Jason Benetti & Steve Stone back - options picked up
My take: Love Benetti. Totally love Stone. Hate Gordo's voice but rooting for him to get better. He's a fan fave as a player IMO.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
Those were the days the security took unruly fans to the basement of the stadium for a talking to. Different era.

Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil
I guess what I'm trying to say is "for once I don't hate this move." I didn't want that Pirates guy. Elvis seems like a real player. Not saying he will be, though.

East Palestine, OH Derailment
Scary stuff. My deep hope is people are safe drinking that water there and bathing in it.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
My quickie memories. ... -- Was in a watermelon eating contest as a kid on the field outside the Sox dugout in conjunction with 4th of July twinbill. Activities took place in between games. I remember Ken Brett saying "don't choke on the seeds." -- Got to walk around the old park with friends with a banner on banner day. Again between games of a DH. -- My last game in the park was against Cleveland late in that final season. It was rainy and ugly out and we stayed til the 7th and it was fitting the first game I ever left early was my last. Patted one of those pillars, took a last look at the field and me and brother left satisfied emotionally. -- Saw some roof shots in person; will never forget the sound of bat on ball in that gem of an old park. Saw Eric Soderholm break up a no hitter in a 0-0 game and the full park going crazy. Other memories for sure. Like Fred Lynn whacking a home run knocking out Hammaker in the all star game. And Dick Allen hitting a moon shot homer to rc. And Sammy Sosa as a Sox throwing out a guy at third from RF with us having seats right there at third. Neat to see the rocket throw and tag vs. a Yankee. And a Tom Seaver gem when he was old. Went six or seven strong innings and fans went wild for him. Love old Comiskey.

Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil
He's one of the few Sox I rooted for at the end of last season. Seemed like he hustled and tried and hit OK.

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
With all due respect why did you tie the knot? Didn't she show a lot of signs she would not be supportive of your career? Pretty disrespectful for a spouse to criticize a partner's career like that especially when college coaches can make a ton of money.

When do Sox put Anderson on the trading block?
Sox obviously don't care about any player embracing the southside after not keeping Jose. When they reach a certain age the popular thing is to let the player walk even if he's a fan favorite and a complete stud. I was thinking the other day with Jose gone I don't really have a personal love for any of our players for the first time in a long time. There's usually one or two I will defend til death so to speak. Right now I'd be OK with trading any of them.

Spring Training 2023 Predict the Fluff Pieces
My guess it'll be all stuff about the new manager. This team is considered a dull collection of possible stars who have proven nothing so far. The manager needs to cure this sense of doom, blah attitude surrounding an oft-injured team. There should be constant talk of injuries and a desire to prevent them. Hope that happens.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
I would like to go to three games at GRate this season. If I attend what are the odds of getting supurb free seats and free parking from soxtalk fans with box seats who want to sit next to this much hated fan and argue about Beninendi during the game? Actually I might end up liking him being a Sox. I'm not all for the lift and pull status of baseball.

Is Benin that good? I know Royals fans don't care he's gone. They say no power.

2022-23 NFL Season thread
Without getting political, this (to me) is one of the biggest stories in Chicago sports history and (at least I) you don't hear much about it. Again I don't want to force my political views out here (everybody who reads my comments know I'm not a fan of my city anymore cause of my perception of leadership at top) but it seems to me there's not nuff outrage that a huge city like Chicago is losing its NFL team to a place called Arlington Heights. To me it's a collosal loss for the city, but again, maybe that's just me. I'd think there'd be outrage for a lot of people regarding this situation. Peace out as always and may debris from a balloon never fall your way.

Any news on the Bears? Are they leaving for Arlington or staying put? Are they gonna build the palace the honorable Lightfoot was proposing or splittsville to suburbia?

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
Is this guy going to be allowed to go to spring training or have the Sox put him on paid leave? Seems to me the Sox haven't done squat to improve the roster this offseason. You don't get better by subtraction of a decent player (Abreu) and adding zip.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
I don't understand why anybody would buy season tix when you can get good seats on the secondary market. If the team is any good just get tix on the internet sites that sell 'em. April and May you are dealing with cold weather. Summer time storms hit a lot. So why tie yourself into games that are played in absurd conditions?

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
White Sox selling slogan to fans appears to be: "Admit it, we've had worse teams than this in your lifetime. See you at G-Rate Field in April of 2023."

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
I also was thinking in retirement it'd be fun to go to every single MLB game I guess if I lived here it'd have to be the Royals. I'd never move back to Chicago now cause of what I perceive as it being unsafe (not that here is that safe). Anyhow I agree with your longer post. Sad we have to feel this way. My question is ... what would it cost me for 2 season tickets to Sox 15 rows up from third base or catcher and parking? How much jack does that cost nowadays? thanx.

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
It's up to baseball commish to make the call. Probably should suspend him without pay (will players assn. allow that though?) til the court case if there is one. Unless there's a video the legal process prolly has to play out before he's permanently kicked out of baseball, right? I don't pretend to be a legal mastermind so sorry if I'm way off base. Just my thoughts.

White Sox Interested in Naperville Legend Nicky Lopez
Yeah he's a good player. Bring him over or Massey. Naperville vs. Bro Rice.

I agree with southsider. I don't give him the benefit of the doubt in any way but I hope the true facts are unearthed and justice is served.

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
Man this is scary stuff. No way this guy will play baseball again. But it will be the commish who has to suspend him, right, in conjunction with the players' association? Sox are hamstrung by the innocent until proven guilty mantra right? I'm sure the MLB players association will demand results of investigation before he's suspended. Or am I clueless on this? I don't want it to seem like I'm some Sox fanatic that wants him to pitch for the Sox if he did this stuff. I'm just wondering how the suspension works. Best wishes to all involved. If he abused people I pray they are OK physically and mentally. If he didn't do anything wrong I pray he's exonerated.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
I'd like to reacquire Madrigal. It'd remind me of the good ol days when Sox were considered can't miss playoff team/likely WS winner in coming years. Might reverse the bad karma.

Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
The idea of Eloy in RF is ludicrous. I mean cmon. Now that we showed Jose the door just put Eloy at DH every single game or add him to the 1B brigade for a game a week as a reward for staying healthy. If he doesn't like it he can leave via free agency when it's time. If the Sox are serious about him in the OF then in the offseason they'd pay Jermaine Dye or somebody to work out with Eloy one month straight in Arizona in the OF and see if there's any chance he could play out there. Can u imagine Eloy in RF? It will be comical.
-
The problem with the White Sox is not 2B and RF, it's their "superstars."
If a rebuild means a tank job, I hope the Sox just move to Vegas. I'll root for the uniform in Vegas but not be a zealot. Trying to lose games during a tank job is against what the spirit of sports is all about.

Build your own rotation
I'm assuming guys can pitch 8-9 innings so I will list NOBODY from the current era. My rotation: Seaver (in his prime; he still was pretty damn good with the Sox); Buehrle, McDowell in his prime and Gary Peters. Honorable mention: Hoyt of that one special season and Wood (the guy once started both ends of a DH). Early Wynn and Pierce and Lyons and those old guys can be honorary pitching coaches. I realize they might be the best of the bunch for all I know.
