Only the Sox can start an inning with a guy on 2nd, get 2 singles and a walk, and manage to score only 1 run.4 points

So graveman and Kelly can neither pitch b2b games and they're relievers who we gave multi-year deals too lol4 points

Yeah, unfortunately Yoan has two things going against him. He doesn’t play the game with passion (which who cares) and has undelivered on his potential despite offering much needed OBP and being a 4 win guy in the past. Can’t really defend him this year, although it’s painfully obvious he’s been hurt all year.4 points

Yup, fat, unathletic Jake Burger is an embarrassment to Major League Baseball players with that career 122 wRC+ and 0.8 over 203 plate appearances. Meanwhile, that Kelenic kid continues to get regular updates in his own dedicated thread despite a career 69 wRC+ and -0.4 over 473 plate appearances. 🤔4 points

Kelenic makes that play at third, despite being left handed. Absolute stud.4 points

Harrison may have been ass for the first 2 months, but he's been a huge reason why we've won the last 2 nights.3 points

He said something like “you know you have Jake Burger on the bench” in a snarky manner when discussing options for the 9th3 points

Recency bias and errors at 3rd base are errors. Errors or lack of speed in the OF don't look as bad because a ball just out of reach in the OF is a double but not an error. So in the OF the lack of range hurts you but at 3rd you get actual errors on your record that effect your fielding percentage. This is why DRS and OAA is used. Fangraphs 2022 Burger 3B 281 innings -4 DRS ,-4 OAA Vaughn RF 130 inning -4 DRS , -1 OAA, 22 Putouts Vaughn LF 138.1 Innings -4 DRS, -6 OAA 27 Putouts Vaughn has been worth .9 fWAR Mendick .7 fWAR Burger .6 fWAR Vaughn Mendick and Burger have been the 4th, 5th and 6th most valuable members of the Sox position players. WAR is capable of going up or down . It appears Vaughn is better in RF but consider the ball probably finds him less in RF For anyone talking about sending Mendick or Burger down Mendick is 5th on the Sox in fWAR which has been racked up in a short period of time, most of it since TA was injured. As mentioned 5th and 6th most valuable position players for the Sox this season Burger was leading the team in HR for a short time until Abreu passed him. Vaughn's moved up his fWAR with his hitting lately . I'm pretty sure it was at .6 last week. Draw your own conclusions on the defensive data .3 points

Having TA, Vaughn and Robert hitting 1-3 is badass. Hope TLR doesn't get cute and start mixing and matching.3 points

I’ve spent all morning thinking of a good strategy for these next two games, and I think I have it: Win both and sweep these f*cks.3 points

THIS WILL BE A FUN GAME for baseball nerds. Gausman has served up only 2 homers. The adjusted wind is blowing 31% out for HR's tonight. Cease is in same boat. Just two great pitchers, great bats all around -- and that's including the Sox now that they've decided to wake up. Something has to give today ... weather .... bats .... pitchers ... I'm just excited as a baseball nerd to watch all of it. Gausman has actually struggled of late, but his road splits and night game splits are very solid. Going to need to play a CLEAN game. can't have any errors or mistakes. wind and those bats will bite you if you don't take advantage of the small stuff ... clean defense, hitting cutoff men, sac hits, sac flys, understanding the situations. also very importan for cease to get ahead in the count. this is not a game i want to see sousa in... or any of our bullpen really. cease needs to be aggressive, no nibbling and get 6-7ip. I don't care if it's 4er, just needs to get late in game. opposite side sox bats need to be patient, same thing. lets get to their bullpen. the quicker gausman gets the hook the better for the sox. prediction -- whoever forces the bullpen to come in first wins. go go sox.3 points

I still don't think the Sox get anywhere if Yoan and Grandal don't get back to being contributors on this team. Both are more important than Eloy at this point.3 points

That's a 2B out there in CF so Super Joe won't be packing his fucking lunch tonight. Velasquez did a nice job even with the Balk2 points

What a large fucking win. Down 2 runs with two outs and nobody on against one of the best closers in the game, and we got it done.2 points

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Celebrate the fucking win instead of telling us to suck it.2 points

I kind of like that idea as a compromise. I love the history of the game, but actually really enjoy the shorter extra innings. another compromise i thought might make sense is starting the runner on 1b instead of 2b. But then again, the idea is to artificially shorten the game with this rule, so whats really the difference between starting on 1st base or 2nd base if the crowd against is likely "baseball purists" and will dislike it either way. Sorry, i didnt click the link - but the shift ends in 2022 right, or at least it's a modified shift? That could be huge for a guy like Yaz and his value.2 points
