  1. No, you weren't. This needless underhanded jab proves it. He was just cracking a joke. You're such a miserable ass...

  2. What's the exit velocity on a swing and miss?

  3. my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them is an okay consolation prize. White sox should seek to ensure their roster is as young player as possible, as the old players may rub off on them and turn them old.

  6. I don't dislike Madrigal as a prospect, but it's funny how he went from criminally underrated to criminally overrated in a month.

  7. Without fail I have been critical of the move, but at this point I have to say it. The Nova acquisition was absolutely worth it.

  8. I'd rather have the media hype Vlad Jr. over the other son of a former major leaguer who is 20 and is miles better as a player for my sanity..

  9. It was just a throwaway blurb from an aggregater site. you guys probably spent more time debating its meaning than the author spent writing it.

  10. Luis Rodriguez just was moved from DSL to AZL today. We have done it with others, not often, but it is done.

  12. Right, while nearly all posters can blend the many factors that go into our opinions on what the team should do to be a consistent contender moving forward (age, control, position, productivity, future outlook, etc), greg can only handle one, so he assume all of us are only focused on a single input as well. And despite pointing this out, he will not be able to grow or change, because this has been pointed out to him roughly 1000x to him during the last 10 years at least and nothing.

  13. I see I missed the memo that everyone was getting wasted tonight and pretending Madrigal got to play 81 games in Colorado

  14. This is freaking awesome! Trade Fulmer and Bryce Bush for Pederson!!!

  15. Yes, I'm sorry, please go on and explain how this 26 year old first baseman who has declining power numbers repeating AAA for the third time in one of the best hitting environments in baseball, in a season with a surge in offensive output due to a change in baseballs, in one of the best talent identifying and developing organizations in baseball, is going to be JD martinez. JD martinez of course, was an actual big leaguer for years before, a fringey poor defensive outfielder who completely remade his swing in an offseason and it didn't manifest itself in the limited playing time they had to re-evaluate it before releasing him. What has changed since 2013? Well they have added millions in technology and coaching that would have helped show them that his swing plane had changed, launch angle had become consistently better and his exit velocity improved. They have turned over almost all of the staff since then. They actually held themselves accountable for the mistake. But yes, nice anecdote. I'm sure AJ Reed is going to be JD Martinez just like Yolmer is going to be a superstar. You called it.

  19. Remember, Real brings nothing but those truth bombs so clearly the Sox bungled his defensive development in the short time he was with us!!

  20. Uh collins is 3 years younger and catches and this is his first ever taste of the majors. Palka is the worst defensive player in MLB baseball and cant hit and has had like 600 mlb at bats. Weird that you cant seperate the two.

  22. 70 extra base hits?! 70?! The dude had 28 in 500 plate appearances in the minors. You're asking him to double his power as he goes UP to the majors.

  28. Honestly I kinda forgot about him. If he has any trade value dump him for a bucket of balls and a rosin bag. Maybe a sunflower seed bucket to be named later.

  29. Willians Astudillo would be your point of comparison, and he stinks. So it’s possible. Madrigal being able to run helps though. I also imagine Nick will be able to walk more than he strikesout unlike Astudillo

  30. Butler and Westbrook? Well that sounds like 2 guys who have a strong reputation of adapting their game to work with the people they're playing with.

  31. Since June 1st two players have dominated the league to the tune of a wRC+ of 198. Those two players? One is Mike Trout. The other is Yoan Moncada.

  32. Reed was assigned to Triple-A. I'd bet on Wely coming off the IL after the break and Collins getting a bulk of the DH at bats.

  34. it turned out to be mild shoulder inflammation and the Tigers being incredibly cautious. He should be fine although obviously anytime you hear "shoulder inflammation" and "starting pitcher" you get nervous.

  36. If you could package Abreu and Colome you might get Tucker from them. It would be worth it. Tucker would fill the RF hole, and is a LH bat. Tell Jose to go win a ring and come back in the winter. Houston's one lineup hole has been 1B for as long as I can remember.

  37. He has spent what, a total of 6-7 months in the Sox minor leagues? They are far from perfect but his defensive issues have nothing to do with their instruction. He was acquired to hit bombs, the end.

  39. Any time you can get value from a reliever when you're a non-contender, you take it. We have months to replace Colome, either externally or internally. One of Burdi, Hansen, Fulmer or Hamilton could emerge. If not, you have the entire off season to find relievers.

  40. The Sox have had a good selection of nice guys. Delmonico and Palka are both easy to like... but it's a good sign when there is no longer room for them on our improving team.

  43. We literally just drafted nine prep players and signed eight of them. This includes our 2nd, 3rd, & 4th round picks. Your complaint of not being willing to take high upside prep talent is outdated.

  46. Nobody wants to keep him for the sake of winning a few more games this year. It's to have a good bullpen moving forward in to next year and beyond. Why are you against him being our closer for the next 2-4 years? At a certain point you have to say it's time to build this up, instead of continuing to tear it down. The Sox have the pieces to move full steam ahead.
