Wow. What a gripping story. Poor Bobby. As a recovering alcoholic, this type of read is always essential to keep up the good fight.5 points

And frankly, aren't they even more likely to contend in 2022? And even then, can we even be sure it's not 2023? And if it's 2023, is it really worth all of this when we'd only have another year of Moncada/Gio? I think we should blow it up.4 points

Don't try to figure that out. Laugh emoji's on plausible posts happen over and over from our vast array of disgruntled and troll members. Edit: Someone give me a laugh emoji ! Edit 2: Thank You3 points

Have zero clue why others are laughing at this - it is entirely plausible.3 points

Not sure it's necessary. 1st priority is starting pitching perhaps even after making that trade. I've been against trading the prospects but very much in favor of prospect for prospect if a position of need is filled with a position of strength. How much do we really lose with Madrigal ? We lose his years but get plenty years back in Gallen. Gallen has already proven himself in the majors. You can fill 2nd base with Cesar Hernandez. SIgn a one year stop gap right fielder or even go after Ryu or Bum. Gio Gallen Bum./ Ryu ,/ Keuchel Cease Lopez Kopech . Leave money for Betts or Springer next year or sign Rendon and forget about more pitching . I think the lineup is good without Rendon but the pitching staff still isn't great even with Gallen just like it wasn't with Wheeler. This is all just fantasy . If a Gallen for Madrigal trade ever materializes I would be shocked. It's just fun to play around with a new idea.2 points

Trading for Gallen and signing Rendon would make me shit myself and forget Machado or Tatis Jr ever existed.2 points

Enjoy this highlight reel of Guerrero throwing gas Dude easily reaches back and throws 100-103. Control sucks, but still really impressive.2 points

Well this is a guy where dropping some speed for control and movement would make sense.2 points

We are in agreement. Obviously unlikely to happen, but to say there is 0% chance while being condescending adds nothing of value. Let the people dream a little you scrooge.2 points

How can you rant and rave about strikeouts and say you like Domingo Santana?2 points

The Sox are not trading for Mookie Betts. There not signing Cole, Strasburg, or Rendon. This is not a I hate the white sox post. It is reality. Please people stop2 points

I'd stomach Dylan Covey for April if it meant Mookie Betts in RF.2 points

Ideally we'd just have had a time machine and made the original trade from the cardinals (and to be fair that was a sentiment at the time here).2 points

Fuck it, at this point I say just do it, but I’d have to keep Dunning and replace him with a lesser prospect. May not be enough but I’m not giving up both Lopez & Dunning for a one year rental.2 points

Caleb Smith...Marlins Jon Gray/Freeland/Hoffman...Rockies Robbie Ray...DBacks Matthew Boyd...Tigers Marco Gonzales...Mariners Tijuan Walker...DBacks Jimmy Nelson...Brewers Corey Kluber...Indians (highly unlikely) Chris Archer...Pirates Jeff Samardzija...Giants (highly unlikely) Price/Eovaldi/Sale...Red Sox (highly unlikely) Debate/discuss. Who can the White Sox afford to acquire in terms of talent surrendered? For which prospects/suspects? Who is worth trading for and then attempting to extend in this new FA universe of exploding contracts?1 point

Sox would have to add more, but this is where you really, really hope the Pirates evaluate Collins as a full-time catcher.1 point

The rays are so good at this no matter their competitive cycle it makes me ache. Getting good players you like, trade them for others.1 point
-
yes they are more likely to win in 21 than 20; and 22 than 21. But they need to get the show on the road. No interest in any Hahn trades for veterans (c. 5% success rate), but it's time to amass some free agent pitching.1 point
-
It's odd that Pham has been traded twice already, although in this case because the Rays do Rays things, like trading arb guys when they start to get expensive.1 point
-
FYI...Walker is a free agent. I worry we go out and use of few trade assets for Gonzalez.1 point

Vasquez is "much better" than McCann? That's arguable. Anyway, if you read some BoSox sites you will see that acquiring a catcher is on Chaim's to-do list. It is a perceived need they wish to address this off-season. . That's the point. Framing might soon become overrated as umpires start making their own adjustments to catchers trying to buy strikes. They have to or they will be replaced by video cameras.1 point

And since I've complained about Nagy all year, I will flat out say this was a really well called / executed game plan. Minimal penalties, so execution was nice, and most of the night I was kept off guard. We actually executed a few screens too. Nice to see. Hopefully Montgomery is okay. Still waiting for a game or two where the D forces a ton of turnovers. Pass rush was significantly better today.1 point

Ryu has averaged 25 starts per season if you leave out 2016...so that's not TOO bad. It's missing an average of about 6 weeks...although if you dig deeper and eliminate 2018, the average is 27.25 starts per season. 147 innings pitched per season, including 2018, when he only pitched for about half the season. Of course, you're paying for ages 33-35 or 33-36 and his 2nd place Cy Young performance in 2019, but he's definitely far from the definition of a power pitcher...and most (not all) would much prefer to take a chance on him vs. Keuchel if the money/years were similar.1 point

As others have pointed out, fixing the DH and RF positions alone with average players at least pushes this team into the mid-70s in wins. What I would say after that is...I don't know how next season will go, but I can give you a route where next season goes well. A couple guys like Cease, Kopech, Robert, and Eloy have good years, 1 or 2 actually break out as all-stars (totally possible), or Giolito or Moncada step up even more to top of the league level players, and all of a sudden we're a mid 80s or even 90 win team. I cannot guarantee it will happen but I can no longer rule it out. But, if we go $100 million payroll this offseason and bring in two cheap starting pitchers, we could be sabotaging this season before things even have a chance to go right, leaving us far enough behind the Twins or Indians that we just can't catch up, even using the trade market. So here's the real trick this season. Make ourselves good enough that if a whole lot of stuff goes right this season - we're sitting there atop the division at the end of the year. But at the same time...if stuff goes wrong this season, we need to have money available in 2021 to be able to fix those problems.1 point

Bobby Jenks is a very humble good guy who was surprised how well we received him at Sox Fest and showed his gratitude toward us.1 point

And getting pretty old, because practically every person discussing these ideas prefaces them by saying they know how unlikely it is. I don't see how talking about how upset we are over Wheeler is any better1 point
