Really happy for James Fox / Y2Jimmy getting the credit he deserves. I don't have to tell anyone on this site but the man has paid his dues and put the work in. Good on Passan.9 points

Worth noting that with regard to his outspokenness, he is still without a job.5 points

Idk if it's intentional, but signing an 88 million dollar deal and then choosing to wear no 88 is the most baller thing imaginable.5 points

Listen... if Moncada truly ends up being a superstar, then you effing pay him what he deserves. If they let their own guy go, big ticket free agents will never look at the White Sox.5 points

Luis Robert is a six-tool player. The sixth is his baseball IQ which is off the charts. Robert is the most natural baseball player to play for the White Sox since Dick Allen whom I note without his presence there would very likely not be a baseball team on the Southside anymore. A side note is that Dick Allen was one of the greatest players in a era that was dominated by pitching with a much higher mound and like his contemporaries such as Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Frank Robinson, Roberto Clement, Ernie Banks and Al Kaline how this magnificent natural ball player cannot be in Cooperstown is a tragedy. Read up about Marvin Miller and the player who got the issues in 1972 during the strike was the soft spoken coming to Chicago slugger. Dick Allen may have been as great a base runner as that I have ever seen and like Mr. Robert, Dick Allen has that special baseball IQ. Anyone here want a refresher on the man who saved the franchise ask Steve Stone or Bill Melton what they thought and felt about Allen. With all due respect minus someone like Barry Bonds Allen played in the toughest pitchers era and using a 42 ounce bat hit some of the longest golf ball shots ever seen. Also one of the very best knowing how to hook slide. A bit early but Luis Robert is hands down the single most natural ballplayer since Dick Allen to come on the scene. Roberts speed is off the chart for a man his size. Looks more like Terrell Owens or Jerry Rice than a regular baseball player. I first saw him when he was 17 and this guy if he stays healthy is going to be a truly special ball player. Plus the way he carries himself is like from another era. Fans are going to be thrilled watching him man CF. Once again the most gifted natural ballplayer since Dick Allen. Watch this guy run. A thing of pure beauty. Like a great thoroughbred racehorse. Mr. Robert can most definitely take it to the bank. One other thing is this young man loves to play the game of baseball. Stay tuned.4 points

1993 Sox were a preview. The 1994 Sox were unreal. Everyone remembers how good Thomas and Ventura were but Julio Franco was a wrecking ball and made that lineup impossible to game plan around4 points

Mike Trout came up as a 6'2 220 lb CF'er. Luis Robert is coming up as a 6'2 220 lb CF'er. I'm not saying but I'm just sayin'.4 points

We know one club that has put itself on the right side of a good-faith bargain. Luis will hit six HR and five bunt singles on OD.4 points

At least Laurence Holmes will mix in some White Sox talk usually. Wouldn't be surprised if the afternoon guys have a 15 minute segment on the Sox and then talk about how bad Mitch Trubisky is for 4 hours.4 points

George Ofman also tweeted those two guys this afternoon. I was thinking the Sox might be balk at 2 years. Good for Harris sweating it out and getting the money but I want no part of that.3 points

I think the Sox are done with Yolmer. They want Abreu setting the tone, not that clown.3 points

Roberts exit velos are very interesting. He had a 90 mph avg which is good but not elite. He hit 45% 95+ mph which is also good but not elite and 15% 105+ mph which is elite. This tells me he has to make a little more consistent hard contact because when he does he hits the everlovin shit out of it.3 points

And I said it before, but you just can't say this very often about the White Sox; they are the best in baseball at this and it's a really important and underrated aspect of rebuilding and sustaining success/window. The Cubs didn't extend anyone and now they are in a tough spot because they are up against the tax and they can't pay their young stars due to overpaid FA's. This is an excellent move by the White Sox to maximize their window, even if it does take on a bit more risk.3 points

I hope "who the best Chicago athlete to ever wear 88?" is a real question by 2027.3 points

But therein lies the problem. They 100% aren't giving Mookie Betts 380 million dollars. So now you have Joc Pederson who is another platoon bat and Springer who is going to cost 100 million dollars in his 30's and I'm gambling will get extended by the Astros anyways. Castellanos is going to get 16-18 over 4 years, that is in no way crushing for this team and would be easily movable if he maintains 2.5-3 WAR which every indication and metric seems to support.2 points
-
I watched several Cub games. Castellanos was slow and wasn't able to track down every ball hit in the gap, but he didn't make one error for the Cubs. Outside if that, he was a spark plug on offense that won several games for them. Platooning is not an ideal strategy. There aren't enough outfielders on the roster to platoon every time the opposing team makes a pitching change. Eventually, Mazara will have to face LH pitchers in key situations. Trying ti insulate him from facing LH pitchers might prove to be counterproductive. So I get the platoon strategy now that we have Mazara but I just don't think it will be sustainable for very long. In fact, I would be in favor of keeping him in the line-up against LH starters and have him work with the new hitting coach on a different approach. If he doesn't get better and Steele Walker does, well the trade will be regrettable.2 points

In the last 3 or so months, Phil has ripped Fegan for giving Yoan an MVP vote, he's compared Konerko to Edgar Martinez and then that tweet today. The dude is an absolute moron.2 points
