  1. Surprisingly I’m not nervous at all. Team has had an incredible year. Even if they lose this series, I won’t be disappointed.
  2. I think I’d be a little disappointed if they lost to Cleveland because I truly believe the Sox have the better team. But I agree anything from this point forward is just the cherry on top of the most unpredictable season in history
  3. What about someone that was over promoted and will be just fine financially? John got a chance many better announcers never will and he blew it in various ways.
  4. Yeah, I just had a "f***-it" moment and booked my trip to Cleveland tonight. Hope to see some of you there. I'll be the drunk one in Sox gear
  5. Right on. I hope most fans feel this way instead of being all gatekeepery. There’s plenty of room on the bandwagon. Come have fun with us.
  6. I think if you ask any hardcore fan, what would you rather have, a team that makes the playoffs 3 times in a 25 year span but wins it all once or a team that makes 10 times but zero titles, the answer should be pretty obvious. Those of us old enough to remember the 05 team can confirm that no amount of division titles compares to watching the last out on a world series winning team and everything that comes after...absolutely none.
  7. Right, because you weren't just out here campaigning for Colson Montgomery to lose his. GMAB.
  8. I feel bad for him...but he was not good at his job and it was obvious to most. So I am happy it appears we may have a new PXP guy in our future.
  9. I've told this one before: was at a pretty low point in my life. Was feeling sorry for myself taking classes as a super senior in N. MI at some podunk college to finish my (very expensive) degree. Wasn't working, my parents were about ready to kick me out of the nest and I almost got into a fist fight with my dad one day, which would have been the worst idea in my life. The Sox ended up helping us resolve some things and we cried together when they won. A really neat thing and not unique based on all the 2005 stories I've been reading from people here and on X. My dad died not long after that sadly, but I know he's watching from above. He used to leave the TV up loud when it was bedtime so I could listen to the games as I fell asleep. Just amazing memories of him and our relationship with each other and the Sox.
  10. I mean Jason was just as clueless as John. Find someone that knows the game a bit. Enough to know that 20 times out of 21 you're not swinging 3-0.
  11. Did he improve? Sure. Do you get the impression he likes the Sox? Yea. Did he deserve another year? No. Even with his improvement he still was bad and I get the impression Stone would have retired rather than work with him again full time. Kinda just is what it is. He's been gainfully employed with his travel expenses all comped for three seasons while taking most of the offseason off from other gigs. He'll be OK and we'll hopefully find someone better.
  12. FWIW, I went up to the beach today in Michigan City and got this picture from our Zoo. Hammond is about half as far to Chicago.
  13. Should I wear my celibate for Sean shirt to my date tomorrow night?
  14. It also looks really bad that Ishbia waltzed in off the sidelines and got an insanely complex set of moving parts going to get his stadium done, when the Bears still can't figure WTF they are doing.
  15. Also send them to Soxtalk hell.
  16. Interesting convo. Coached HS hoops in WI for a long time. Lost in the game to go yo state three times in four appearances over five years. The one time we won that game, we won the whole thing. The school we beat in the state semis has been there something like three years in a row and four out of six but never even played for a state title. Their coach, a friend, told me he’d trade all their state appearances for our our gold ball. That’s the 2005 Sox. I wouldn’t trade that title for more success but no title over the last 20 years.
  17. This is no longer a "magical" season and whatever happens, we're good. I want blood this series. I want to beat the hell out of Cleveland. f*** those guys. Crush'em.
  18. We are talking about guys who were on 2024 roster and 2026 roster
  19. I don't understand most of the negative opinions about Schriffen. For example, he asked Stone if a hitter should be given the green light on 3-O. What was he supposed to do? Say nothing? OK. After he was criticized for that on-line, he stopped doing it, and that in itself became awkward - catering to the whims of internet sports forum warriors. Then the criticism about not gauging the distance of deep fly balls. Actually he was far better at that then Benetti. Then the "South side, stand up" OK, it was wonky but honestly, I admired the deference to the South side and it took balls to do that. Schriffen walked through the parking lot pregame to interact with Sox fans who were tailgating. Anyone have issues with that? Now, he made mistakes that some found unacceptabl. Others just do not like him personally or hate him for whatever their reasons. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that I don't think that he committed a firing offense (including his reference to Samurai swords) but if the majority of posters on this forum dislike him, then he probably should not be signed to an extension. After all, this place is the authority on all matters White Sox and management should defer. I demur.
