There are relievers who look like toast one year and then look better the next year. Holland got off to an awful start with St. louis last year and has turned around to be the reliever we should have signed this year instead of Herrera. See how he is next May and then we'll talk.3 points

Like who? Blake Rutherford? Or quickly scroll through the list of HS kids that worked out and say one of them. Also, at various points in time, all three of those guys were top 100 prospects. Hansen lead the minors in strikeouts in 2017 and Burdi was probably the premier relief prospect in the game before his TJS (FG loved the kid). Arguing against their draft strategy is fair game, but to say they punted away an entire draft is beyond idiotic. Two years ago, this draft class looked like an absolute haul when you also factor in Lambert, Flores, & Hamilton. You are using revisionist theory to fulfill your negativity agenda.2 points

Plus it’s been barely any games. It is worth giving him time to learn etc. the overreactions some people have on this board is just crazy. Especially for a team that isn’t contending this year.2 points

Dude, that's a #1 draft pick Catchers with a career +.800 OPS in the minors. I need a little bit of what you're smoking, at least would make this game a little more enjoyable.2 points

I'm not a MLBer obviously but if someone called in off waivers was batting cleanup after batting 220 in AAA I'd kinda question WTF my manager was doing.2 points

This is a joke that should not have been told.2 points

Outside of Semien who developed nicely. I don‘t lose sleep over the other guys. Sox got a comp pick out of the deal as well.2 points

I believe his ERA is possibly under 2.00 since he moved to the pen about 18-20 innings ago.2 points

This trade would make me so angry that ironically it would make me want to go home and beat up my wife 😂. I’d not do this from a value or a moral stand point.2 points

This thread is an absolute blast with some legendary hot takes. I skimmed through pages 45 to 55 and here are some of my favorite posts. Good thing Tommy Longo isn’t around to read his “awesome” takes, although One Dog has seemed to take his spiritual place.2 points

We're destined to get Pederson. His name has appeared too many times on the this board and in media the last few years for Hahn to not get KW's man.1 point

You as well. I'm ready to report for reeducation camp. I will only go though if I can bring my brother in law and best friend with me.1 point

Name one major publication that didn’t have a first round grade on the kid? Oh that’s right, there won’t be one and you’re simply full of shit as usual.1 point

A 24 year old with an .800 career OPS in AAA!? Well, that changes everything. .800 OPS... and in AAA? Man oh man. This guy is something special. lol I thought the guy hitting .040 with a K% just under 50% looked overmatched. But now that I hear about this MAMMOTH .800 AAA OPS. Nobody has ever failed in the big leagues after eye popping numbers like that. I was definitely a fool for suggesting that the guy who might as well be swinging a wiffle ball bat up there looked overmatched. I must be so F'ING high! Maybe if we gave him full-time AB's - he could get that batting average up to .100. We'll call it... getting above the "Zack Collins line".1 point

I'm not a super optimist, so this isn't some trend that I'm going to uphold mindlessly. Right now, we're the 2014 Cubs. Or the 2014 Astros. Or the 2017 Braves. Or the 2018 Phillies (IDK, I think they're on the up and up). It might go a little bit differently for us, but at the very least, with Robert and Madrigal up, Cease, Kopech, and Gio in the rotation, and a few free agent signings, we should win 85-90 next year and contend for one of the WCs. Undeniable dominance in 2021. If we don't do that, heads need to roll. Feel free to bookmark this post.1 point

Not based on statistics, but my gut tells me you're correct here. It seems like scrambling to work out on a Saturday morning, hit confession, and handle my other business all so that I'm home and relaxed by the time the game comes on just to then be looking for something else to do a few minutes later is a recurring motif this year.1 point

I guess this is why we should've kept Despaigne...right now it would be handy to have a guy that doesn't need to warm up before coming in1 point

Reinsdorf still shuffling Titanic deck chairs. Spend some damn money, man. Start stabilizing this pitching staff.1 point

I guess you didn‘t get the memo: Nobody at AA is a prospect anymore because they had slow starts. Might as well release Sheets and Rutherford.1 point

I was just thinking the same thing. No need to rush him. The last 50% of games he’s played in AAA, he’s averaging only one extra base hit per game.1 point

I think you are missing that what you said is not funny nor a joke. So this is clearly not a dark sense of humor it's you lacking common decency.1 point

Very good points. I'd also like Robert to be up to get acclimated by Jose as well. Having an entire offseason to get mentorship for the game and city life here by Abreu, Moncada, Timmy, and Eloy gets that bonding in motion.1 point

Since he went to the bullpen his ERA has dropped from 7.75 to 5.37. In 28 innings he has let up 4 runs, I think if he is a 2 inning guy at most he could be a good reliever1 point

There is no such thing as a troll with over 34,000 posts. It's hard to stay that involved in your favorite team much less one you are just goofing around with. Secondly, I think Greg has plenty of company as the type of fan who wants to try and win every game in every year no matter how unlikely. Rebuilds are really hard to sit through. Lastly, none of us like it when our favorite player or players are traded. We like our guys no matter what. They may be bums but they are our bums. Like most of you I thought the rebuild was necessary and past do. I hated to trade Sale and Q...and to a lessor degree Eaton. Trading the established good guys is how you get multiple young good guys in return. We are now at the final stages and we are all anxious to get to the winning stage. These final trades or acquisitions are going to be interesting as we will get a glance into Hahn's thinking. I encourage you to get off Greg's back. He's a White Sox fan...I'm a White Sox fan...you all are White Sox fans. There aren't that many of us so we need to stick together.1 point

They’ve been interested in him for a while and got him for free... just gonna heck him out and see what gives. No harm no foul.1 point

Is this surprising to you? Keith Law absolutely DESPISES the White Sox. It's comical at this point.1 point
