  1. So we've got that females are inferior to men (otherwise why would "female" be an insult)? We have that being gay is inferior to being straight, otherwise why need the gay culture slurs, as well as other stereotypes such as a "high" voice and ones I don't understand like working at Starbucks. I think at this point there is only one thing to do at this point: *Consider this a warning. Soxtalk is an inclusive spot, with a membership that covers just about every stereotype you just crapped on, not to mention a myriad of others. We don't allow hate speech, even when it there is an attempt to cutely hide it, but still use it as an obvious attempt at an insult. Further instances will result in suspensions and/or banning from the page. If you can't handle that, you are on the wrong page, feel free to find a new home.

  2. Benetti doesn’t make me “cringe” This thread does, though.

  3. Hate and bigotry are not opinions.

  4. Benetti is amazing. This thread is trash. Mainly because of your weird internal insecurities with "femininity" invading your sports world. You are definitely in the minority on Jason though. This year's Athletic Broadcast survey has Jason/Stone as 8th best in MLB.

  5. Thanks for info. Damn ... I never thought in my life if I returned to my city I'd immediately be quarantined 14 days in the hotel. This is the worst situation in America in my lifetime. Unbelievable. Add to that the social unrest. I won't get into this for obvious reasons (ban) but I can't take my eyes off the Portland riots every night and have a million opinions so if anybody needs info on what's going on in Portland DM me. GO SOX! Enjoyed watching the Cub game the other night. Couldn't figure out how to work NBC app to watch the second Cub game.

  6. When you imply that being gay or female is someone less than being straight or male, and that it is something to mock people about, that is EXACTLY what is happening.

  7. No he will not return until 2024, maybe

  8. Have you been having thoughts or dreams with homoerotic undertones that you're ashamed of? All jokes aside, this is one of the dumbest things that I've ever seen here. I can't decide if this post is more misogynist than homophobic or if its more homophobic than misogynist but its certainly completely stupid.

  10. this thread will be locked and you will be banned in a few minutes, but I do find your whole premise ironic when you seem to suggest asking women questions is creepy.

  11. It is also the opinion of this page in general. We won't allow it. Period.

  12. Keep reading his comments past the OP. Thinking people shouldn't crap on your lifestyle isn't "mock outrage" or whatever the cult is calling it these days. It is common decency.

  13. OP was stating he doesn’t want to hear certain things, like about players wives, in his baseball broadcast. It’s his opinion. I didn’t catch where he was implying any of those subjects were less then other things. If you are someone who is actively looking to be offended by someone else’s opinion, chances are you can be offended and label other people often enough. So many people try and make everything black and white, while the reality of life is actually various shades of grey. Mock outrage at a difference of opinions is lazy. But, that’s just my opinion, which isn’t special or unique - just like everyone else’s.

  14. You are the Manliest Man™, and that definitely has nothing to do with whatever is going on beneath the surface. There are plenty of fair critiques one could make of Benetti but this one is a hilarious way of projecting your own issues to the world

  15. I wish I could upvote this statement more than once. Apparently about 1/4 of the posters in this thread have no actual male friends, or if they do, they're all baristas at starbucks and/or producers for the Ellen show.

  16. I’m not agreeing with the reasons of the OP but it’s such a sad culture in today’s world. If someone has their own reasoning for an opinion that differs from your own, then it’s time to label it with trendy PC language like homophobe, incel or misogynistic and pretend to be terribly offended. It is pretty pathetic.

  17. The 1950's called and they want their thread back.

  18. Ignoring the latent sexism in the OP, Steve Stone is the problem in the broadcast booth, not Jason. If you listen to the guy with anyone else, he is 10 times better than he is with Stone. There is just zero chemistry between these two guys.

  26. So is this person getting banned or do I need to put him on ignore?

  27. You will learn that certain posters habitually ignore the context of posts they quote and then in their responses will proceed to make their own generalizations which fit their personal viewpoints and actually accuse *you* of doing what they are doing

  30. There is no way I can hate or even dislike Jason. He still needs to grow but I have seen improvement. He can be a little bit of an entertainer and needs to let that go. He is doing a play-by-play after all. Overall, I think he does a good job, and comes across as a decent guy. I know some still miss Hawk, but Hawk he was a bit much at times. He even mentioned that he marched into the manager's office when Jerry Manuel was manager and started lecturing Manuel about game strategy. Hawk was not in the front office; he was in the booth. He had no business sticking his nose into Manuel's business. Stuff like this got old. It was time for Hawk to retire; he couldn't have been connecting with younger fans by talking about the Sixties. Also Harry Carey embarrassed himself in various ways during his last years. I think Jason should have a chance to learn his job. If he doesn't continue to grow and fans are truly offended by him, he won't be able to hold onto his job. Finally, I have had a personal dealing with him and found him to be a decent person.

  31. I really don't like Soxmath and the prize shelf, but others do so that is fine. I am good with Benetti. He is a truly professional announcer who has overcome adversity, and he is a lifelong Sox fan which is a plus in my book.

  32. Also please change your gender to female.

  33. If you are a "man" and you are following the players wives on twitter and then quoting them then you are a very special kind of uber-effeminate dork at the very least.

  34. I think Bennetti really eggs Stoney into the puns. When he was with the Cubs or with Farmio or Hawk he wasn't like this at all. I don't mind the goofiness with Stone, but I don't like the "old man" gimmick that he has to play because it's obviously not him. Stoney used to be more of a sarcastic ass, but in a good way. I know his tell-it-like-it-is style got him thrown out of the Cubs booth but I loved listening to him back then when a Cubs game would be on, and when he came to the Sox I was thrilled about it. I would love to see Stoney stick with baseball constantly because he's really good at it. And I would like to see Bennetti use Stoney's baseball mind for better purposes. I mean if I had the luxury of being paid to watch Sox games and put forth questions to Steve Stone about baseball all game I bet I would do something more useful to the baseball fan sitting at home than try to make funny jokes or show off how witty I can be.

  37. ignore me and i'll ignore you too if they ban me then they should banm the other posters baiting me into this by taking my comments out of context and assuming that a general dislike for an overly immasculine baseball announcer is somehow some form of hate, homophbia, bigotry, stance against women, etc. and all of the other nonsense posters like you are talking about it's not like your opinions are going to be useful for anything. hey by the way i'm glad we drafted a guy you don't like. i bet he's great and you will have to suck on that one.

  38. right I don't want to hear about what the players wives think and a guy who is following their posts and talking about it socially is loudly immasculine to the point where it is difficult to listen to then some other guy starts talking about his homoerotic dreams? and then other posts pile on, talking about personal insecurities etc it's always amazing how any time a heterosexual male has a viewpoint he must always have these homoerotic inner fantasies or whatever according to all the metros who will criticize him for it

  42. Ozzie will never manage again cause of his mouth, but as some on here may remember I love him. Back in the day it didn't help Oz that Mariotti was in town. Those two were in a personal war it seems and Oz seemed to be even more outspoken those days. Of course his worst bit actually was in Miami over his statements on Castro. If Oz could master the English language a bit better ... he'd be the most outstanding/funny/controversial MLB announcer maybe in history. As it stands now it's kind of hard to understand him. I love him though.