  20. At this time last year everyone had Shane Smith penciled in as the Ace of the Staff.
  21. My under the radar dude who I think is going to make a name for himself and surprise a lot of people this series is Brenton Doyle.
  22. I feel like I felt after the 2008 regular season. Winning the division from the Twins was so rewarding I didn't really feel much when they lost to Tampa in the ALDS. That said this series is much more winnable than that one, Tampa in 2008 was a juggernaut.
  23. Easily the most pleasantly surprising
  24. Front Office SportsWhite Sox Announcer John Schriffen’s Status With Team Unc...With his contract set to expire following the 2026 season, White Sox announce John Schriffen’s status with the team is uncertain.
  25. George McCaskey is in over his head on a project like this. I think he knew this though and that's why he hired Warren to run the project since the Vikings stadium went so well. Turns out dealing with Illinois and Chicago government is a hell of a lot more difficult than Minnesota was who bent over backwards for the Vikings. Also turned out that Warren been an incompetent moron every step of the way.
  26. Makes total sense. Hopefully then can get Newcomb going again as that could be a pretty deadly pair against the Guardians.
  27. 1B also isn't covered long-term if they want to move Vargas to 1B eventually for one of the other IFs. DH at bats exist too though I would rather not shove someone that young into a primary DH role. Would rather use that as a spot to rotate and keep guys healthy.
  28. I don't think that's bandwagon-y. You can be a Sox fan and not fill Jerry's pockets by packing the Rate during 100-loss seasons. Sox fans reward the team with their attendance when they're good, and stay away when they're bad, and I've always respected that about our fanbase. I know tons of hard core Sox fans who are among those who returned to the Rate this Summer. I myself am a certified, lifelong White Sox sicko who went from season ticket-holder in 2022 to boycotting the Rate for a couple of years, to coming back strong in 2026. I too welcome new fans. I have more complicated thoughts about the casual, condescending Cub fan pseudo-support that materializes during Sox playoff runs.
  29. Did Ishbia already build this "rushed" stadium project? Is it complete? Are they done putting "hours of thought and design" into it? "Railyards" is a great name for the concept/vision of what is to come! Which at this point it still is a concept...there is no official name...what is a joke about that? I don't mind you being against the project...you are entitled to your views/opinions. But the way you present your feelings seems...straight out of middle school!
  30. I am not talking about giving up 2005, but talking about the last 20 years.
  31. Define “absolve” please
  32. Will have to disagree on Getz. Just finished reading ESPN piece on playoff teams chances to advance. On the Sox side the main obstacle is pitching, and that Getz did not do the job obtaining a reliable starter at the trade deadline. They also wrote that Castillo signing was a disaster with an 8.62 ERA with the Sox. In summary, they place the blame on Getz if the Sox do not advance. This is my opinion also. I find it hard for Getz to get any award with Castillo albatross around his neck.
  33. I’m about half in the bag. I’m hoping the Sox play on my birthday for the third time in my lifetime. The first one wasn’t so good…Tito Fucking Landrum. Second was fine. Third could be epic as we close out the series at home!
  34. 100% agreed, but I’m still going to post this just because the Meidroth/cuck chair meme got too old and far too close to being real with his most recent 3-run jizzy. @ron883’s perverted ass will appreciate it as well…
  35. Tribe fans gassing themselves up over division titles. Cool, how many WS appearances or titles you get out of that 32 years? Oh, that's right, you let the Cubs beat you in fan murdering style to blow your one appearence. 1948 is the last time you guys won jack s%*#. Division titles, who really GAF? Oh we beat a bunch of mediocre AL central teams! We need to end their fucking season. Tired of these jackoffs.
  36. The tragedy here is this guy buys his own land and wants to build his own stadium. We need to get back to the JR way when taxpayers pay for his stadium he designs, and then says he needs another one because the one that was built for him using his specs and virtually rent free, won't allow him to consistently compete with the Kansas City Royals.
  37. I’m not so sure this strategy is reasonable though. You need starters that can go 6-7 innings every now and then or the bullpen would get burned out.
  38. Lookin pretty spry, can probably go another 10 or 20 years.
  39. “ WE'RE GONNA GET ON A PLANE AND WE'RE GONNA HEAD TO CLEVELAND, OHIO. SOMEBODY'S POURING ALCOHOL DOWN MY PANTS. AND WHAT WERE GONNA DO IS SHOW UP, PLAY WHITE SOX BASEBALL AND WE'RE GONNA KICK SOME ASS.” - MIKE VASIL
  40. Devil Magic Guardians are no match for God's team. Sox in 3.
