again after a very lackluster series in Boston. Taking your starter out, by mistake because you weren’t paying attention is inexcusable
  28. Pitching him today, he should be on schedule. Good for everyone involved. Fedde is much more effective as a starter then a reliever.

Also, not catching 5 days a week might have something to do with it, too.
  30. I think he did it on purpose but could never admit it
  31. Make him listen to an hour's worth of audio of Dan Plesac talking about eating a Boom Stick.
  32. Don’t think so. Venable was probably on a lack of sleep and just goofed. No excuse at all for such a miscue though. If you can’t remember something that happened minutes before you should probably have had your bench coach on high alert and helping protect you from yourself.
  33. These call-up’s got me thinking about the rotation plan for next year. Burke, Martin, Castillo, & Kay all under control through 2027. Then you have the big three SP prospects in Schultz, Hagen, & McDougal. Finally, you got Thorpe & Shane as additional depth options. I think don’t think you can enter 2027 with five of those guys as your rotation and call yourself a serious contender. A legit TOR starter needs to be added. However, I also think you can’t block all your major prospects and forgoe that long-term development. Getz has to find a way to balance these two priorities. This is part of the reason I found the Castillo trade so peculiar. He is all but guaranteed a spot that could have gone to a more impactful pitcher. Do they trade Kay or use him as their swingman? This is obviously a good problem to have, but only if you go out and get that big fish in free agency. Castillo is at best a mid rotation guy and none of the prospects should counted on for more the back of the rotation performance given their 2026 seasons.
  34. As of now, the Yankees would play the Red Sox in the wild card round/

Guys, it's possible they just lost to the Red Sox.
  36. 2 points
Yep, I think the Sox are not absolved of blame. They knew during first pitch whether guy was going to show up. They wanted the concessions, which they would've received anyway since it was African Heritage Night, the team is good, it's a battle for first place. I thought that was in poor taste. Either way, I guess ever since Spirit shut down, Ja Rule can't afford to catch a flight.

Didn't 50 Cent end this dudes career?
  38. There should be punishment that is handed down by the FO to Venable. Not sure what it would be, but your job is literally to put your team in the best position for success, and he failed in a huge way, after a 13 inning game the night before. I don’t care that he “owned up” to the mistake. You teach your players to be focused and not make mental errors, Venable’s main job duties are to sit on a bench for 2.5 hours a night. You can’t make that mistake at this level, and their should be repercussions for his actions

Well he pitched a solid 1 through 4, then got bombed in the 5th. Oh well. Here’s some positive stuff: Bonemer is 2-4 with a 2B, HR, and BB
