If the Sox are willing to eat half or more of his salary and want pitching then get David Stearns back on the phone

The Mets should be able to put together a prospect package to rival this with position players.  If the Reds package is accurate, it is very Frozen in that it is totally Fixer Uppers.

Hold onto him so he can maybe play 100 games and wait for his bat to get hot with the weather?

Sure. You'd get the same type of return at the deadline anyways. He's not even close to blocking anyone yet you're trading him for the sake of trading him. Any protection and stabilization he can offer to the younger players is worth more than these names.

They want pitching. I honestly don’t know if Jerry will eat $$ for Cohen

Not a single one of those pitchers seems very interesting to me at all. Why would we give the Reds $10M and a real live MLB player for even all three?

IDK why the Sox would want even more guys coming back from TJS. Maybe Bannister sees an easy fix for Petty or something. Trading an outfielder when you already have the weakest outfield group in mlb seems insane.  Braden Montgomery has to be thrilled, though.

We arent winning 70 games so who cares.

If the Sox think any of these guys are worth it, and can get a comp pick in the deal, then do it. Otherwise don’t trade him for players you don’t think will have any impact just to get rid of him.

That tells me what the Sox think of the current pitching situation as they are still thin in position players overall, but especially in the OF.

They don’t have anywhere near enough pitching to compete if they kept Robert. None of this is about 2026.
